  • Let's paint a lovely watercolor portrait! This is a step-by-step process of the painting, perfect for following along or using as an inspiration for your own portrait art. I'll be using a limited palette, focusing on blue and purple tones for the skin. Somewhere out in the fictional ether, Wednesday Adams is nodding in approval.

Very nice. I also liked your comment that having certain areas less vivid makes the portrait more “comfortable” to look at. ❤🎉🎉🎉👏

“This is the wild stage” I love that description of the beginning of a watercolor piece. So accurate and helpful to think of to keep loose.

It's always so fascinating to see a painting works out, inbetween I thought to myself will it evolve? Will definately rewatch it to get inspiration to work on my 'building up layers' technique. Thank you, Kathy.

Beautiful portrait!! Never thought of using blooms to make undefined edges, that’s a very cool idea, might have to try that some day

    Thank you for this post,
I have been painting with watercolors for many years . I just thoroughly enjoyed your relaxed , less controlled way you paint, I always start off with that intention and end up trying to control the outcome. Please continue posting videos they’re inspirational.
For those of us that over control .
Is there any other suggestions, it would sure be helpful for me
    Thank you sincerely Ohn ❤

Thanks so much Ohn! ❤ Learning when to be loose and when to be more precise is definitely the hardest thing about watercolour for me
