I have a FX royale 400 in 22 cal and I get the same results as you do. Also agree that the best pellet has been the JSB Diabolo Exact Heavy (18 gr). Definitely a rifle with amazing potential!
Ted I would give the lube another shot. I shoot a lot of .22 lr target and the best ammo in the sport is lubed to a point it feels greasy to the touch. I was testing some lubed and non lubed ammo in a new target rifle one time and I found that it took about 25 to 30 rounds before the lubed ammo would shoot to the exacting measure that I like all day every day, and then I would switch to a box of non lubed ammo and it would shoot great for about 10 to 15 rounds and then the accuracy would fall off and would shoot like what I would expect from federal target. What I surmised and found to hold true to this day is that it takes about 25 lubed rounds to season the barrel to a consistent point where your groups settle down and you don't get the stray satellites every now and again. I'm a firm believer in lubed .22 lr ammo, I don't know if this transfers over to the air rifle world but if I had your resources I would give it another go.
My brothers and I use to shoot shotgun shells with our .22Lr at the target range, and that's when we know it's zero in just right but living here in Minnesota, there isn't any outdoor public gun range so the shotgun shell test is no more.
Even though im 6 months late this will be very helpful for me Funnily enough it was actually these two videos that convinced me to get the FX over the other options - Us aussies dont have many other options though Looking forward to future hunting vids
Hi Ted from Italy Your channel is simply stunning, simply awesome and it is truly a pleasure to navigate between your videos. There is always something to learn. Really well done and a sincere compliment from one of your Italian fan Very respectfully mate ciao Fabio
Ted, Don't you miss the utility of the Bullpup? I love my Marauder, but it is too long and cumbersome. But not for long, mods are in the works. I'm almost done with the wood Bullpup stock for my Mrod 22 cal. If it works well, I intend to do a carbon fiber Bullpup version to save weight and put that on the Mrod pistol. I will keep you updated on my progress.
Hi, I use Birchwood Casey as well. But I recently ran out and had to go back to normal paper targets. The groups appear a lot tighter on normal targets because you don't get the paper explosion effect. How do you factor that in your CTC group calculations? I think we might be being too hard on ourselves. I think some of your groups that measure over half an inch CTC could actually be well under half an inch without the Birchwood Casey effect.
Not to many small bore air rifles reliably put up MOA 100yd groups. To me it is the golden benchmark. I have yet to test out the .25 cricket @ 100, but @ 80yd it made .75in. Very curious if it could come close to this fx.
Hi there Ed, Nice review as always. Thanks for the effort! I was hoping that you would do some reviews for the -12ft/lb market (UK) as I am in the process of choosing a rifle myself non FAC. Keep well Best Wishes Oz
Great video(s). Appreciated. It looks like you have a 3.6 inch drop at 100 yards. I read a review of the 500 and it's getting 825fps with 25.4 JSB King. Zero'd in at 50 yards it has about a 1 inch drop at 75 yards, with ~.75 ctc. Any info as to how the 500 shoots out to 100 yards? What could I expect at 100 based on the 75 yard results? Did you choose the 400 over the 500 for this review? If so, why? In your experience, which of the two would be the better gun out to 100 yards? thanks
Hi Ted, I am looking real hard at the FX Royale 400 and the Daystate MK4 iS. I was wondering if you can explain why the FX Royale 400 in this review lost the sub MOA groups at 100 yds that it was getting at 50 yds. Thanks and great work on all your videos.
Question for you on a old video but I have to ask, do live fire arm shooters give you crap at the ranges? I ask because I have opted for airguns instead of live fire arms and people keep asking me why. I have my reasons, but these are still good tools and people seem to not always get that and crack jokes.
Hi Ted, Awesome video! I'm trying to find some good scope mounts for my FX Royale 400. Do you remember what mounts were used on that rifle? Thanks buddy.
Hi Ted, I need a little bit of your help, I just received my new FX Royale 400 in .22 cal, and I´m a little bit disspaointed for it lack of power. With the power selector on MAX, it shoots 18.1 grains JSB pellets at an average of 760 ft/sec, and this rifle is suposed to shoot those same pellets at an average of 850 + ft/sec. I understand that there is a small hex screw right where the magazine seats that limits the power of the Royale, If I unscrew it, will that increase the power on my Royale? And just in case you wonder... we have no legal power limitations in Mexico. Thank you very much for your help on this issue. José Palma
you should do some videos with the regular break action air rifles.. there much cheaper.. i understand the pcp's are more reliable, but the new gamo break actions come with silencers and i can get a 1 inch group with mine from about 50 yards. do a review or try it out please!
I have seen some lube available on the market Ted and to be honest I stay away from it, just seems a marketing gimmik. The best thing you can do to ensure consistent long distance shots is weighing the pellets into groups, I am sure you are well aware of this but many people aren't. Rich
Hi Ted I know I'm posting on one of your older video's and you can't reply to everyone because of how popular they are........but if you can could you recommend a 177 or 22 calibre for a sub 12flbs uk legal limit fx400.thankyou Darren :)
please I need to know if this gun is better than the air arms ultimate sporter 510 Xtra fac ??????? and how is the best air rifle for long range or bench rest you are tested? ??? the most accurate and most powerful . thanks for your answer.
hi ted i am interested in this air rifle or steyr hunting 5 automatic i wan to use it for bird hunting and long range ft what is your opinion? thanks!!
If you have the means to pick up the Steyr, that is a fine rifle. (but) The FX will do everything to steyr will do, function wise. The newer fx 400s have 3 stage power adjustment, as well. The steyr has no shroud, it will be a lot louder(not the greatest for hunting). The steyr more than likely will not be any more accurate than the FX. The FX even fully decked out with walnut stock and regulator is 2/3 the cost. You could get a HPA compressor if you do not have one for that difference. If you need semi auto, and must have just as much form as you do function then the answer is easy. I know I am not Ted, but he does not reply to many people anymore, just thought Id give some info.
For the shotgun shell shooting part, have you ever placed the shells with primers facing you and having a go at the primers? Is there enough force to initiate the primers and having the shells go off?
hello sir, i am anand from india i had fx royal 400 i used to tie the stock screw yesterday it was broke where i get that sir please help sir part no: D9 19015 Stock Attachment
i fancy going back to a uk max 22 12lb plus many good guys can get 5lb to kill a rabbit at 100 yards on a good hot days can you believe that i can not its imposable unless i wanted 35yards on a windy day 50yards when there not much wind but thats alot of scope adjusting i think i will equip 2 scopes and set them up for certain days like windy 35yards hot day 50yards so it proves that a 22 12lb will kill at long ranges some tryed at 100yards on a good day and thay hit there targets
well i rather buy a pcp quieter multy shot no breaking the barrel to load plus no recoil which makes zerroing the gun easy well cost of set up i found a compressor what fill 300 bar tanks but it wont get used that much i can tell you now reason the daystate air ranger 400cc 400shot buddy bottle plus thats alot of pellets to kill load of bunies plus a 12litre air tank will give me years of air plus i may run a filling station in my home for people to fill there air tanks
The result on the 100 yard Shotgun Challenge was surprising given the groups this gun was generating.
Hi Ted I think you hit the nail on the head, the fx with the smooth twist is still shooting aok at 900fps after 900 rounds.

I just bought one of these rifles TODAY. What would be the most effective range on the low setting?
Hi Ted, Awesome video!
I'm trying to find some good scope mounts for my FX Royale 400. Do you remember what mounts were used on that rifle?

Shotgun shell challenge is the best
@mortalcare, the rifles were sent to him to do a review, he's returning them after

José Palma yes it a long 1 inch hex screw from the bottom of the mag slide. that activates the power adjuster
Thank you very much Phillip for your comments I found them very helpful.
regards from Mexico

I think the main difference in that rifle and mine, is that my Royale 400 is regulated. I love the accuracy in mine.

When are you going to make the next hunting video? please respond!
i use the cyclone, there really good guns
what type you have(firearms)and how many??
Well if you need a 100yd shoot the fx can do it and a plus it feel good to hit the dote at a 100yd plus
Also it looks like your getting less drop with that air gun then I get with my S&W M&P 15-22 at 100yrds!
Your the best pcp shooter!
So,,,when it's sighted in for 25 yards then its also same for 50?
It would be around 1.5 inches low at 50.
I see your a bells fan. I live about a hour from there brewery.
hi ted i am interested in this air rifle or steyr hunting 5 automatic i wan to use it for bird hunting and long range ft what is your opinion? thanks!!

Daystate air howfe x fx Royale x o fx crown?
which camera is used on optics - thanks
Was that royale regulated?
what is that lubricating good for?
Muy bonitos los PCP , pero los fabricantes creen que solo los cazadores son todos derechos, cazadores izquierdos también hay por si les interesa venderles...gracias..
@TheSolMan211 maybe look @ the Hatsan BT 65 SB
ای جان !
You looked so young.
Fx royal vs fx verminator both arrows and pellets
JSB jumbo heavy + 45 J = one hole group on 50 yds
For the shotgun shell shooting part, have you ever placed the shells with primers facing you and having a go at the primers?
Is there enough force to initiate the primers and having the shells go off?
I agree for the price not the best groups at 100 yards...but who needs at kinda of accuracy that far out...
Wow! For an over $1800 gun. That was terrible groups. Great looking rifle and looks to be built well, but not impressive for the price.
upload more !!! vids of hunting
hello sir,
i am anand from india i had fx royal 400 i used to tie the stock screw yesterday
it was broke where i get that sir please help sir part no: D9 19015 Stock Attachment

I thought the FX was gonna be better. Edgun Matador is much better.
ngon
is this smooth twist
Yes
Dommage toujours en anglais
Hmmm . . . 10 for 10 on the shotshells at 50 yards tells me you can shoot the hair off a rat's ass with no problem. Rats beware!
how can you afford this?? you just got a new marauder and marauder pistol???? hahaha i cant even afford new pellets for rabbit season as of rite now
i fancy going back to a uk max 22 12lb plus many good guys can get 5lb to kill a rabbit at 100 yards on a good hot days can you believe that i can not its imposable
unless i wanted 35yards on a windy day 50yards when there not much wind
but thats alot of scope adjusting i think i will equip 2 scopes
and set them up for certain days like windy 35yards hot day 50yards so it proves that a 22 12lb will kill at long ranges some tryed at 100yards on a good day and thay hit there targets
@Rakloro sex
2nd
first!
What is CTC?
Center to center on the paper.
well i rather buy a pcp
quieter multy shot no breaking the barrel to load
plus no recoil which makes zerroing the gun easy
well cost of set up i found a
compressor what fill 300 bar tanks but it wont get used that much i can tell you now
reason the daystate air ranger 400cc 400shot buddy bottle
plus thats alot of pellets to kill load of bunies
plus a 12litre air tank will give me years of air
plus i may run a filling station in my home for people to fill there air tanks
