Basically what everyone else said: The site is 12+. Either stop pretending to care and allow sexual content and make the site 18+ so it follows the rules like any other website or ban it altogether. This really shouldn't even be an argument. Just don't try and act like the content these people are making isn't sexual in nature.
Asmon at one point said that they should ban the kids, but then kept saying weird things like _kids should not intrude on adult spaces, I'm not going to censor myself because children are present_ but said that the age restriction didn't matter. So which one is it? if you want an exclusive adult space you don't allow children period. If you don't then you don't get to complain when people point out that having +18 content is inappropriate since there minors present. Let's be real the reason why white-knighted for the Twitch cam girls is because his friends with several of them.
@@rickmel3883 Kids warching and playing 18+ games is fine. The rating is prudish as fuck. And for a while, they were the only good and complex games thats more then just another platformer. But sexual content is everywhere. It does no damage in small amount. But it does pile up and fuck people after years. Mangle your brains. Overthrows it's chemistry. Rewrite neuron pathway. And some kids will watch it every day from 13 and up. That cause damages. But violent video games? It doesn't. It's much less potent dopamine.
asmon generally has fair, level headed takes - but he has a weird take in regards to this topic. he was very vocal against gambling on twitch, and one of his main concerns he brought up a lot, was minors being exposed to gambling via steamers. but in regards to pornographic content, his stance has generally been that parents need to do a better job at monitoring what their kids look at online. i understand that his greater overall point is that the girls are just doing what twitch allows and ultimately it's up to twitch to change the rules - but he was very vocal about how he felt twitch should change their rules in regards to gambling. when it comes to the porn, he seems to not care either way, and dismisses it as misplaced outrage and/or bad parenting. i understand he makes a habit of dating OF girls who also stream on twitch so maybe he just doesn't want to come off as a hypocrite in that regard, but his out-of-character cognitive dissonance on this topic is glaring.
spot on, I reckon it has everything to do with him being personally interested in OF streamers and not wanting to get on their bad side/ejected out of their dating pool
Also the take that it’s not “mostly kids” is a weird one. Yes technically it’s not mostly children, but direct from Twitch Advertising: 21% of the platform’s users are between the ages of 13 and 17.
@@skivvytv6229 It's not a strawman. Asmon believes it's ok because he doesn't think his content as an adult should be modified to with children in mind even though he shares the platform with them. It's the wrong opinion and it isn't living in reality.
You don't even have to stumble. I firmly believe it's just part of being labeled as a male on the platform. Make 2 new accounts, one male one female, and the male will have that sexual content front of page without looking for it. Female accounts don't get that.
I think "stumbling upon it" is still putting it to nicely. Even on this platform I constantly have the algorithm shoving videos into my feed and suggestions that I would never watch, have never watched and will never watch because it's often either inaccurate or it's obvious/soft propagandism. Even things like tainted 'documentaries' when it's actually just ancient aliens or some kind of DEI agenda/ideas sprinkled throughout or completely tainting some or all of the historical validity by often removing the topics or examples from some or all context.
32:40 "i try to avoid the mindset im better than anybody else" a few moments later... "yeah you're a loser who needs to start worrying about paying for additional health insurance instead of video games"
Zack is so smart about so many different things. I don't understand why he decides to stoop so low to defend women praying on younger men for money. Twitch advertises as a 13+ website, I should not be able to see tits on it at all. It isn't "censorship" to get pornographic content off of a site that isn't porn. It's just moving it back to the correct area.
Yeah, he's usually pretty insightful and fairly consistent on a lit of stuff. But we do know why he's protecting thots, he was and is in relationship with some of them.
I don't think we should be hating on 'twitch thots'. It seems pretty weird that Twitch advertises their platform to kids despite having nsfw content on there. "Don't hate the player, hate the game" applies here. Edit: then again, the fact that twitch girls are using twitch and displaying nsfw content is pretty unethical especially when there's pornographic livestreaming websites for *adults only* that exist
@@haydencantthink you can hate both imo but yea the focus should definitely be more on twitch and twitch staff who make the rules and enforces the rules.
Asmon, suggesting that adults in a space designed to incorporate teens should control their behaviour to ensure the safety of children is EXACTLY how society works. If you want to swear, drink, smoke, flirt, hook up, etc etc then you go to places DESIGNED to be 18+. Suggesting that Twitch is outside of these rules "because some people in the teen bracket might be 24" is so far from the point.
Yes, this is an absolutely terrible take. But Asmon went from an asshole awkward teen that played video games 24/7 to a rich and famous version. No real world experience or growth. Just luck. So he really doesn’t have any authority to speak on parenting or childcare
@@mockep People really underestimate the damage that exposing children to sexualized content does. I've been on the receiving end of it and still dealing with consequences entering my 30s.
@@JuT11 there are plenty of 18+ places on the internet? Are you thick? If twitch wishes to be advertised as a teenage friendly platform, then they have an obligation to ensure the content they provide is suitable for teenagers. Of course parents have a level of responsibility too. But if your teenager says “hey can I use *insert app with a 13+ rating* here”, there’s supposed to be a level of reassurance that the app is in fact suitable for people that age. It doesn’t help if the system is tailored towards introducing kids to inappropriate content from the go. Imagine if they started introducing pseudo strippers at ice skating arenas, jungle gyms, laser tag etc. without advertising that they were incorporating adult content. Does that sit right with you? If so then lol.
About most stuff in the video aside from her random, "muh capitalism bad" inserted rants. Idk how she manages to shoehorn in her awful economic policies into every critique she has. Aside from that, she's correct.
35:50 "it's not a double standard because girls consent to being sexualized" But why is it that when I don't sexualize these consenting women I'm considered a sexist? Asmon misses the point for the millionth time.
So the standard is actually this: "Sexualize me when I want to be sexualized, and only when I want to be, or you're sexist. Also, sexualize by giving me money."
Asmongold while i love his content is literally 0/10 when it comes to dating and social behaviors of women. Hes always off mark about it and his opinions are literally flying off the front of his brain as he is speaking.
Why would the solution to this be to remove the kids from the site who in this case you would call the "victims" and not the women who are taking advantage of them who are the borderline " criminals"? Also I had a child's bank account from the ages of 12-18, it wouldn't allow me to make transactions on things that are exclusively 18+. I couldn't buy fuel, I couldn't buy alcohol, I couldn't buy tobacco or lottery tickets or adult content (yes I tried), the card wouldn't let me even if the store wanted to. What that very account would allow me to do if I chose to is to purchase a twitch subscription or bits because the site is once again, advertised as being child friendly. Asmon throughout this entire video is defending women that are knowingly exposing themselves to minors and honestly it really isn't a good look.
@@SlavaBohu I mean I don't believe for one second that Asmon is personally gaining anything from this situation, personally since 2019 I haven't watched a single twitch stream because I simply got sick and tired of this very thing. He does however no doubt feel a desirable need to defend twitch itself as it is his bread and butter but this whole video really changed my opinion on him. It is a fact that these women know they are doing this in front of children, it's the equivalent of walking into a theme park with a blind fold on, taking off your clothes and then saying "Oh I wasn't aware there were children here because I was removing my clothes for the 18+ people". That is what he is defending here.
i just believe parents should monitor their kids more and this shit should be delegated to a category and banned if its outside of it. that or just label the site as 18+ and boot the kids out
Because Twitch isn't a safe space for kids to begin with??? He covered this in the video already, you remove the thots, congratulations! Now you just have to remove every other problem involving kids. You remove the kids? Well now, you can't have a problem with kids if there are none.
Trueeee. I work with kids as an allied health professional and almost 100% of the 8 year old kids i see, talk to me about the stuff they’ve seen on twitch.
I have a 9 year old son and hes wanting to use twitch but I wont allow it. Asmon has always pretty much been an out of touch loser. I mean we're talking about someone that rarely leaves his house...
@@TheNumbers97 Kids around this age start to be super influenced by their peers. So if one other child in class watches Twitch and seems more socially accepted, other kids will begin to pressure parents to let them watch it or will just go online to watch the streams. Its a relatively difficult battle for parents because you don’t want your kid to be a social outcast because everyone else is on social media, but you also don’t want them to be exposed to porn. Twitch as a platform 100% should stop turning a blind eye to this
If twitch bans kids it dies. Simple as that. That's why they haven't done it. Twitch is still primarily a video game streaming platform and guess who consumes the most video game media.
Exactly, as a kid I was subbed to 100s of youtubers and managed to watch every single one of those videos being uploaded, as an adult, I can't do that anymore. Why? kids just have A LOT of time, so even if kids make up a small portion of the audience they contribute way more than the other age ranges. There is also the fact that the data can be heavily skewed because surprise surprise, kids lie about their age to make accounts. You know how their is such a thing as a "loud minority"? Well with kids and teens I would call them the "active minority" because the matter of the fact is, they don't need to work, they aren't busy, they have time to fucking burn.
I mean what did people expect when he dates and donates to OF models on twitch, he has a conflict of interest, of course he’s not going to flat out agree that there is a problem and try to justify as much as he can get away with justifying.

You're wrong on this one Asmon, and Shoe is pretty much on point. The pornification of Twitch is a huge problem and shouldn't be permissible or encouraged in any capacity.

New to Asmond's clip and am a fan but from watching some of his content and content about him and he probably has a bias because he is a friend of these type of "twitch thots" so this is probably him just not wanting to basically agree with Shoe so he doesn't piss his friends off. Whether intentional or subconsciously, of course, this is all speculation though
I would argue that if you're allowing your kids to watch porn on twitch YOU are the sole source of the issue. Rather than violating MY rights.........get your own home in order. Having everyone's rights violated to protect the few is literally stupid logic. If you're next argument is to tell me you can't be monitoring your children 24/7 they how the hell would you expect someone else to do it? It all comes down to nobody raising their kids properly. He agrees with most of she says. It was actually very little that he straight up fully disagreed with. He sure as heck didn't defend any of these girls at all. How can someone be so wrong... when a movie is rated 13+ (or whatever the rating depending on the country), it means ALL the content included is viewable for a kid who is 13, because he should not see anything inappropriate. It absolutely does not mean a parent should go to the movie and cover his/her kid's eyes when something inappropriate comes up. That's basic logic. Same goes for social media... if it says 13+, dont allow 18+ content and blame parents. And what you're saying is in fact extremely dangerous, because you're forgetting that in any interaction between an adult and a kid, the ADULT is responsible for what he exposes to the kid, or what he says, etc. It doesn't matter what lack of parental monitoring got the kid there, no adult should do this knowing kids could be watching. I state for the record that i like pretty much all your other content, but on this one you made me vomit a little. Have a great day.
Rare Asmon L, Shoe is right on this one, sadly Asmon was outclassed this time, he mostly never attacked the arguments, he mostly deflected or just refused to address the points
No, people are just incredibly stupid because they panic over the idea of kids seeing naughty stuff. If they don't scream "THIS IS WRONG!!!! WRONG!!!!!!!! WRONG I SAY! I AM SO OUTRAGED AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" at the top of their lungs they'll be accused of being a kid enjoyer, so Asmon's usual W take is ignored. Asmon is right. It's not anyone's problem but the parents, and if people don't want kids seeing that stuff on Twitch they should just ban the kids.
twitch is a pornsite that also happens to stream games sometimes. Keep the freaking kids out of it. Let adults have places for themselves. FFS the whole web doesn't have to accommodate kids. It will never do that anyway. Oh by the way I too once a child, and I remember specifically searching for porn on the internet when I was in middle school. Kids are not idiots, they are not stumbling on this content, they are looking for it. Welcome to reality, work on your parenting skills.
This entire situation is just beyond stupid. There is no way you really think an 11 year old kid is going to put their real DOB… we were all 11 at one point, you bet your ass I was lying on almost everything. The argument “says 12+” on its own is just stupid, as if 10 year olds are going to say “aww shucks. Looks like I can’t download it” I mean cmon now, be realistic.
Geez, Asmond is so petty sometimes. He's reaching to defend these women. Shoe brought up excellent points, some I never even thought about before. He really added nothing to this discourse lol.
It's crazy how bias he is here. At the beginning it just looks like he's having a dumb take, but as the video goes on, he's outright just bending over backwards at every point to defend them. He even defends the random Twitter comments attacking guys as being gay for taking issue with the metas. Seriously, how low can you get here? EDIT: What makes the last part with the Twitter comments even more crazy is the dude literally has other videos where he goes off on localizers and other internet figures for doing the exact same thing on Twitter when they're being criticized.
However much I agree with that premise, it’s incredibly difficult to draw the line on what is and isn’t porn. We (by that I mean the west) have a very different standard for “appropriate” clothing and what’s not sexual than compared to other non-western countries. A 13 yr old kid could very easily due it to an online clothing store or some Victoria’s Secret model or some shit, lol. Same thing with anime and how much nudity you can really show before it’s literally just hentai
Personally don't care myself. Don't use twitch, and wouldn't let my kid anywhere near it even before all this. Why the f. would I let my kid get semi attached to a complete stranger who's probably 18 or older and doing all kinds of shit I can't possibly keep track of? Any parent who lets anyone younger then 16 on there are nuts. The drama is fun to watch though.
Asmon really argued that they should just ban all kids from Twitch instead of the female streamers who even he knows intentionally break the rules to make more money, and was entirely serious about this take. What else can you say?
Weird take Asmon. Twitch is accountable for the content it allows and the users it allows. It has allowed 13 year olds and porn to collide with zero f’s given. Its on them to either change the age limits or the content.
By your logic the internet as a whole should have a age restriction because a simple google search of porn can net you an unprecedented amount of porn with the simple click of "im 18" Damn wow i sure never lied when i was 13 and wanted to watch porn.
@@13ofus the internet is not an entity, it is a medium. that's like if a movie theater posted porn on their walls and people said to remove it because kids go there and you said "well by that same logic we should just ban the whole world because you can simply walk to a strip club and see the same thing." IMAX theaters had in the first room frozen or some shit and in the 2nd theater porn with nothing stopping you except a blind deaf guy that all you have to do is poke him in the stomach to confirm you are 18 and you get in there are only 2 solutions. 1. You age restrict the theater as a whole so only 18+ can enter 2. You remove porn entirely in a movie theater setting it sounds to simple but if you change so instead of porn we are talking about comedies as a whole suddenly you can't watch any comedy unless you are 18+ or comedies are banned. But again movies theaters are not the internet they are not comparable. Some cleavage on twitch wont even be the worst thing any kids sees in a day. We were all kids before just think back to then and realize how little of a problem this is.
Child predator women is a bit much. These women care about the money, and adults have the most money. I think the fact there are kids on twitch doesn't mean the viewers of those specific streams are majority kids. 16+ at worst which for extremely light "porn" (honestly you'd see 90% of this stuff if you went to a gym or popular beach) isn't terrible. (in europe were I live 16 is the age of consent, same in a lot of the US, 16 isn't a baby so again I hardly think these women are child predators, and I hardly think its "dangerous" for these guys to be watching that content.)
Biggest L take from Asmon, mainly bc it contradicts what he always says about how kids should not be allowed on social media. But overall he gives really good points on his own perspective but it’s not a good take overall.
As a woman, I object to you calling this “girl power.” The vast majority of women, even attractive ones, are NOT exposing ourselves on Twitch or other soc media. It’s a tiny minority that you see, & statistically, women are actually more conservative about protecting children than men are
Holy shit, just because something is possible, that doesn't mean you have to make it super-easy. Many of my friends watched shit from wars in the Middle East and other nsfl shit. Basically, you want to make a website kid friendly when it wouldn't do a damn thing. Even if you ban titty streamers they'll still stream and still advertise their only fans and their Twitter, the only difference will be a kid won't see tits on twitch itself
who he dates should not prevent parents from ensuring that their children are not exposed to unsafe content...i found his conclusions to be concise and well thought out.
I agree that kids shouldn't be on social media, however how can you say that kids are "intruding" on adult spaces when these social media sites advertise themselves as 12-13+ ? In a lot of cases it is the adults that intrude on kids spaces, i.e videogames primarily intended for children getting deluged full of adult content. Shoe is right when she said everywhere has become the strip club, we have removed all safe spaces that used to exist for kids a lot for the time for the sake of "inclusion" and "openness". As an adult I refuse to blame kids.
@@unversedhero6028 Yes we all know that Mario was intended only for a 21+ audience. All of the earliest game consoles and accompanying video games were primarily advertised to and played by children.
@@unversedhero6028 Can you reread my comment? "videogames primarily intended for children getting deluged full of adult content". Is Mario not a game that was developed, marketed and played by predominately children? Ergo Mario is a videogame for kids. Do you not see how that conflicts with your statement "Videogames were never for kids"? I don't understand how you are not getting something so simple, other then to be excruciatingly contrarian and pedantic.
@@Blackmore278because your premise is false, there are some game that are for primarily children but the majority of video games are made for people (kids and adults both). Just because kids can sign up for social media does not mean that most social media is aimed at adults is false.
@@jdarokhajiit9153 If most social media is aimed at adults, then kids should not be allowed to join. The same way that games aimed at adults should not be played by children. I don't see where I am inconsistent.
Saying a gambling addiction is worse than a porn addiction is a rare bad take by Asmon. Just like gambling addiction, porn addicts lose all their money to cam girls or hookers or whatever. Most addictions are equal in that the end game is the same, no self control, abuse to the point of harming yourself or/and others around you. @1:08:30 ish
All addictions can be devastating, but I do think that for the average person a gambling addiction is more likely to be disastrous. You can't have a gambling addiction without blowing your money.

Missed the entire point at the start and talked about it for 10 minutes anyway. Twitch literally excluded 13, 14, and 15 year olds from their pie chart of age groups. There's zero reason to do that if it doesnt look bad. For all we know when looking at that graphic, 90% of Twitch users are 13-15. Forget the very obvious large number of people under 13 simply lying. He's right that they can do the same thing on any website, but that's an entirely unrelated point.
But you forget that the children can lie about their age and make an account like how kids made a Facebook account saying they’re 18 without a background check and parents don’t pay attention to what the kids do
That's what I was thinking. Every other form of demographic reporting I've ever seen is children, 18-25, 25-45, and 45+. To me, seeing a demo breakdown like that screams of data manipulation
@@guillermobernabes4979that’s besides the point. Yes, they can and do. A LOT. It’s still begs the question; y is Twitch leaving out an entire age category? It’s impossible to make a genuine argument when they intentionally make everything vague or simply omit the most important info.
Asmon is just trying to play both sides. Shoe0nHead is right on almost everything. I do agree with Asmon about children and social media 100%. But saying that softcore porn on Twitch is small is FALSE. It's a BIG part of Twitch, just not the biggest.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. Asmon is not this very intelligent, unbiased bastion of opinions. This really stupid side of him comes out every time something is rightfully critical of streamers, he will bend over backwards and interrupt whatever video he is reacting to 2-4x over it's length just so he can disperse the actual point long enough to obfuscate information and insist he is right. The man will interrupt a person mid sentence two-three times just to continue to build on his point if the person in the video is in danger of finishing theirs. It's a very intellectually dishonest way to react to anything.
It's not "intellectually dishonest" it's his opinion.... On his video, on his channel..... Whether the criticism is "rightful" is a matter of opinion and he's allowed to have his, the fact you don't like it doesn't make him "not very intelligent."

It's absolutely the parents responsibility to moderate their child's Internet use. I have a 12 year old daughter and her phone is set up in a way where she can't download new apps or even Google anything without my putting in a password, her laptop is set up with parental controls so she can Google what she needs but adult sites are heavily moderated out and I get a weekly report which details what sites she has accessed. She whines at me sometimes about her phone because her friends all have tik tok and Facebook and she feels left out which sucks and i wish that wasn't the case but i think that is the lesser of two evils and having her being upset with me somtimes is the price I pay for her being safe online, I also talk with her about online safety all the time, making her aware not to give out personal information or never send anything to anyone which you wouldn't be comfortable for everybody to see etc; hopefully she will thank me in the future.
Majority of his takes are bad and come as a result from using very biased media/sources that more often than not are completely bullshit. This one take in this video is just so hilariously bad though that even you can easily spot the hypocrisy and lack of knowledge about this topic hes trying to give opinion about, but the reality is, thats how majority of his takes look like to people actually researching things that he talks about. "Kids are always going to be able to see this stuff" is not a good argument for not doing anything we can to prevent it. Frankly, it's hard to argue that the adults getting access to it is worth it if it also means kids have easy access. Why not just ban porn entirely? It's clearly not doing anyone any good, and if we can't keep it out of kids hand's specifically, shouldn't we try to get rid of it generally?

This is just baffling to me.
I think its the problem with thinking on ones feet - articulation. He made that connection to show that kids are searching for game characters on porn sites, thus they are accessing porn on other platforms and it is unfair to single out Twitch. He also makes the point that the twitch thots do not have many ads nor occupy the top streamer spots - they are using twitch as a lead generator for paid platforms like OF.
Yeah dude, you're so close to getting it I feel bad for you. The ethots are minor on twitch, you'd have to go out of your way to find them. His whole point is that kids will see naked women regardless and that he thinks kids under 18 shouldn't even be on the platform in the first place. The only reason I could think of that you wouldn't get or agree with that is if you're under 18 yourself
he makes some good points and some bad ones like anyone else the one i think everyone should see as the takeaway instead of just ASMONBAD is that underage children should be the ones under restriction and not grown adults buti can see the argument on the flipside the work before family culture has made it socially acceptable to neglect raising your kid and monitoring what they are accessing but socially acceptable doesn't mean correct and i feel like a lot of people dont make that connection

@@mufasafalldown8401 so what about twitch being the least offensive site that this is happening on? Why is there seemingly more backlash with twitch compared to other sites. I don't understand the inconsistent outrage. Seems like Asmon is advocating for consistency, which would help greatly in protecting kids from adult content. As a parent tho, I think he's right that ultimately it does fall on us to be responsible for what our children are viewing. That's not an insane take at all.
The only reason I would think kids wouldn't be on Twitch is that they probably don't have the attention span these days to watch a stream. But then again, who the fuck can predict what kids would do with their lives anyway, that's why society in general has been putting up safeguards around them, are they effective? Probably not. should we stop doing so then? Nah.
Everyone knows kids are everywhere on the internet, it's also common knowledge that kids lie about their age because fuck getting age restricted. It's funny he prefers children to respect limits and parents to become full time helicopter parents over eth0ts learning about boundaries, when in reality they shouldn't be excluded from making an effort
If we are going to do anything, we should implement device level age verification. Any device should be certified as 18+ with the initial setup process asking if this device will be used by someone under the age of 18. This can also be used to gate social media or other age restricted content as well. The other alternative would be doing something through your ISP and/or phone provider for content filtering. By default, everyone should be assumed to be 18 unless told otherwise.
As a parent, I want to offer some perspective. Twitch presents itself as "a community-centric live streaming service focused on gaming, entertainment, creative content, and more." In its promotional efforts, it highlights its position as a premier platform where gamers, creators, and viewers can come together to enjoy live content, exchange ideas, and foster communities across a variety of interests. Is it the responsibility of parents to educate their children about navigating the internet safely and wisely? Absolutely. Should we also expect social media platforms to honor their commitments by adhering to the laws of their operating countries and their own terms of service? Undoubtedly. These are the standards we rely on. While Asmon didn't explicitly state "keep your kids off the internet entirely," his viewpoints suggest a lean towards extreme caution regarding internet use by children. This perspective, while rooted in concern, might not fully address the practicalities of modern digital life. What Twitch needs to consider is straightforward: either explicitly categorize the platform as suitable for adults only (18+) or enforce stricter measures against streamers who produce content that verges on being pornographic.
This is it. As a parent of very young daughters that’s stumbled from cool math games and Barbie videos to Chaterbate then redtube on a school issued iPad is deeply concerning. I caught it because I check. Yet all of my parental controls and observation was no match for the internet. All I could do was ask the school not to allow them to bring the iPads home because I cannot moderate their hardware like I can my own iPads. Also if it’s listed as 12+ then this content is slipping through parental controls for that age range
Not a parent, but I totally agree. Twitch needs to be either family friendly, at least within reason (not cinemax style) or it needs to be adult only. If Twitch wants to let women (or men) bounce their bits on stream, fine, but make the minimum age much higher. If they want to keep the kids there, they should ban the heavily sexual content. Kids would still slip in if they went adult only, but it would be against their rules. Personally, I think we have things like OF for the people who want to make and consume specifically sexual content, so why not keep that content relegated to off their platform.
@@jonathanmitchell5171 just a tip: you can set up network controls on your router that will mitigate most of the issues with actual pornographic content. You don't necessarily have to do it on a per-device basis.

I think people are simply saying it's not the responsibility of content creators to sanitize what they do because some kids might be present on a website their parents shouldn't let them on anyway, advertised age rating be damned. Obviously individuals targeting kids should be punished accordingly but there's zero reason a child should be on a site like twitch in the first place, and for that very reason. It's a circular argument because nobody wants to take their share of blame. As a completely outside observer I think none of this would be a worry at all if most parents didn't just park their kids in front of computers and trusting any website to be trustworthy enough to appropriately entertain a minor.

As sure you can say it's not their responsibility, but what are their intentions for purposely advertising their pornographic material to children??? Let's not treat adults like idiots like they don't know what type of individuals are mainly on certain platforms. If we woke up tomorrow and PBS kids website started advertising pornhub on it, I do not feel like parents being outraged and disgusted is them simply being puritans. Sure PBS can start doing that all they want It's their website and they can do whatever they want on their website. Yes, parents should always be watching out for their children and looking at what they are allowing their children to be on but I don't feel like if Walmart started advertising their adult toys in the children's section should we simply just be okay with that because parents should be watching their children. More than one thing can be in the wrong. More than one thing can be guilty. More than one thing can be talked about in the same situation. And we can question everyone's intentions in that situation. Especially when their intentions feel very pedophilic.

The site is 12+.

Twitch was literally made as a place for kids. It's ridiculous moderation levels are justified as being to make it a safe place FOR KIDS,.

It's just moving it back to the correct area.

After watching this video I can pretty much guarantee that this is your worst take of all time. Yikes.
Yes, this is an absolutely terrible take. But Asmon went from an asshole awkward teen that played video games 24/7 to a rich and famous version. No real world experience or growth. Just luck. So he really doesn’t have any authority to speak on parenting or childcare

But if your teenager says “hey can I use *insert app with a 13+ rating* here”, there’s supposed to be a level of reassurance that the app is in fact suitable for people that age. So the standard is actually this:
"Sexualize me when I want to be sexualized, and only when I want to be, or you're sexist.

Asmon thinking kids are a "very small portion" of twitch viewers is actually the funniest joke in this video.
If twitch bans kids it dies. Simple as that. That's why they haven't done it. Twitch is still primarily a video game streaming platform and guess who consumes the most video game media.
right, didn't twitch get popular in the first place from younger kids watching streamers play minecraft and stuff like that?

@@13ofus the internet is not an entity, it is a medium. that's like if a movie theater posted porn on their walls and people said to remove it because kids go there and you said "well by that same logic we should just ban the whole world because you can simply walk to a strip club and see the same thing." Certain things are advertised and kept in certain categories. If something is advertised for 13 year olds it should not include porn, simple as. @@Spirit_Circle It is not but you know what has porn and lets children collide with zero f's given? The entire internet literally everywhere. Any kid can go to google and type porn as i said before and you get it. So according to OP the ENTIRE INTERNET can choose to either add an 18+ age restriction for access to the whole internet. 1. You age restrict the theater as a whole so only 18+ can enter
2. You remove porn entirely
in a movie theater setting it sounds to simple but if you change so instead of porn we are talking about comedies as a whole suddenly you can't watch any comedy unless you are 18+ or comedies are banned. But again movies theaters are not the internet they are not comparable.
Some cleavage on twitch wont even be the worst thing any kids sees in a day. We were all kids before just think back to then and realize how little of a problem this is.
A few years ago Twitch had mentioned 70% of their audience was 13-16 kids, so it's not a minority that's exposed to these child predator women.

@@GhostlyNomad130um yes. Are you like 40 years old or something? Teenagers are absolutely on twitch as much as people use to watch Cartoon Network.

In a lot of cases it is the adults that intrude on kids spaces, i.e videogames primarily intended for children getting deluged full of adult content. Shoe talking about women being mid is "when in comparison to" the women who ARE on cam girl sites. Most of the women on Twitch who do this kind of content would not be given the time of day by viewers on a cam site.
Yikes. This is pretty messed up coming from Asmon. "The amount of kids watching twitch is a small amount". Dude... it's not. It's REALLY not. And regardless of that. Twitch still IS rated 13+ they absolutely have a responsibility to the content that is on their site RATED FOR KIDS. Dude come on, you are better than this.
And his argument is that you should ban kids… on a site still mainly advertised as for gaming which is a major hobby for only kids and young adults.
@@strategygaming5830 "strategy gaming" says gaming is mainly a hobby for "only kids and young adults" -- that's because gaming MAINLY took hold with millennials -- few boomers give a fuck. Millennials are entering their 40s. in 20 years, there will be a lot of gamers in their 60s. great "strategy" from a great mind. go take a nap.
It is a small amount proportionally. The problem isn't access, the problem is parental moderation.
@@padarousouif it’s rated 13+ it should be moderated as such. Simple as that.
If a movie was sold as 13+ but contained tonnes of soft core porn/nudity it would be a problem. The same standards should apply to online content too
I think both gold and shoe needed to do some more research to smoothen out the evidence, because practically sticking to opinions and grasping for straws half the time is not enough.
Funny how asmon was so against gambling because it could affect minors but bends over backwards when it comes to softcore porn then suddenly its okay.
I think porn or content that’s basically porn is a net negative to society for children and adults.
That being said shoeonhead is pretty hot lol

Ah yeah, I remember all those OF models saying "we're gonna deliberately expose ourselves to minors on twitch to make money off of them".
Unless that's actually deliberately what they're doing but that seems really stupid and transparently illegal.
I just think the discourse is weird because people are gonna use this issue to say dumb shit like OF should be outright banned or porn should be made illegal in its totality. The only thing that matters is that everyone involved is of legal age. Everything beyond that is just moral grandstanding.

@@mufasafalldown8401 so what about twitch being the least offensive site that this is happening on? You don't care about tiktok or twitter or instagram having the same, if not bigger a problem when it comes to children viewing adult content? Why is there seemingly more backlash with twitch compared to other sites. I don't understand the inconsistent outrage. Seems like Asmon is advocating for consistency, which would help greatly in protecting kids from adult content. As a parent tho, I think he's right that ultimately it does fall on us to be responsible for what our children are viewing. That's not an insane take at all.
"the majority of people watching twitch aren't kids"
scuse me wut?
Bro lives in his own world lmao, common Asmon L
Then allow gamba. Lets see how that goes PepeLaugh
bro has never been in an xqc stream lol
Also, keep your children off of the internet without supervision. Don't expect a company to do what's best for YOU. They will always make the best financial decision for them

This is one of the very rare instances where I have to disagree with asmongold in certain aspects. The man is way too neutral about Sexual content. Rather people agree that kids should or should not be on the internet. It doesn't matter. The fact is they are and they always will find a way to get on. So we need to keep trying to make sexual content that is psychologically damaging kept away from kids. Figuratively speaking, just because murder happens Every hour doesn't mean we should legalize it and let it happen without resistance because of the fact that it keeps happening. IMO
He is too neutral because he is an enjoyer of the content. he has shown his "for you" list before and it's mainly those types of streamers
@@Chippaization Not gonna say he doesn't enjoy this kind of thing, his twitter seems to basically mostly that, but the "for you" list is broken on Twitch, new users also get recommended softcore porn.
the thing is
It doesn't matter if only 5% of people are underage the fact remains the platform is 12+ which makes the argument completely invalid that children are not the majority
BECAUSE by its rating it should be safe for children
ALSO pornhub as an argument is silly because Pornhub is not 12+ website
Ah not wanting adults to take advantage of minors and actively seek them out Makes us Puritans..... Like do people actually hear some of the words that come out of their mouths??? Yes, we're so puritans because we don't want pornography to be advertised to children😮😮😮😮
The internet makes me lose hope in America sometimes. It’s crazy it’s getting to the point where there’s adults who genuinely don’t care about minors.
@@feyrie why bring up America at all kiddo, stupid take, read the above comment and please stay in school, this generation is genuinely starting to worry me
I think people are simply saying it's not the responsibility of content creators to sanitize what they do because some kids might be present on a website their parents shouldn't let them on anyway, advertised age rating be damned.
@@panicnow14 there are plenty things that you said that I do agree with but has nothing to do with what I am saying in my original comment. So we can talk about everything else that you've put if you would like to know my opinions on those.
What I am pointing out is that I am appalled by ppl calling people Puritans for feeling outraged or disgusted when people are purposely advertising pornographic material to children. And no, it's not The contents creators responsibility to sanitize their content because children might see it unless they are purposely targeting that demographic.
