@@SPL Okay thanks. Upon further inspection I do have the proper leader hose. It actually does not swivel. Thinking more about it, you probably don't want a swivel connector at the vacuum head then it may not steer the head as designed when the cone gear rotates.
Awesome video as always. Quick question: I have a copper ion pool sterilization system for 5 years here in Florida. I went from a DE filter to the 4 cartridge unit you suggested about 4 months ago. Big difference from the DE and takes some getting use to. The question that I am having an issue with balancing the PH after I get total alkalinity being the recommended 70-90 level for the copper ion system. I tried fresh water and every time I get my Total Alkalinity Normal , my PH raises out of range and when I use the normal amounts of acid the total alkalinity goes down to say 60 (needs to be 70-90 for ion system. Just cannot seemt to get PH dialed in after Total Alkalinity. Any ideas or tricks? The ion system levels are spot on and it is functioning fine. The only thing that changed was the filter ...Hmmmm
Anthony Llabres try to walk and pour the acid at the deep end and pour it as close to the water as possible. give it a try and let me know if that helped
It's not the filter but probably the municipal water that is used to fill the pool. I would test your tap water alkalinity to see what level that is at. If it drops to 60 for a week and then goes back up to 70 or 80 it is nothing to worry about. You will have issues if the alkalinity drops to 40 and stays their for a month or two. What pH range are you shooting for? If you are going for 7.2-7.4 try instead 7.6-7.8 for awhile and see if the Alkalinity is more stable.
I was shooting for 7.4, but this water seems to want to creep higher for some reason. When I bring it down by broadcasting muriatic liquid acid and water (by bucket) into the pool water the TA comes down with the PH. I will try just puring some acid in deep end lik the fella above said and not braodcast it like I have been...
@@SPL Hi, great video! In your opinion why do you consider the Aquanaut better? which are the main advantages? I need to buy one of them. My pool is cement approximately 15' x 32' Thank you!
@@carlos12838 Basically less parts to change overall in the Aquanaut. Then when the parts do wear out all you need to do is drop in a whole new lower body. So for 5-6 years all you will be doing is changing the rubber tires.
I'm currently living in TX and I'm trying to start my own business, however I know little to non about pools, but I'm very interested in the business, I found your videos very helpful but would what would you recommend me do in terms of training (learning) so I could start my own business thank you and again great videos
I'm considering starting my own pool service business in The Modesto CA area. I've done a lot of research on startup costs, but haven't found tax information. About what percentage would I being paying out in taxes at the end of the year? Just a ballpark estimate would be very helpful. Thank you.
The general rule of thumb is 10%. So if you gross $50,000 you will be paying $5,000 a year in taxes. But there are other factors involved for you overall taxes that may lower this amount or raise it up. Mortgage deductions, charitable giving, personal health Ins, plus business deductions like new equipment, office supplies, phone, advertisement and milage deductions. Overall I am paying about 10% of my income in taxes although I also have rental income on a Sched-C. If you need more info on how to start you can email me directly: davidginavb7@gmail.com
Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To -MrDgvb1 Thank you. While I'm still in the planning stage and couple months out, I'm usually very conservative with my numbers. My tax estimates were quite a bit higher, but it was more "guesstimation" than anything. I'm shaving about 20% off the top every month for gas, chems, insurance, my equipment repairs/replacement and so on. Would you say that is a fair estimate of monthly costs?
Cost are actually higher in the Summer months. Your in Ca. like me so Summer runs from April to September. Figure more chemical costs and equipment cost in those months but expect to recoup in the Winter where chemical costs are down. It's hard to say exactly the % but if you charge enough per account you will make a good profit.
Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To -MrDgvb1 I planned on charging about $45 for chem only, $95 for full/chem plus. Does that seem reasonable for a start up? This seems to be the going rate in the area. What do you charge? What do you include in your full/Chem plus service? After this comment I will send emails instead if you prefer. Thank you for your continued responses. It's very much appreciated.
Those rates seem fine. Every area is different but I charge similar rates. You want to stay competitive and of course not lose money. We call that "spinning your wheels" in the industry.
clear and straight forward. appreciate the time to make the video
Excellent video to the point and informative
What's the purpose of the lead hose? Does it have a swivel connector?
It gives the swivel more play I think and makes for an easy and secure connection.

I have a very old navigator I think it’s time to replace just seems to be having trouble.
Do you like these over the aquanauts?
Aquanaut or the PoolCleaner are better in my opinion.
Thank you as always!

@@SPL thanks! understand, one last thing, does Aquanaut do well with fine particles or sand?
will it work for inclined pool (does it go from deep side to shallow side ?)
depends on the surface type. Works better in cement pools vs vinyl and fiberglass.

Great video. What is the difference between the Pool Vac V-Flex and Navigator V-Flex? Are they just two difference Hayward brands?
Nothing. Just the shell. Not sure why they have two of the same cleaner under different labels.
Thank you!

I never saw that you connected this vac to a skimmer basket set-up
At 2:44 mark. 👍
I thought it was the back skimmer hole
Back, front - they will figure it out ;).
