No 5 minute self serving egotistical channel intro with wild music, no endless blabbing taking half the video talking about what you'll talk about, no selling t-shirts with your name in 1,000 pt font, no constant cgi of flying hands, bells, buttons and rings on screen of subscribe and notification and no "lets get right into this.....but first" blurb over and over. Absolute perfect to the point, all others take note, this is how you get a subscribers. Thanks brother..
Give this man a medal for helping everyone that’s had this tool in their boxes and let it collect dust because they had no idea how to properly use it. I was taught many years ago how to use it properly and forgot to over the years. This video will help tons of people when doing e brake shoes with this tool! 10/5 stars for you good sir!
I specifically dislike watching videos for how to information because the 2 minutes of information needed is woven into a 15 minute video. Here we have the video distilled into the essence of how to use brake spring pliers. Thank you for the brevity.
SUBSCRIBED. No self-aggrandization, no music; just direct, concise information. This is a productive video that doesn't waste one's time or test one's patience. Thank you. This was helpful.
I've always struggled using screwdrivers and pliers in the past, but then I bought a brake plier/tool set and wanted to give them a try. However, the set didn't come with any instructions. Thank you for taking the time to show us how to use these tools! Much appreciated!
Excellent video. The best part is your introduction. So tired of having to wade through all the personal stuff and blasting "music". I got to get me some of those tools. Tired of being smacked with shrapnel from my brakes. Saves on screwdrivers too! Thanks.
Thank you so much...I always see everyone fusing and struggling with that bottom spring and you showed (perfectly) how easy it is to take off and put on.
I'm glad that you had a straight to the point video. the reason these other guys have such long videos is because they need to make money. As long as you watch 30 seconds of the video the total time counts towards their monthly minutes watched. You're a great guy. hats off to you!
Perfect video. I don't have a problem with the intro, but I think it is not necessary and eats up a small amount of time. Your very good and to the point video speaks for itself as no nonsense. Thanks for the great lesson.
I knew there was no BS as soon as I saw how long the video was. Intro was spot on, I was beginning to think the hook and point had no purpose. I am thankful for you this Thanksgiving Day! lol
when i tell you, since i was 18 i have been struggling with drum brakes and you have just saved me hours of struggling and bloody knuckles. THANK YOU!!!
I've had the basic Idea how to use these pliers for years this gave me a few more tips to make the job that much easier. With out all the fluff. Thanks
Good lord, this video is 4 years old! I hope you are doing well. I bought a set of brake tools from SEARS too long ago, and never figured out what these things really do, thanks!
Thanks for the video, I have been a professional mechanic for 33 years and that was the first time I have seen the hook used on the pliers. I have developed my own way to do the job and until recently didn't even own a set like that, but I now know how to use both ends of the tool.
Thank you for the video. I went from a 30 min struggle with the springs, to a 1 second install. I never thought about using the brake shoe as leverage to pull the bottom spring.
Years ago, back in the 70's, my brother showed me how to use these pliers half way, like you said. BUT he also used the "socket" type end to push in and twist 90 degrees to remove those small round spring with the cap. You may have to up your game. Thanks for the adjusting spring removal tip. One more set of brakes to put on my truck of 275,000 miles.
I came here because I saw the video was only 2 minutes long, which is about how long it should take someone to demonstrate drum brake pliers without showboating or filler. Thank you.
Nope, you tell me how great you are or I'm not watching this.........still waiting......... you took to long, I just watched it, - thank you, very helpful and ready for a much easier job now!
Dude..... I've owned a pair of brake spring pliers for about 15 years now but never used them, and never knew how to use them, but I know that I bought them because I remember hearing that it makes life a lot easier when doing drum brakes. And today I find your video, and my mind is blown. Especially since I hadn't remembered to use the tool until today. Thanks for the awesome video!
Thank you very much. I always saw these pliers at the store. You just made my next job a lot easier. So long screw driver and channel locks. One of best DIY videos on UA-cam.
Best car repair video on the internet, right here! I have absolutely no interest in hearing how awesome the mechanic is, or his kids, or his cat, or how hot she is. I come to the internet because I'm stuck, I'm sick of Fing with it and I want to be done.
I've been reminded of a valuable lesson thanks to you. There is something infinitely more important than having the right tool - you must know how to use it to the fullest extent. I fought with the self-tensioning spring for more time than I want to admit. After a fortunate search I found this demonstration. I was then able to execute in the same fashion as you did. I am beyond grateful. Have a good day.
Randy, thank you for your simplicity and very useful knowledge. I now know the proper way to use this tool. Your intro should be nominated for an Oscar! Just liked, shared and subscribed. Thanks again!
Thanks! I never seen anyone use or know how to use the pincher end of the pliers.. I always used the legs, but no one ever showed me how the other end works. Cheers! 🍻
thank you sir,i have never figured out how to use these pliers- i have used needlenose pliers and vice grips and screwdriver.sometimes hurting myself-thank you again.
Great easy to understand video. I have my C10 jacked up and couldn't figure how to get the little hook under the top spring and you video shows I was using the wrong end.. Thank you!
Just FYI from using these a lot. The end used to roll the top spring off. Is usually called the collar or socket. The other has a bowl for the spring end & is placed diagonally over the stud. To heel it over onto it. But the smooth area works fine to. Good video!
Bravo! I've "sort of" used the pliers, but now I really know how to use them so I'll forget about the forty years I didn't know what I was doing! LOL Thanks for an excellent video and if you are ever in Idaho will gladly buy you some beer! Best of luck!
This was amazing! I wish I had learned this years ago. I've been using these brake pliers all wrong, making my life so much more difficult. Thank you!!!!
I always knew I was using them at least POORLY if not wrongly...it was mostly 'wrongly' but some 'poorly' too. Now to go put this to use! I have a new spring set, still got my tool, decided to try to search up instructions BEFORE I wrestled with my springs...and now to see what happens! Even if *I* fail, his video has made it so I'll simply work out how to use the brake-pliers properly in the future, but I really think they'll work quite nicely now that I know! ...which means maybe I can't find my tool when I go to look for it, but I can only solve so many problems at the same time. :) Now to go test my new lessons if I can!
Oh boy, do I feel like a knuckle head. I wasn’t using that tool properly at all. Thanks for for the video and thanks for saving me a good half hour of sweat!
I absolutely love short and to the point videos. I would rather watch an advertisement than listen to a 5 min intro and story why you have to change your brakes.....
Thanks ratcheting Randy. I never knew how to use the handle end of the pliers. Should make my brake job easier. Like to see how they work for hold down springs on bigger truck brakes
The introduction of this video is the greatest I've ever seen on UA-cam. Thank you.
Agreed!👍
Awesome!!!! , no bull shit!!! Great video.
💯
Honesty wins
And his sentiment was dead on accurate. My biggest complaint! I liked shorts but now they only do speed talking and screen changing per half second.
No 5 minute self serving egotistical channel intro with wild music, no endless blabbing taking half the video talking about what you'll talk about, no selling t-shirts with your name in 1,000 pt font, no constant cgi of flying hands, bells, buttons and rings on screen of subscribe and notification and no "lets get right into this.....but first" blurb over and over. i have 2 of these pliers and NEVER known how to use them.
It's been 4 yrs since you made one of the most informative videos on UA-cam University. Please make more so I can join your class🙏🏼🙏🏼👏🏽👏🏽
Dude! I've had this tool in my toolbox for years and you have taught me the full capabilities of using it and I thank you. Best of luck!
I've been baffled by mine for forty years, and now I know!! LOL
Yes! I absolutely love the disclaimer! That’s what I’m talking about! Trim the fat and get right down to the solution- Bravo Sir!
I specifically dislike watching videos for how to information because the 2 minutes of information needed is woven into a 15 minute video. Here we have the video distilled into the essence of how to use brake spring pliers. Thank you for the brevity.
BRAVO! I'm so sick of seeing everyone's 2 minute intros
You are the hero we need. Thank you this was extremely informative
Thank you
You're a gentleman and a scholar. Passing on the old ways like a wise sage. Please post more no nonsense mechanic videos.
SUBSCRIBED. No self-aggrandization, no music; just direct, concise information. This is a productive video that doesn't waste one's time or test one's patience. Thank you. This was helpful.
Well done no crappy music. Less than 2 minutes . My total attention span
Love the intro. I wish more folks got this. Don’t wanna hear any bullshittin or war stories. Just straight to the point.
Lol absolutely agree dont care how old your dog is just to the point 👍
And I definitely don't want to hear their (usually) shitty taste in music.
I've always struggled using screwdrivers and pliers in the past, but then I bought a brake plier/tool set and wanted to give them a try. However, the set didn't come with any instructions. Thank you for taking the time to show us how to use these tools! Much appreciated!

And wounds that get oil and solvent in them
Thank you so much...I always see everyone fusing and struggling with that bottom spring and you showed (perfectly) how easy it is to take off and put on.
I was today years old when I learned to use a brake tool properly!
Then why are you here smart ass
i appreciate this video, a lot of youtubers nowadays give us their biography before showing a tool.
Best tutorial on the whole Internet on how to use these properly. As soon as I read your intro I knew this was the vid for me. 👌👍
This is the best video I have seen on this tool…Thank you!!!
I think I just increased my brake tool skills 100% thanks
This is the way how to video should be made. No bullshitting around taking 10 minutes to show you how to do a 30 second tutorial. 1,000 thumbs up!
Straight to the point, my kind of video… thank you cheers
I'm glad that you had a straight to the point video. the reason these other guys have such long videos is because they need to make money. As long as you watch 30 seconds of the video the total time counts towards their monthly minutes watched. You're a great guy. hats off to you!

Thanks so much. Got a pair of these from my dad's estate 20 years ago and never knew what to do with them!
Thanks I was trying to figure it out by myself and couldn't do it . Great video
Thanks for the direct approach. I learned something new today.
I TRULY appreciate the no nonsense straight to the point. I learned something!
Best how to video I have ever seen. This dude needs to do more videos
Awesome "No BS" video. Thanks! Very informative.
Good job mate, right to the point
I love drum brakes. It's so satisfying when the springs pop in place
when i tell you, since i was 18 i have been struggling with drum brakes and you have just saved me hours of struggling and bloody knuckles. THANK YOU!!!
upvote for the intro alone. I love this guy
Video GOLD, right here. Just discovered my late Dad's vintage Herbrand #183 brake pliers. Straight-talk video and I'm good to go.
I've had the basic Idea how to use these pliers for years this gave me a few more tips to make the job that much easier. With out all the fluff. Thanks
Thank you so much. I wish every "how-to" was exactly like this.
Doggone fantastic! Thank you, sir, for the no fluff, clear instruction on how to use these tools. Off to work on my brakes now!
Best introduction. No disgusting irritating music ,just information .thank you

This felt like when you ask an experienced mechanic in the shop for help. Thank you for taking the time to make this!
You made this knuckle busting, swear word combination inventing, frustrating task look incredibly simple. Thank you.
Thank you for the video. I went from a 30 min struggle with the springs, to a 1 second install. I never thought about using the brake shoe as leverage to pull the bottom spring.
This is how it works. Perfect. Thank you!
I have that same tool for years and I never knew what it's for. Thank you. Now I know! Subscribed...
You’re the best man. I appreciate you editing out the frustrating parts
Oh my goodness I’ve been using thin long nosed mole grips for years and struggled! What a tool and explination video! Thank you!!
Thank you!! I now feel more confident doing our drum brakes on both cars this week.
Thank you. I always had a tough time in removing the upper springs, your video helps a lot.
briliant. I've been fighting drum brakes, and brake pliers for years, this is magic
Years ago, back in the 70's, my brother showed me how to use these pliers half way, like you said. I never knew how to use the top part properly . Thank you . Short and sweet!
I have been looking for this video for years. I have never met anyone that actually knew how to use these pliers. Short and to the point. Thanks!
Nope, you tell me how great you are or I'm not watching this.........still waiting......... you took to long, I just watched it, - thank you, very helpful and ready for a much easier job now!

A great disclaimer at the beginning of the video. So great that I subscribed.
Thanks for the concise video. In the middle of a brake job and it helped alot
I absolutely love short and to the point videos. I would rather watch an advertisement than listen to a 5 min intro and story why you have to change your brakes.....
Great video thanks finally someone who doesn't take 5 minutes to talk about themself
Thanks ratcheting Randy. I never knew how to use the handle end of the pliers. Should make my brake job easier. Like to see how they work for hold down springs on bigger truck brakes
Top 10 videos on UA-cam. Nicely done.
This how to is what UA-cam is supposed to be.
Well done.
The best video over for these pliers!
Thank you so much. You just made drum brakes so much easier!!
Thanks for keeping it short and sweet.
