Al-sharpton and former civil rights lawyers like Obama that have connections that are connected only win the Demonrat party. And Most of the time the more rational blacks want to steer far clear of D.C. It's like a no win situation. Thomas Sowell, and Clarence Thomas don't like running as representatives of any party, and if they tried with the republican party they still wouldn't be liked, because they'd be "uncle toms" and not Democrats because their very foundational principles conflict with the Democrat platform

As for me, I'm still libertarian but find it harder and harder to agree with anything coming from the left. The right is "more right" than the left but they aren't without their own problems. Namely, lack of separation between church and state and the so called war on drugs which is nothing more than a war on people's personal decisions.

@@@rebelwithacause5217 It's coming. Fascism has been dead for decades. But we're presently, at long last, witnessing the death agony of the left as well. That's why they're lashing out with everything they can think of. On the other side of the bedlam is tradition, common sense and decency. That is actually what Trump announced at Mt Rushmore the other day, so at least someone on his staff is aware of it. Look at what is going on in Russia and Eastern Europe right now. They're ahead of the west in all of this, specifically because they have already been through the crucible of the totalitarianism the left is presently trying to set up in the west. They look at us and they see their childhood. They know where it leads, and so do a lot of Western and Central Europeans, the Germans most of all. They don't need to go through it again, and won't unless coerced by the USA and its fading globalist bureaucracies or by the Chinese.
The relevant question is how the USA and China will deal with it. The USA is basically the only place on the planet that has not yet been through the wringer, so to speak. That worries me, because bad ideas can easily sound like good ones to people who don't know better. Meanwhile the Chinese are at the absolute cultural nadir of totalitarianism right now. That can't last, and the same thing will eventually happen there: a return to traditional Chinese values and traditions and a rejection of totalitarianism. It's just a matter of time, and a question of how many people need to die first.
It is inevitable. We are living in a postmodern world since the start of WWI. yet all of our institutions have stubbornly wanted to cling to outdated modernist ideologies that have no place in current-day society. Not only Marxism, but Fascism, capitalism and environmentalism too. All these ideologies prescribe a single system for everyone, which is what has caused all our problems for the last century. Because it doesn't work. The fact that it doesn't work then causes bitter conflict between the various dysfunctional ideologies. Hopefully this is the last one before the whole menagerie of bad ideas go down the drain where they belong.

I’ve fact-checked Sowell’s writings and found that he lies A LOT. When he writes with the intent to make some person or group look bad, he makes up things to help his case.
For example, his book “The Vision of the Annointed” lies about The Club of Rome think tank, attributing an absurd false prediction to them. It says that their book The Limits to Growth predicted that the global economy would slow to a halt (due to depletion of resources) “sometime near the end of the 20th century”. The actual prediction in the their book was “If trends continue” resource-depletion will stall the global economy “sometime during the next 100 years”. The book was published in 1973, so the “trial period” for the prediction won’t end until 2073. Sowell described this prediction as “perhaps the most famous false prediction of modern times”. But no one can know if it will come true or not until 2073.
In the same book he attributes these two quotes to the famous American activist Ralph Nader: “the issues are black and white”, and “no honest person can disagree”. In the book’s references Sowell gives as the source of these two quotes a 6 volume set of books about the history of abortion-related court rulings in the United States titled “Planned Parenthood vs. Casey”. Ralph Nader isn’t quoted or even mentioned anywhere in the set of books.
When John Kerry was running for US President in 2004 against G. W. Bush Sowell published an editorial portraying Kerry as hypocritical. The editorial said that Kerry told a group of US autoworkers that he was “a proud owner of an SUV”, but later when speaking to a group of environmentalists said “his family owned the SUV, not him”. I found what Kerry actually said to the autoworkers with a Lexis-nexis search (Lexis can be accessed from the library of the university where I live, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana USA). Kerry’s actual words were, “I’m a proud owner of a Chrysler minivan”.
About six weeks after the Sept. 11 2001 terrorist attack against the World Trade Center Sowell published an editorial about a speech given at Georgetown University by former US President Bill Clinton. Sowell wrote that Clinton said “we are still paying the price” for an act of terrorism. The editorial clearly implies that Clinton was referring to the recent WTC attack, and implies that resentment about the warring of Crusaders in the middle easy long ago motivated the attack. When one examines the actual text of Clinton’s speech one sees that Clinton indeed was referring to terror done by American military forces…Sherman’s March during the US Civil War. US General Sherman had his men burn down the houses of tens of thousands of US citizens in the US state of Georgia. This indeed was terror…the intentional targeting of civilians. But anyone who reads the speech can see that Clinton wasn’t making any kind of reference to the WTC attack.
I could go on and on. I could give a dozen more examples of such lies by Sowell. They are easy to find: when Sowell writes with the intent of making some person or group look bad, he LIES.

Jesus, dude, you're literally arguing time frames and Symantecs. That's on the level of being a grammar nazi. He's the greatest conservative philosopher of the past century. It's gonna take a lot more than "he called a minivan an SUV which is wrong" to take him down. How about arguing against some ideas? Rather than these ridiculous technicalities.

Even if Trump got back in. I don't know if Trump would listen to him and Sowell won't stick around to give ignored advice. If he does get back in I hope he Burns 10 Trillion of the debt instantly by just tearing down the bloated government as it accomplished just as much if not more so 20 years ago at literally 400 percent more funding. It is going to make a lot of institutions suffer but that suffering is not from Trump. It's thinking that they had trillions of printed bonds that only represent a number not value. Anyone that thinks their company went from 50 million to 5 Billion by just existing as they were should fall just as fast as they rose if not farther.

Dave man, it's fun watching you navigate through the same paths I think many of us who are intellectually curious have ventured. Thomas Sowell is a terrific human being and you hosted a good interview with him. One of your biggest personal qualities in your show is your open mind towards differing view points and showing viewers that is not only okay, but a strong personal characteristic, to listen more, ask questions to clarify what basis your guests have for their positions, and not thrust an ill-conceived opinion forward as fact blindly and stubbornly while ignoring real world truths that they understand and that you may not.
You've done very well in allowing yourself to take in information and make adjustments to your belief system which is easier said than done. We would be in a much better position as a country if more people would take after you in that. Too many of us are closed off from learning from others that we may differ from in views, specifically when we don't have all of the facts nor have much, if any foundation for basing our opinions. Your first Larry Elder interview wasn't your worst moment or show, it was proven to be one of your best because you didn't shut down his voice, his truth-telling, and you allowed him to make his attempt to shine a light on a topic you didn't have a strong foundation in. It proved to be one of your largest triumphs that you absorbed some of his reasoning into your own thinking on the subject and allowed it to form your opinion going forward once you verified some of the truth's he mentioned regarding race hustling, baiting, crime statistics, etc.
I wish this interview had been longer w/Sowell, but you did well in the time you had. It's always a positive to expose T. Sowell to a wider audience. Thanks again for the work you're doing Rubin.
    ~A fan

Straight White Male Those are not 'free markets'. A free market is one that's defined by all parties being secure in their person and property, and all interactions being mutually voluntary.
The presence of reciprocal exchange in an institution doesn't make it a free market based one.
