  • With all the benefits of sauna use, I decided to build one myself, in my garage. In this video, I build a towel rack to store some of the accessories needed for my sauna.

    Awesome build! Two tips, that is 100% not how you should apply Rubio Monocoat, lol, and second, plastic straws work great for getting the glue out of corners.
    You should definitely start mentioning prices in your videos think that would attract a lot of viewers.

    Seems very well put together. You had previous experience building sauna's? Also, is there a rough estimate of the material cost involved with this design?

    You should remove DIY from title though. This is more DIYD (do it if you dare)

    I am working on the same 15 kW sauna heater and I had a question how to wire it and what kind of wire did you run? How many amps is your breaker and stuff like that if you don’t mind telling me.

    When you tested the sauna did it smell from the glue? I never heard of anyone using glue in that enviroment. Also I am surprised that you used tiles in a sauna, doesn’t it get to hot for your feet? Normally you use waterproof floors and then wood on top of that, wood that are not tite together and not fastend and a bit up from the floor so you can take them out and hose down the floor.

      @DaveyStruggle  Рік тому +3

      First use to over a year later, the sauna had no glue smell. Only the scent of cedar. No, the tile stays really cool (if I was to guess, about 70 degrees). The heater gives off most of its heat upward, even sitting next to it is cooler than sitting on the top bench. Use a mop to clean up the floor, never needed to hose it down.

    It looks awesome! I hope the result of mine will be similar. I did not see a drain on the floor of your sauna, isn't it useful?

      I’ve been using my sauna for almost 2 years now, and having no drain has not made use any more difficult. Installing one would have added unnecessary cost and labor, in my case.

    Theres only one flaw in your sauna and its actually a big one, theres no floor drain. "Dry sauna" isnt even a thing, if youre not throwing water to kiuas youre missing the whole point of sauna. Sauna isnt ment to be a 200f dry droom, its ment to be humid af. Might just as well put a radiator in your closet and call that a sauna.

    • @DaveyStruggle
      @DaveyStruggle  Рік тому +13

      Every sauna session I throw water on the sauna rocks to increase the humidity of the room. That water never makes it to the ground, because the heat of the rocks instantly turns that liquid into a gas. Therefore, having a drain in a dry (yet humid) sauna is not necessary.

      @@DaveyStruggle well id say i know something about saunas, because ive been working with them for my whole life in Finland. Youre supposed to throw everywhere from 2-15 liters of water to the stove during a sauna session, If youre unable to, your stove is way too hot.
      Drain is absolutely necessary also because youre supposed to wash your sauna at least twice a year, with running water or your Sauna will be filthy from all the sweat, making it an extremely unhygienic place.

    • @DaveyStruggle
      @DaveyStruggle  Рік тому +9

      I pour about a 1/2 cup of water at a time. 2-15 liters is not necessary. Therefore, in my humble opinion, a drain is also not necessary to acquire a hygienic sauna. I spot clean the walls and mop the floors more frequently.

      @@DaveyStruggle Bro its not a real sauna experience if the sauna is not at least 176,00 farenhait. 1/2 cup of water is not enough.

      He’s right you def need a drain in this sauna, you will eventually need to wash the boards not to mention all the sweat that will be all over!

    What are your sauna dimensions? Did you use 1/4 inch cedar?

    • @DaveyStruggle
      @DaveyStruggle  Рік тому

      About 8’ high x 8’ deep and 5.5’ wide. The planks I used are considered 1x6”. Actually dimensions are 5/8” x 5 1/4”.
