  • Got a service call on a John Deere 9RX 640 with a hydraulic fan drive problem. I show my current shop projects, show Josh’s new Matco and Snap-On tool boxes, give a tool review on the Milwaukee M12 high speed extended reach ratchet, and I pay a visit to my favorite S680 combine.

    Definitely a fan of Milwaukee tools myself. Have lots of them. I found it interesting that the hydraulic controller looks just like a IPR for a 444 International engine.

    Thanks for another great video ZK.
    It was interesting and enjoyable.
    Thanks for doing this review type talking about jobs you have done or are working on. For me personally I do not always need to see wrench’s flying and all that. Yes, on a lot of the jobs is nice to see what you are doing. But I really enjoyed you talking about the jobs and kind of a review of your work. Found that interesting. Thanks for explaining your outlook about the electrical tools you have. Seems that is the trend right now.
    Thanks for showing us Josh ‘s new toolbox and traveling box. All are very nice and am sure are expensive items to purchase. Nice pieces Josh.
    The job you did show us was interesting. It turned out to be a wiring issue versus a parts issue. Electrical work is not always easy but better than having to go a lot of take off and on type work.
    Nice going on that job ZK. Taught me you can look for the electrical issue some time and not parts replacement. Thanks.
    Guess that is my talk for now. Always enjoy your channel ZK. Learn a lot from you.
    Thanks for everything.
    You take care and be safe.

    Zeth those rotor bearings can be a pain to remove. I’ve found the best way is to pull the seal off and air hammer the cage, separate the ball bearings enough to get a blind housing puller inside, then use an impact on the puller, mine is an SKF set. Saves tons of struggle and time. Hope it helps ya on future rotor bearings🤘🏻

Bonus points for details on how you prevent them breaking in the first place. You have had bits of that every time you get into exhaust studs, but haven't seen many actually break off for you. Enjoying the videos, man.

    I really like that you took the time to pull that plug apart and replace the terminal. A lot of technicians would've cut that plug off, through a couple heat shrink, splice connectors in there and called it a day. That is a massive variable displacement, hydraulic pump running that fan is that all it runs or did I miss some thing and that pump is responsible for some thing else as well? I have worked on aerial lifts that have pumps that size to drive the entire machine. Haha

      Looks like a really nice clean solution to the fandrive challenge. This problem looked quite unusual and I expect these probably can provide a trouble free long-life system. If the software does not demand fast speed changes the bearings will have less load shocks and last longer. Interesting to watch the demand response in diagnostics.

    Love your videos, learning a ton. Have a question on a 9420 we own. Had a hydraulic leak underneath near the main hydraulic pump...my brother kept driving it to finish where he was wven though the alarms were screaming to stop. Had our local JD dealer tech come look at it. The 9420 drives and shifts like it should, but none of the scv functions work properly...low hydraulic pressure. The pump was completely rebuild...the hydraulic stacks all gone through...still acts the same. I am into this project $16,000 and no solution. My tech is the best in 200 miles and he knows his stuff....but we are both wondering about this. Just wondering if you have ever dealt with anything like this.

      @ZKMasterTech  Рік тому

      I have to use an inspection form on a program called Codify. It is like a check list on everything on the combine or tractor and I can select whether it’s red, needs fixed now, yellow, can run another season, or green, it’s good. Then all the red segments gets added to the summary where you can add labor and parts to reach task to give the customer an estimate on repairs. It’s not available to customers. But there used to be paper inspection sheets but we don’t use them anymore. Don’t think they are available to customers.
