Review of the CZ 457 Varmit Precision Trainer with Manners stock and Area 419 30moa base. All footage was captured using the Tacticam 5.0 scope mounted camera.
Thank you for making this video I have been watching a lot of videos on this model as well as the Precision I can't tell you how many Schmucks should not even be making videos for UA-cam they talk about useless nonsense and they do not know how to present a subject I trust your expertise in long range shooting and it shows in your video content thanks for a great video you have truly showed the accuracy potential of this rifle
Nice rifle!! Rim fire is always fun but when it's a quality built platform that makes one ragged hole ... it makes for a blast at longer ranges. Awesome as always X-RING
I just bought the CZ 457 canadian edition with 20 inch barrel and its the best 22 i have ever shot! 1 inch groups at 100 yards with 22 is pretty great with some SK trainer ammo! ✌🏼😎👍🏼
So now that you know this exists, you might want to look into the Charlie TARAC, a periscope that fits on the front of your optic, allows for much more up/down travel and allows the scope to see over the barrel for extreme long range shooting. I don't have one but maybe Santa will bring me one some day.
Nice review X-ring . CZ make great rimfire and centerfire rifles that are relatively inexpensive considering what one gets for their money . In 25 years I haven’t heard anything bad about the quality and reliability of any CZ rifle . The only thing I don’t like about my 452 model 2E CZ Rimfire is that it came with a hogs back Germanic type stock , there were no American style stocks available back in the late 1980s and 1990s but one learns to make do with it .
I have two of the 452, 2E's. Personally I love the hogback stock. Its perfect for (and meant for) open sights. However, it's horrible for a scoped rifle.
I have the same gun with the Boyd’s at one stock love it and it has adjustable pull length and cheek riser as well it just is an awesome accurate little gun !! Nice shooting great video
Ray I have the same Rifle/ SK standard place hands-down the most accurate ammunition in my rifle half MOA at 100 yard shooting rabbits at 200 yards no problem lots of fun on steel with Aguila interceptor a 6 inch plate at 400 yards no problem I love this thing more than my Anschutz
Nice shooting as always. Nice to see performance from different ammo. I love the cci standard velocity. It seems to perform well with all 5 22 rifles I own.
Nice 👍, a friend of mine has a CZ in 22 Magnum that shoots 3/4 inch @ 50 Yards groups all day long with a variety of different brands of ammunition. He uses it to shoot Foxes 🦊 , Crows , rabbits and Hare out to around 120 yards on a small hobby farm .
@@conservativesniperhunter7439 they are underrated caliber and cheap to shot aswell lost cheaper than a 243 😄 I was looking at an anschutz 1716 model but don't fancy paying thousand pound for a 22wmr
Thanks for the review! Hope you can also do a comperision video with the Ruger Percision Rimfire. That would be awesome! I couldn't even find any on UA-cam. 🍻
Great gun, now try the slight upgrade with the Precision trainer MTR. Trigger adjusted down to sub 1 lb safely and it is a phenomenal shooter, but with the match barrel/chamber it only likes the pricey stuff. Mine loves SK Red....can’t find any of the tenex to try in this ammo drought.
Nice review. My VPT loves SK ammo look at rifle match and long range match if you are stretching it out. Also reach out to Manners stocks. Ask about getting the cheek riser they use on the CS stock
Holy $#!+ X .. that was some nice footage there ..love the hole set up.. im going to get 1 u just made up my mind.. I want it 4 long range shooting love to do that what do u think 20in or 24in is there much of a velocity difference wit a 22lr. .not much powder pushing that lead out .. think a 24in barrel well have slower velocity... love the video 👏👏👍
I guess the high price is because of the stock? Also, it looks like I would prefer my scope to be mounted lower. I like the rail but the one your using appears too high for me. Thanks for the video.
I'm wanting an accurate Rifle for small game hunting and plinking....I'm torn between this CZ 457 Rifle and the Bergara B14 HMR in 22-250 ....ammo price is crazy at about $2.25 per round for 22-250 and about $ 0.40 for the 22lr ammo ....I'm leaning towards the CZ because of ammo cost . Any suggestions would be appreciated
I know your comment is 7 months old, but I bought a 457 chassis varmit precision and liked it so much I just bought a 547 varmit precision trainer match with the Manners stock that is made for the Arca rail and cheek piece msrp $1635. I think CZ saw enough of these type of videos saying make one with a cheek riser, so they did...but they're proud of it. That said, it is incredible! I mean it's a tack driver...both are, but the match gun does shoot a little better than the chassis gun. The 457 chassis is no slouch though. To your point of ammo cost...I can now get SK pink box for $270 for 2000 rounds...so I'm willing to shoot 100 rounds 3 times a week. I have nice centerfires, but don't get that kind of range time with them and I can go to a 300 yd range and have a ball, rather than seek out a 1000 yd range for my center fire rifles. Anyhow I'm very pleased, and my 10 yr old daughter enjoys it too.
@@Tbowie13 I purchased the Bergara B14 HMR 22-250 in November...it's a shooter making less the 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards with factory ammunition....but...finding ammunition for it Sucks in my area so...I sold it back to the store and purchased a Kimber pistol
The cz is a great 22 I love mine best bang for your buck and are they ever accurate ! I have never heard anything negative about them . Wish there were more left handed ones though but that can be said for all the brands .
@@davejones3923 I hear ya...my mother and daughter are left handed. I guess that is an advantage to a bolt rifle, a left handed person can get away with shooting without getting brass to the face. I think they make that 457 Royal in a left handed model if I'm not mistaken.
@@robertsalyers1351 Ues Sir...22-250 is a great coyote round, but kinda expensive for popping holes in paper. Kimbers are nice, I bought 4 of em back in 07 or 08 very nice shooting pistols...I've been a 1911 fan for quite some time. Anyhow if you ever choose to go with a cz457, you won't go wrong. I typically shoot 3 days a week, most of the time is .22, but since I'm already there, I run a mag of 9mm, .38, or .45 just to stay fresh on handguns. Good shooting to ya bud. BTW, since I shoot .22 so much I got a Glock 44 which is the exact same frame as the G19...so I can shoot that alot for mechanics, and switch to the g19 for recoil control. It has saved me a ton of money...the ammo savings has more than paid for the G44.
I have disassembled every gun I've ever bought and very thoroughly cleaned it before firing first round. I always find left over machine oil and grit and junk in the gun. Then I re-lube everything and go shoot. Did you literally pull that piece out of the box and shoot it? Looks like it's gonna be a shooter! Thanks for sharing!
Always great watching your videos. I notice you're holding center at one mil above the chevron: is this intentional, I'm guessing because you find the chevron a bit intrusive? If this is the case, what's your favorite reticle: I'm looking at the Vortex EBR 2C with the open center and wondering if you would prefer this or the 7C with the teeny tiny center dot?
I'm open to new informaiton, but with my current understanding I don't understand the barrel length comment. 22lr reaches max velocity around 15-16". There really is no difference in velocity between a 16"-20" barrel, and the longer barrel creates more pronounced vibration (harmonics). A shorter barrel for any given sectional density (barrel diameter) will be inherantly more accurate. If I have something wrong, please let me know.
Well, the velocity statement is true. Marginal velocity differences. However, we have to think about stabilization. Since this video we have found that 22”-26” barrels while slower, are less picky on ammunition and seem to hold groups better at long range. Another thing, look at all of the smallbore and Olympic shooters. Most all of them run 26” barrels. There is a reason.
@@XRING I think the olympic shooters run a longer barrel because they use iron sights and it gives them a longer sight radius. It would be interesting to see a "Barrel by the Inch" study to see if barrel length impacts accuracy.
I’m a CZ fan. Enjoyed my SP01 Shadow in Production. Would be nice to have a rimfire bolt gun. Have yet to see anyone with a lefty unless you go custom action.

Great video. I wish more companies chambered in .22tcm that rock island cartridge. I'd love this in that. Is there anything else out there like that round? Have you tried that cartridge?
Psh, you shooting some nice ass pistol ammo, Tenex is like 35cpr right now. But then again CCI SV is close to 20cpr, only a few c cheaper than Center X. Makes no sense. Love the Athena. One of my favorite reticles for sure. Grabbed a GLx 6-24 with it for my B14r. Absolutely loving the new GLx line, they nailed it imo. Incredible turrets / tracking for the money. Optics definitely arent PLx level imo, but they are very good. Not sure what any of this has to do with the 457. What was my point again?
Great review Ray! Maybe you could shed some light on what you think I should buy, I want to shoot in the production class. I read you have up to $1,500 more for the rifle and scope. So here's two options that I have been kicking around. Should I go with the CZ 457 pro varmint 16.5" barrel msrp $615 with a better vortex strike eagle (34 mm tube) 5-25 msrp $799.99 Or go with the Cz 457 varmint MTR 20.5" match action and barrel msrp $785 and a lesser quality scope vortex diamondback tactical (30mm tube) 6-24 msrp $499.99?
