- After replacing my cam chain tensioner in Iowa, I pick up the journey west to Sturgis. Along the way I encounter a brutal summer heat wave, find some beautiful camping spots, and get caught in a vicious storm as I close in on the Black Hills.

What the heck could you be possibly doing out there keeping ya from putting out another video. 😂 I'm parked at the Ohio Indiana line bored and literally, nobody is pitting out any videos. I wanted to make it out there SOOOO bad this year but 2nd year in a row Bidenomics has kept me needing to work. I got that adv 160. Don't get me wrong it's no new streetglide st I sold, but I actually like it

SD badlands are really cool, formed by a mega lake breaking an ice dam, 1000ft deep water traveling at 400mph washed over that land completely decimating everything in its path including solid rock, and all in a matter of hours!

Excellent video. I'm glad you landmark your videos with the locations that you travel. I cross reference those "landmarks" using Google Maps. That was a messy storm that blew through Wind-River, um I mean White-River lol. Did you have to buy new poles for your tent afterward?
They're pretty badly bent but still hanging in there. Cost of doing business in this part of the world lol

man i miss the trips to sturgis! for me its 1700 miles from the gulf coast, takes me 3 days to do it. I haven't been since 2021 and it was freekin hot! a heat wave that yr. I tried staying where you guys camp and it was hotter even at night! I got me a room for 2 nights then stayed in spearfish canyon campground and enjoyed the hell out of that!

welcome to SD. I use a Haven tent (lay flat Hammock) awesome and well worth it. put it on the ground or in the air. been out in storms, slept great as the tent-ers got rained out. took there rain fly and flattened there tent.

Hey have fun in Sturgis, you brought back memories for me of my Sturgis times, the opressive heat and some of the freakiest storms, but the great times I had were worth it, it usually took me about a week to recover, my last time there was for the 50s and my first was in 78 got the patches on my cuts that are hanging in my shop, in those days they used to sew the patch on for you volunteer ladys at the town hall, greetings from Mexico, say hi to Scotty for me

We had 2 waves of hail this evening in Deadwood. I got caught in the first wave and spent the second wave under a motel awning w some other bikers.

Almost every general aviation airport in the US allows camping many have full shower setups and it doesn’t cost a dime. Just an fyi and if anyone gives you a hard time tell them your in the area going to look and plane your doing a pre-buy on.

Mother Nature isn't always kind, especially in South Dakota in July and August. My sister was just in Spearfish for a wedding and the heat was awful. Stay safe and hydrated.
