Watch Dave Cantebury, Corporals Corner, etc..., on how to set up a tent. Out west, the weather is occasionally quite wicked. We always prepare for 60 mph winds. We drive 60 miles to our grocery store. We always prepare for a SHTF moment. Yeah, most times, it is nice. But when it's bad, it is a time you'll never forget.
It wouldn't be Sturgis without wind, rain & hail, seems we run into that every year. Be Safe, been watching your channel for several years, and really enjoy it!!!
Glad your ok brother sorry about your camping gear really enjoyed your content ive been watching for a long time last year your riding vidio was great listening to your Harley running to me is better then that background music a lot of them plays have a great time b safe looking forward to your next vidio
I feel your pain, stayed in a Coleman tent at Kickstands last year. Tent blew out two nights running then the rain ( Monsoon ) came. No fun at all! Good luck. Head to Cabellas and buy yourself a low profile quality tent!
if still looking for a cheap place , Go to 9th street in Sturgis, follow it up hill to Ellen St. on corner of 9th and Ellen st. is a camp site. very cheap they have Bathrooms and showers, and laundry, and feeds you 3 times a day , just ask for donation, for food I believe it 20 a nite. '''''''the place is up on the hill to the left of sign on mountain that says Sturgis. This the best kept Secret in Sturgis. Just pay in morning if come in late, No designated area just find a spot
What you experienced is not unusual for that location. Good thing you didn’t get hail. That’s why I don’t camp in the open plains. Get behind a building or in some healthy trees. Fare well for remainder of week.
It was a Coleman insta setup. It served me very well for several years. Best tent I ever had. Last year it started to show its age, started to get water in it. I decided to go one more year with it.
I just saw video footage of the rain in Deadwood and they got hammered with rain. I think the tent purchase was worthwhile based on what I saw over there in deadwood. Hope the tent holds up for ya. Rally tents and canopies take a lot of abuse and you are not alone im sure.
Buy a Helinox cot or better a Teton cot and a small collapsible table (Trekology). That will help anchor down the floor of the tent. The cot and table can reenforce the wall of the tent that the wind is coming in from to help with rigidity in the event of storm. Don’t ask how I learned such idiotic things. I hope you have taken other precautions because that is bear country up there. All my best.
$79.98 for the tent… best to leave that tent in the bag 😬. There isn’t a tent made that can survive sustained 80 mph winds, but I’ve had a Cabelas expedition tent for over 20 years, that cost me almost $500.00 all those years ago. 🤷🏻♂️
Invest in a North Face or Mountain Hardware summit tent. You:ll be happy you did and there isn’t a wind that will ever knock you over again. They also last a lifetime

Glad you're safe man. You really turned that situation around quick and the tent looks good! Keep safe and keep us updated.
Thanks! Will do!

Never know what the weather going to do back there... glad your safe!! Have fun hope to see you out and about next week when we get there

That hailstorm last year was a doozie. Baseball sized stuff. Phones telling everyone to seek shelter.
Bad experiences make good stories
Windy in South Dakota? Who wudda thunk?
At least you and the bike are safe!
As long as the bike and trailer are ok!
What campground do you recommend for sturgis?
Hey man glad your ok stay safe out there you never know about the weather

oh yeah you WILL see deer in morning and evening, the food is buffet style , awesome food
Tent money!
Wow! Thanks!
Any free camping during the event?
I think there's free camping available somewhere on BLM land that is in between Sturgis and Deadwood. I don't know exactly where, though.
@LetsGoTraveling free camping just outside of badlands park just south of wall drug. I have camped there a few times
Camp spot looks peaceful. I live over in rapid. Like 25 mins away from sturgis.

Have a great time sir and be safe up there.
Be safe out there.
SD Prairie Rattlers love slithering into a warm sleeping bag..,
tent on an open prairie, never a good idea :)
I agree. I must have been dodging bullets all these years and finally got hit this time.
What kind and brand of tent was that
For that wind the new tent is to tall or not enough poles for that wind
It was a Coleman insta setup. It served me very well for several years. Best tent I ever had. Last year it started to show its age, started to get water in it. I decided to go one more year with it.
Always carry the camper (and handyman) secret weapon, duct tape 🤣
Rough start. Hope the storms didn’t get you again last night
It did get really windy again, but the new tent survived. Just a minor issue.
Was your tent the only one that the wind took down?
been watching you for years keep up the good work
First year I have not been in area hope Sturgis goes well this year
There’s a Cabela’s in Rapid City just off I-90.

Love your videos. What campground do you stay at Sturgis? It looks so quiet and peaceful
Thanks
I don't like revealing where I'm camping at while at Sturgis. Thanks!

As long as it lasts the rest of this trip, I'll be satisfied.

We have a mountain hardware shifter 4 and that thing is great in bad weather. We use it the rockies and SD Bern great.
Glad ur motorcycle is safe
Sometimes it’s best to get a Hotel
Wal-Mart usually has a pretty good selection. I think they carry the Coleman. brand. You should try to salvage your old tent parts. Poles, stakes.
That same blow hit DMV (Joe) 100 miles E. of Rapid City.
Oh jimmy that’s a camping disaster for sure take care
try fleet farm in Rapid for a tent
Thanks for the suggestion! I found one at Wall Drug!
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Stay safe
Any Dancing Girls come with that Overpriced Burger? Damn
