My father owned the same type, although it was a 240D, a 1980 model imported from the Gulf.
It was an LHD with no power steering that he used until recently as a single owner. Maintenance and finding components were a difficulty, so it had to be sold.
Even the air conditioning hadn't been working for years.
Another nail in the coffin was the fear of scrapping vintage autos.
Overall, this was a fantastic automobile if only we'd known there were qualified mechanics on hand.

My father owned an Audi 80, 1982 model, RHD, diesel, imported from Kuwait in 1985. Registration # KLI 5466.
The car was in excellent condition until it met with an accident in 2012. My father used to maintain the car like his own son.
My father passed away in 2014. We still have lot of spares in original packing case and keeping as souvenir.

The wheels, sunroof and the double shaded color scheme spoiled this gem. It should have restored to its stock condition. Proudly I own a W123 240D and its 99% stock.
The feel of driving this car is something different. Thanks to the owner for restoring this gem and to Baiju Nair for the review.

So happy to see my childhood car, we had three of these (white 1979 250 Inline 6cyclinder carburettor engine - mannual transmission,Grey 1980 280E fuel injected manual - transmission and the last was a burgundy 1983 230E Full automatic top variant... the other two had power windows and power mirrors) in Dubai back until1997. After viewing this episode, it brought lots of memories... Thank you baiju chetta for that... Now speaking about the arm rest... In all our three cars there was arm rest along with four seat belts in each. That small nobe that you asked about, just below that two Ac vents is for air flow to the front windshield for defogging and will cut off the air flow of ac from ac vents... Two of our cars had them working.... My dad's favourite was the 1979 250.. carburettor stright 6 engine... It was so powerfull among the three... That had same genuine leather interior colour as of this car and has the wheel cups ... Our other two had alloy wheels.... My dad being a mechanic and he was a pro in Mercedes of his era and classic too.. arabs used to bring there classic too... Until he closed his workshop....

The lever in the middle is to draw in fresh unheated air from outside. In Kerala you won't notice anything as there is no cool air outside. In cold areas like Europe this is useful during long journeys in winter. Excellent presentation Baiju

Mileage 12,13,14 വരെ കിട്ടും 6 ഗിയർ ആയത്കൊണ്ട് 👍

This Mercedes looks beautiful and they have done a great job.. However, I wish they would've spent more attention to certain areas such as the roof and the floor. The seats looks superb and the exterior is wonderful. As you said the W123s area so popular and you would see these cars wherever you go around the world.. I`ve seen mint conditioned W123s in UK and Australia.. I once owned a C200 Kompressor and it was an eye catcher.. A Mercedes Benz is always a stunning car. Thanks for the video and the men who spent time and effort behind this.

0:24 W is not stands for E Class.. there is WDD(E-class, C-Class, S-class), WDC for(GLC, ML, GL, GLE, GLS) and new models are W1K(C-Class, E-class), W1N(GLS, GLE) And W is stands for Germany. Not E-class.
