Cheers Paddy. Yes, you have to time it right for access. I had tried a few times during the lockdowns without joy. The crowds are because you no longer have to pre-register, you can do it on the day.
Amazing that encounter with the Thai bloke. You speak such good Thai Karl. Good on you. I'm still at a few hundred words but never mind. Wonderful hike you did. Have to be fit for that one. Thank you Karl 😊
I enjoy most of those little encounters too. It was very hot and I should have drank more. I didn’t take so much as a sip until we reached the top. Cheers
You made that lad's day when he recognized you Karl. Great reaction...That rock looked very sharp. I'm just recovering from a gash in my leg that exposed my shinbone so I know it doesn't take much to slice you open...It looks like it took you a bit longer than it would usually have done. Great work as usual.
It made my day too tbh. That rock is so sharp and there’s loads of it in Thailand, so easy to get a scrape or worse, glad to hear you’re recovering Mark. Yes, the crowds really slowed things down which I wouldn’t have minded if it hadn’t been for the sun. Cheers
I reached for a loose tree/shrub but let go as I could tell it wouldn’t hold my weight. They saw it as a reason to give me instructions for every footstep after that so I commented in Thai and had a joke with them to break the pattern lol. Cheers
Great stuff as usual Karl, love how you shock Thai people with your fluency! It's interesting seeing normal Thai people having a day out; something you rarely see on UA-cam.
11:36 - that assent reminds me of climbing Mt Sinai - (Gebel Mousa, or Mount Moses). There is a stretch before the summit where it's almost vertical and you need to haul yourself up using chains - I spent on New Years night up there and it was totally etheric.
Sounds brilliant. Tbh there’s not much high altitude stuff in Thailand but still plenty of adventure to be had and always with a bit of Thailand flavour to it. Thanks
"A mountain looks friendly only from a longer distance" I love PKK hope it stays as clean and quite as it is without malls , cinemas and discos or redlight areas
It was certainly crowded Jimmy and it did make everything take at least twice as long. Until recently you needed to book the hike in advance but now you can just turn up and register on the morning. Cheers
Actually it was only the heat and the queues that were bad. If it wasn’t for them we would have been up and down before it got too hot. Hope you are well, cheers
As you said Karl for this particular hike being part of a group is probably better. Normally I prefer to go solo but being paced and having the security of people around can be worth having. Great vlog! And what a view!
Thanks Karl, that was a really good video, very entertaining and watched it all the way through. Makes me think of doing something beyond videoing my food! The traffic problems I would normally think of, on a bank holiday, would be in cars though! Need a lie down after that lol!
Super busy. Sure the view up there was amazing, if just a little cramped. Definitely would never make it up there, so thanks again for seeing somewhere interesting.
Did Brian say "We came to play conkers"... 5555 That looks like serious hard work, but ultimately worth it for the views and yes that lady was definately prettier than you!. A shame there were quite so many others on the climb, but beggars can't be choosers when they open it so rarely. Another impressive vlog.
Conkers/conquer lol. It’s a great hike but there’s no doubt that the queues meant spending far more time waiting in the sun than would have been ideal. Some of the ladies on that hike were a bit distracting tbh. Cheers
what an accomplishment. upper body and lower both required. the story here was the numbers of people that were with you. with a heavy emphasis on being young.
Karl grylls back with another banger you always got good relevant commentary Celebrity recognize, what a buzz Donno if travel insurance would like if i did this one, I'll stick to climbing soi 6 2nd road to beach road 555 I had a look at a abandon building with a thai guy, check out the vid
Looks like they need to restrict the numbers going up per hour. That could be dangerous if someone was to fall. I would join the others in saying great video, but its what we've come to expect from you now. So much better than the walking the streets of pattaya
Yes Tim. Previously you had to pre-register for the hike but now you can just register on the day making it more accessible. I suspect that’s why it was so crowded. Unfortunately the algorithm seems to reward the Soi walkers, soy boys and dizzy couples lol. Cheers
That wasn't a hike up a hill that was mountaineering going up mount Everest, but what a view I bet you where knackered when you climbed down 🥵🥵🥵 but i can guarantee the cold doctor Leo's did the trick.
No way I wouldgo out on that view point,I found out the other day that my stability has gone. I climbed on my roof in Oz to fix a leaking tile. My balance is going.. I sucks to get old..
Yes but they have recently changed their policy from having to pre-register to being able to register on the day. I suspect this new policy increased the numbers on the hike. Cheers
Drives me crazy being able to look at the mountain from my patio knowing I’ll never make it up there. But after watching this I’m glad I gave up on the stair section. My knees just wouldn’t have made that. Really enjoyed seeing what I’m missing out on though. Thanks. I’ll have to settle for the stunning view from my patio. Pretty nice consolation prize, I love Prachuap Khiri khan, couldn’t have settled in a better place. IMHO
Great find Karl (as usual) it's a shame they open it only on bank holidays as that seems to be why it's so busy!
Cheers Paddy. Yes, you have to time it right for access. I had tried a few times during the lockdowns without joy. The crowds are because you no longer have to pre-register, you can do it on the day.
Glad to see you on Khao Lom Muak. 😁
Thanks. Yes, great to meet you too!
Wow tough one this , great video again as always 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks Colin. Yes, definitely steep
🇹🇭 Another great video 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you

Wow talk about traffic jam but with people ✌️ I was getting giddy watching 😅 interesting climb and what a magnificent view. Well done 🙏
Cheers FDU. The crowds were a bit of a downer but overall a great experience.

Great video Karl Thanks 😊l like the reactions and the look on their faces when they realise you speak Thai 🇹🇭
I reached for a loose tree/shrub but let go as I could tell it wouldn’t hold my weight. They saw it as a reason to give me instructions for every footstep after that so I commented in Thai and had a joke with them to break the pattern lol. Cheers
Another great video Karl! ❤ We were surprised to see how many people there were on that hike...so crowded😮
You and me both! It could be done in half the time without the crowds. Cheers
Great vid again mate.
Thanks again!
Great video mate great work and great travels mate
Glad you enjoyed it Nigel. Cheers buddy
Blood hell !!! i bet it was knackering doing that ascent. Respect
Cheers Ian. It certainly got a bit hot up there lol.
Fabulous adventure , great content, the views are fantastic , shame it was packed. It certainly got the heart rate up 😊.
Well done 👏
Glad you enjoyed it Glyn, yes the crowds were the only downside. Coming down was even tougher lol. Cheers
Very interesting piece of land n mountain attached to the main land no need of ferry.
Climb was very challenging...nice video 👍
Yes it was. We started early but the crowds meant it was already intensely hot well before we reached the top. Cheers
Great stuff as usual Karl, love how you shock Thai people with your fluency! It's interesting seeing normal Thai people having a day out; something you rarely see on UA-cam.
Cheers. Yes, Thais have got a lot more into outdoor pursuits in recent years. Cheers

You quoted that one before and yes, it’s very true. Prachuap certainly has that small town charm. Cheers
Great video Karl! What a spectacular view and thanks for sharing 😊
My pleasure Marietta, thanks for
Great effort and stunning view. I've often thought about doing this but, you know me, I have no patience for crowds mate.
It was certainly crowded Jimmy and it did make everything take at least twice as long. Until recently you needed to book the hike in advance but now you can just turn up and register on the morning. Cheers
I fear I would have had to 'tap out' on this one. ↗
Actually it was only the heat and the queues that were bad. If it wasn’t for them we would have been up and down before it got too hot. Hope you are well, cheers
Deffo one of the best views Karl. Mad how the Thai women outnumber the men on the hikes.. maybe the blokes are at home drinking Sangsom. 😮
It’s often the case on these hikes Ant. Maybe you’re right, they guys all on a big session lol. Hope you are well buddy !
Yeah, well mate. Looking forward to the next one...the long one 😅
Karl, you are the Beast for getting up that hill with that big body of yours, amazing vid!
Thanks Robert. I must admit that there are many times here I realise just how much of an advantage small size can be. Cheers
Looks like another great trip Karl. Better to be with a lot of people than alone with some crazy monkeys I always say.
This one had people and monkeys lol. But they were Langurs that tend to be much better behaved than the more common Macaque monkeys. Cheers
As you said Karl for this particular hike being part of a group is probably better. Normally I prefer to go solo but being paced and having the security of people around can be worth having. Great vlog! And what a view!
Cheers Chris but in all honesty I would have preferred a few less hiking buddies on this one. Cheers
Thanks Karl, that was a really good video, very entertaining and watched it all the way through. Makes me think of doing something beyond videoing my food! The traffic problems I would normally think of, on a bank holiday, would be in cars though! Need a lie down after that lol!
Food gets more views for a lot less effort Keith. I suspect there’s a bit of a masochist within me.cheers
That looked tough Karl (unless you’re Thai lol they made it look easy again 😂) Great video again I won’t be rushing to do that climb though 🙈👍
Cheers Mark. It got tougher the further up you get and the crowds were a bit much tbh
Super busy. Sure the view up there was amazing, if just a little cramped. Definitely would never make it up there, so thanks again for seeing somewhere interesting.
My pleasure Andrew. Yes, the crowds meant it took twice as long and even more sun exposure. It was fun though. Cheers
Did Brian say "We came to play conkers"... 5555

Unusual. Normally you are calling the shots Karl. This time you appeared to take a back seat.
Still just as enjoyable.
It was just a case of everyone following the person in front of them this time Greg. Cheers
what an accomplishment. upper body and lower both required. the story here was the numbers of people that were with you. with a heavy emphasis on being young.
The waiting in the sun because of the crowds made it tougher than it should have been Donald. Cheers
Karl grylls back with another banger

There were a lot of people on that hike. You can almost believe it was the mountain climbing Vasaloppet😂
Everyone was just following the person in front of on this one Anders! In all honesty the crowds were a bit much. Cheers
I still cant believe how busy it was on the day.
It certainly made it all take a bit longer didn’t it Brian? Cheers
Nice work. I can’t imagine how busy and hairy the descent was !
Cheers. You’re right, as usual the descent was even tougher than the ascent. Cheers
@@karlsthailand Love your videos Karl!
@cwinasia Thank you for

It was a bit tough near the top that’s for sure. Unfortunately we had no time for any Leo’s when we got back down as we had to head for home. Cheers
nice hike, but too crowded for my taste
Yes, a bit too crowded for my taste too but we’d made the effort to get there nice and early…Cheers
I'm getting vertigo just watching
There were only a few dodgy bits tbh but the heat and the queues were something else. Cheers
Dang, that looked a bit gruelling.
It was tough but having to wait in the sun because of the queues made it tougher. Cheers
No way I wouldgo out on that view point,I found out the other day that my stability has gone. I climbed on my roof in Oz to fix a leaking tile. My balance is going.. I sucks to get old..
It’s not for everyone Brock. I found out a few weeks ago how unsteady I can be when I’m hungover lol. Have to be at your peak. Cheers
This mountain peak is under control by Air force wing 5. It's jam pack like that because they allow certain fixed date in each month. 🙂
Yes but they have recently changed their policy from having to pre-register to being able to register on the day. I suspect this new policy increased the numbers on the hike. Cheers
@@karlsthailand Ahhh .. Finally, they have changed it. Wish P'Karl healthy and happy krub. 🙏
Thank you
Not a hike for bare feet and Sandels , but spotted a couple pairs
I tell you that rock is sharp. Tbh I’m surprised they let them go up without good footwear but this is Thailand lol. Cheers
Inside that mountain is a secret military bunker built to withstand nuclear attacks
Really? I guess the whole area is owned by the military but I’ve never heard that before. Cheers
Drives me crazy being able to look at the mountain from my patio knowing I’ll never make it up there. But after watching this I’m glad I gave up on the stair section. It’s a great place indeed but yes, you made the right choice to turn back, coming back down was even harder than going up. Cheers
Rock is too sharp.People should put more gear such as gaiter / gloves and helmet.
It is very sharp and the slightest scraped will draw blood. Cheers
