    Thanks for uploading this, I really have a better idea of what I would be getting. I do have a question though, what's the longest you've used this monitor for during a shoot and how much of the battery was still remaining after that?

      Thanks for watching! :)
      It's a bit hard to say because I rarely start from a full 100% battery haha... but when it was full-ish, I used it for an hour or two and it was somewhere around half gone I think. The monitor uses around or under 8W of power and the battery included is 16.3Wh, so that seems about right. Of course you could also get larger batteries for pretty cheap to use for longer periods of time.
      Hope that helps! :)

    Hello from Vietnam, this is a great review video, very detail, clear information. Have you ever used F570 or can you compare T7 with F570 ? I used F570 once and I noticed that it has almost no delay, T7 is one of the lastest model that Feelworld released and I'm so curious to find out.

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  6 років тому

      Hello! Thank you so much :)
      I haven't tried the F570, but I believe the delay is mostly due to the camera/connection, not so much the monitor in this case. I can't say for certain without trying both, but I suspect you wouldn't see much of a difference, if any :)

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 років тому

      Hi! Thanks for watching :) ...they do have so many, don't they? haha... I believe the difference between the F7 and MA7 comes down to the coating on the screen, processor inside (maybe slightly, but hardly noticeable faster response/less lag- but I haven't been able to directly test this yet) and maybe what's included in the kit. As for the T7, it might be just the materials it's made from (less plastic) but I'm not 100% positive. Hope that helps even if it may not be 100% complete haha

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 років тому

      Certain cameras like the GH4 for example can be tricky when playing back footage through the HDMI... it might be something simple you didn't realize the first couple times, like pressing up on the dial after entering playback mode, but it will depend on the camera. I don't think it's a problem of the monitor but hard to say what's causing it exactly without seeing it firsthand.

    Hi Scott, have you used this with headphones in plugged in the audio? I just got one and use it with a Sony a7iii. The first one I bought the audio didn't seem to work properly when I plugged headphones in the monitor. The second one that was replaced, has audio but feels like it is heavily filtered and cannot hear much out of it. I plugged the headphones on my a7iii and it works fine. I use the rode mic Pro plus. Feel like this defeats the whole purpose of having audio out? Thought I might ask to see if you've come across this too?

      Hi! I did try it out but haven't used the headphone jack a whole lot. Honestly I can't remember accurately but I wouldn't be surprised if it's not the best quality. I know you can adjust the volume level (which seems like a simple thing some people often accidentally overlook) but would that help at all?

    Hello. I’m a new Feelworld T7 user and have come across a couple of problems I hope you can assist with.
    1. I get delayed audio when the T7 is plugged in via HDMI. This occurs whether I monitor audio from the gh5, or the Feelworld monitor itself. Once I disconnect the monitor, all works appropriately. What am I missing here?
    2. When I enter playback mode on my gh5, the T7 shows the appropriate screen, but I have no way of pressing play to view data as the Gh5 screen goes black. Is there a way to view saved data from the camera on the T7? Thanks!

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  3 роки тому +1

      Hi! I'm not 100% sure of the problems... but the audio issue could possibly just be an issue with the GH5? I never noticed it myself but it was a couple years ago and I didn't usually monitor audio in those cases. Have you tried it with other monitors? As for the playback mode- I remember some trick like pressing up or right on the dial after entering playback mode. Can't remember exactly but I think it was something like that! Hope it helps

  • @michaelcheser
    @michaelcheser 5 років тому +1

    The disappointing thing about this, at least with an a7sii is that when switching to film in 1080 it swaps to mirror the camera LCD and the image is not as clear or as large. The other thing is that the audio is always projected through the speaker and you have to plug in headphones to avoid audio playback while using it and to top that when using headphones the audio quality is garbage compared to the cameras internal audio output. $170 was cheap so you get what you pay for but I would not totally recommend this, I am considering returning it and going with the new Atomos Shanobi and losing 2 inches of screen space. $500 is a fair price especially coming from such a high-quality monitor company like Atomos.

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 років тому

      I believe you can adjust the output settings of the a7sii on the camera itself, and it's not really related to the monitor itself, but I've never used it with a Sony so I'm not sure to be honest. As for the audio, you can use the arrow buttons (when the menu is not open) to turn the volume all the way down, you shouldn't have to plug headphones in. I'm not surprised if the audio quality is sub par though, I think it was just meant as rough monitoring of audio for those people who don't have a headphone jack on their camera.
      No doubt the Atomos is a great monitor, but there are other good choices as well if you're willing to spend $500 :)

    • @michaelcheser
      @michaelcheser 5 років тому +1

      Scott Dumas I did not realize you could adjust the volume I’ll have to try that. As for output settings I’m gonna have to play around. I really hope you can because the picture quality is pretty solid and I don’t need anything spectacular on this I just wanted a larger monitor so it’s easier to see. The recorders and high dollar monitors are better with the fs7 and fs5 to get the pro res raw

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  4 роки тому

      It's more or less average ...around 2-4 frames or so of delay is what I've seen on most monitors but it does depend a little on the camera and options you have selected in the camera (sometimes outputting a downscaled image can cause more delay, or outputting focus guides from the camera for example) . Generally it's an issue of HDMI though, even the fastest near 0 latency wireless video system I've used for example, has around 1-2 frames of latency from the camera itself.

      Hi! That does seem strange. As far as I know anything from the output of the 5D4/80D should be compatible with the T7 and there's only one input so it's not an issues of having the wrong input selected... I'd recommend trying a different cable, double checking the output settings of the camera and if that doesn't work maybe something is faulty. Is the screen coming on with the bluescreen on the T7?

    Hi, How did you get your screen to go "full screen" @ 2:35. Mines seems like it cropped on the sides and I'm about to take it back this week if I can't get it fixed. My focus peaking isn't that great as well, all I see is a tiny dot. Do I need to update firmware? Brand new.

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  6 років тому

      Hi! I'm not sure what you mean about the full screen part, I double checked the video and nothing seems to change with the crop around 2:35 ...focus peaking can definitely be tricky though, even in the background things could get highlighted like noise in certain situations since it's basically highlighting the most contrasty areas, not always super reliable and that's not necessarily just a fault of the monitor ...if you only see a single tiny dot though that is indeed strange.

    • @malcomwilliams8750
      @malcomwilliams8750 6 років тому

      Thanks for replying! I probably phrased it wrong but when you plug yours in it looks like a full screen with the cropped black bars at the top and bottom. Like how it looks at 1:11. When I plug mine into my Dslr it seems like it stuck a a 4:3. I toggled through the aspect ratios but still couldn't achieve a 16:9 or fill up my whole screen. I'll continue to test it out though! thanks!

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 років тому

      Ahh ok, gotcha... I didn't do anything special to get that, so I'm wondering if it might be a setting on the camera? Perhaps some limitation or setting of the HDMI out? What camera are you using?

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 років тому

      Ah yeah I'm not positive but with a little checking into it, it does seem there's some issues with the output crop on the 7D (and some other canons), so it's a limitation of the camera I believe, not the monitor. I did find this quote which seems to relate to the issue you're having:
      "the 7D "is limited to 1620x1080 (3:2) while the camera is not recording. This requires the user to crop the footage from the external recorder to 1620x910 (16:9) and then resize it to either 1280x720 (79%) or 1920x1080 (119%).""

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 років тому

      Hmm, I haven't seen that personally. If the screen is on though it sounds like it might be an issue with a setting on the camera side. There might be something you need to change in the menu to output video over HDMI. Maybe check through that and see if it helps.

      Scott Dumas Hi there. Thank you for the speedy reply. I have since looked further into it and it’s a design flaw with my G7 so sadly I will be selling it and looking for a better camera that can display footage via a monitor in record mode. 😪
      How bad would you say the lag is with this monitor? Mine seems pretty dang awful. Is this an issue with this particular brand/model from what you may know or is this just something to be expected? Thanks again.

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 років тому +1

      Ah, sorry to hear that.
      For a good price, the GH4 is still a very solid camera and you can use all the same lenses as now. Might be worth looking into a used one even to save more money.
      I don't have the T7 specifically anymore, but the lag wasn't too too bad... probably around the same as other similar models on the market. I'm testing their FW279S now and I measured about .2s lag. If you want to check yours, the way I did it was to put my iphone's stopwatch app in front of the camera, then take a picture of it so I can see the difference in the time between the phone and the monitor on the camera. They claim some of the "master" series monitors (possibly all?) have about 1/2 that, so 0.1s. I measured the native monitor on my Canon C200 and that was around 0.05s if that gives a point of reverence.
      I've heard that it may depend on the camera as well, and maybe other details like what signal the camera can output. If the camera can only output 1080p over HDMI, and you're recording in 4K, that means the camera has to downscale it in camera before sending it over the HDMI and that could account for some of the delay (I think). Some cameras may do that faster than others and there may be some difference in monitors as well. The T7 for example can take a 4K signal (if the camera will output it) but the display is 1080p, so the monitor will downscale it instead of your camera. In that case, certain monitors may be faster than others (again.. I think).
      There are lots of variables to say the least. The T7 didn't stand out to me as overly unusual though compared to other monitors that I've used (cheaper and more expensive ones).
      Hope all that helps but please feel free to ask anything else if you'd like!

Never used the Viltrox myself, but I expect it would be very very similar to the others in the same price range- usually the operating system/menu system and built in assist features are what make the biggest differences.

    • @ScottDumas

      The A7R2 has a Micro Type-D connector for the HDMI port so you'd need an HDMI with that on one end.
      Powering in this case I think was only through a battery (Sony NP-F style should be the plate you have on there) but I don't think there is a DC out on this monitor to power your camera through the same battery as the monitor, so you'd need to power them separately (or if you have a larger v-mount setup you could use a D-Tap cable for both your camera and the monitor since it does have the option for DC power-IN). I don't have the T7 anymore to check for sure, sorry.
