Another fantastic video, Rob. My hands have become SO much better than they used to because your single-stroke accented 16th notes video, I can only imagine what this method of practice is going to do for my play. Keep yup the good work man
Good evening Mr. Brown. I would like to thank you very much for your drum lessons. I am a 60 year old newbie and I take your beginner lessons very seriously. I am retired so there is alot of time spent doing pad work, syncopation, independence suck exercise, 10 beginners beats, left foot syncopation, funking up the high hats, solo 1,2,3 and 4. I'm now on 2. Triple 1/8. Etc, etc. Owe and yes, I get down to playing along with songs. My favorite is Brick ain't gonna hurt nobody. So I spend my time wisely looking and studying your videos. You are a great teacher and I appreciate your service. Faye from Philly.
just hit my 1 month mark of doing this exercise on & off, & it really worked wonders for my ghost notes! just worked up to 71bpm yesterday from being unable to play this exercise at 40 at the start! i found that practicing at drastically different dynamics, especially reeeally quiet, keeps the exercise fresh! the control buff is really quite insane. thank you mr flamuel :>
Man your videos have been inspirational to practice on a pad. I kind of neglected practicing on the pad but since I’ve been doing it I’ve noticed a massive change in my playing
Cool exercise Rob! Flam exercises are cool - I also find they help developing more nimble hands, and I think they help develop better micro time as you get your ear train to recognise unintentional flams. Thanks for the exercise!
Rob always says the single stroke, double stroke, and single paradiddle are the only three rudiments at you HAVE to know. Which is dead on, but I would add flams to that as well.
🥁 Hey there Rob Beatdown brown! bro you are da man for me to learn or upskill my druming! theres so much out there and its all good but i just love your style of teaching, CooL, calm, collective and to the point! iv learnt so much from you in only a couple of months & my druming has progressed in tha t little time! ✌️so keep up the great groovey work & im always lookin foward to ya next Vid!... i live in NZ !! & will definately bye 1 of your coolest Tshirts! ... thanks so much for your sharing of knowledge! 🤙
Been saving this one up on my music computer next to e-drums for last couple weeks now. Found that I literally have to move the bpm to 50-55 to feel clean & get cumfier with it,(for whole exercise), but really enjoying the ongoing process overall...Thanks!
Brother, I didn't even realize the flams do that. I created my own flam exercise to learn different flam rudiments at once (flam, flam tap, flam accent, flamadiddle/flamadiddle-diddle, pataflala, swiss army triplet, flamacue) to get the hang of things. Out of nowhere I was moving quicker on the snare and drum pad. Took 3-4 months but the benefits were LUSH. I call it The Flam Family Exercise. Super interesting. I'm doing your more simple one. Thanks. I'll report back in 4 weeks. To drumming. :)
At first, I understand quickly what the concept was. Then I was surprised how deep the concept was. I'm a DCI vet. So I can truly appreciate how great a teacher Rob is. I learned something new and I learned a new way to teach others. Right on! Thanks, Rob! And happy belated birthday! You're a great teacher! And also as a Marine Corps vet, I think you have excellent leadership traits for many young drummers to exemplify. Flam on!
There's been several times when I've had some issue with my drumming and like magic our man Flamuel seems to pop up with just what I needed. I was just thinking that I always felt like I've neglected flams a bit. Will definitely give this one a shot and I have a feeling it's going to end up in the rotation.
Brilliant lesson 👌makes you really listen and focus on what you're doing both with accents&ghost notes very deceptive in that you need more control of what's going on here... Perfect Flamuel 🥁🙏☠️
I realize it’s been a while since you’ve asked which metronome app Rob is using and you may have found it by now. But in the event you haven’t, this metronome app is called “Click”.
Flamuel L. Jackson! I'm dying over here!
😂😂😂👊
blud living up to his name💀😭

Killer exercise, sir! "Yes, they deserve to drum and I hope they do it well!!!!" - Flamuel L. Jackson
"Certified but unlicensed instructor Flamuel L. Jackson"
Oh man, that's a great line
On the fourth exercise on the fourth beat do a paradiddle and then start over beginning with your left hand and vica versa...
Simple but yet so genius! Thanks Flamuel.

Love this exercise, gonna give it a go! As usual thanks Rob !
I applied this to DOUBLE BASS........my left foot really improved a lot after a few minutes
Great exercise. Opens up endless possibilities when you apply this to triplets, all versions of paradiddles, and who knows what else! Thx!!
I play a lot of flams. Love this exercise!

Great lesson! Thank you, Rob…😎
This is a great excercise. Time to practice. Thanks man :D
Awesome Brother, I would suggest alternating the Lead hand every cycle for more 'feel'.
And what if I told you your flamtastic and bombastic? Cheers to the best teacher on the tube!
Lovin' the tempo / time keeper video in the background.

Cool. I'll be starting this on Monday once this week's gigs are done. Can I ask the name of the metronome app you are using?
Brilliant lesson 👌makes you really listen and focus on what you're doing both with accents&ghost notes very deceptive in that you need more control of what's going on here... Perfect Flamuel 🥁🙏☠️

What is that metronome app? I saw Mike Johnston use the same one I think and it would very helpful compared the one I have.
