    So a woman carrying, nurturing a baby for 9 months in her stomsch, feeding it. Having it take frim her bones and her body. Having her body weakened and nearly near death during child birth. Only to have someone, another woman on top of that, taking the mothers baby out of this world... how truly evil, how DISGUSTING. Theres a place for those who commit such crimes.

    Letby was a fantasist who created a hospital drama with her as the lead character and a romance with a doctor she became obsessed with. A modern day Jekyll and Hyde with newborn babies as props in her depraved soap opera. My heart goes out to the families of these baby angels.

    • @kb4432
      @kb4432 Рік тому +1

      Her case is similar to Beverley allitt. They murdered to get in the good books of people by being nice to their parents in order to get a promotional advantage in the hospital. Then the thrill of murder kicks in and leads to more. The fact that she was evasive by using different methods of murder and manipulated the system and even her parents to cover up. She was very cunning and calculated. No doubt she would have killed hundreds more.

      It seems that she might have been addicted to causing unimaginable grief as well, maybe as an extension of what you said. She usually killed on dates that would be highly relevant and emotional to the parents. She involved herself heavily in "comforting" them to the point where she had to be told to leave them alone. She had to "be there" when the news was broken to them. She offered to take a photo of a mother with the body of the son she killed. She obsessively looked up the parents on social media particularly when coming to an important day for them or an anniversary.
      A thrill, an addiction, an enjoyment, or simply a desire to be around it, we can call it whatever we want but yes, I think she was also a fantasist who created this entire soap opera for herself also.
      This hits people harder not only because her victims were babies but because it bucks our view of what a serial killer is. We think of a serial killer as a strange loner who we'll be able to easily spot, someone estranged from society, a horrible childhood etc. Not a nurse with a normal childhood who had lots of friends who did normal things like go on holiday, go to salsa classes, loved her cats, went on hen nights.
      This is what is scary.

    • @Victoria-kl7su
      @Victoria-kl7su Рік тому +6

      Omg, I didn’t know about the emotive dates & her comforting the parents of those babies etc - that is a whole other level. It’s like murderers who join the hunt for those they know they have already murdered - people like Ian Huntley. Is it because they think that if they are hiding in extreme plain sight they would never be suspected or that they get a kick out of being so close to the ‘action’ - it is beyond comprehension and how would she ever think she’d get away with it - obviously, they would keep records of staff shifts etc and at some point start joining the dots (albeit far too late in this case)- it is an absolutely evil and shocking case, feels even more shocking as she looks so pleasant -we all know that you can’t exactly spot a ‘typical’ killer but this hardly makes any sense at all - she must be completely devoid of any empathy at all and it is crazy to think she got to be a nurse, and into a position to do this - I wonder what her background was like? ‘normal’ I expect

      There's a clear definition of what mental illness is - in criminal cases it's something like schizophrenia, which she clearly didn't have. It's no good saying it's just "evil" either - that's a quasi religious means of distancing ourselves from these things. As the criminal psychologist Kerry Daynes said, these crimes do not happen in a vacuum. They happen for a range of reasons. Dismissing them just as "evil" gives us an excuse not to think about just how mundane these people can be - it's too close to the bone for us to think about. It also gives us an excuse not to look at how we can look at preventing these things in future.

She enjoyed the perverse nature that she could hide behind a seemingly caring professional mask but knowing it covered her evil wrong doings. She thought she could fool everyone ( ego driven) but all serial killers have an Achilles heel , which is ,they do the heinous crimes too many times & in a regular pattern for it to be coincidental .

Secretly stealing the life of an innocent pumps up their low self image, making them feel as if they have power over others. Little has been said about her upbringing. On the face of it, Lucy came from a stable home, but was it? Did she have a happy childhood or did she feel she couldn't live up to her parents expectations? ? Did she mix readily with other children or was she a loner? Did she make strong friendships? As an only child, was she spoilt, given too much attention or expected to be perfect?
    It is strange that, seemingly, she showed no early signs of any bad traits in her character. Are some people born with evil tendencies or are there other factors that influence them to become warped in their choices?
    Will we ever find out why Lucy chose to do what she did?

    Prime example that you can’t judge a book by its cover. Looking at those photos you’d never dream she could deliberately hurt & murder babies. There are so many people today whose motivations are absolutely incomprehensible. This isn’t even someone deluded into thinking she was “helping” them. Just someone who got a thrill from murder & getting away with it, but yet obviously knew what she was doing was wrong.

      Correct. Not an 'angel' of death scenario at all where someone thinks they're 'helping' a terminal patient by euthanizing them which is, at least, a 'motive' we can understand. And not a known psychological syndrome like Munchausen by Proxy (where murder is not the objective.) Who becomes a natal nurse who apparently hates babies?! Who hates babies?! It's interesting to look at her relationship with her parents. Several texts she sent to friends were used as evidence at the trial and have been widely reported. They say that she was sufficated by her parents - they seem to have had very anxious attachment with her. Psychologists call it "narcissistic parentification" and "enmeshment" - the parents essentially use the child as an object for their own emotional dysfunction and ideals. Certainly, it's not a reason for murder, but it does seem to have left her deeply narcissistic and developmentally stunted. The Disney toys in her room are perhaps a hint to how she viewed herself - a childlike Disney princess who had always been her parents' perfect little girl.

    By not having Lucy Letby present at the sentencing hearing, we are possibly losing a unique opportunity to hear from Lucy Letby herself. Immediately before sentencing, the convicted person is allowed to make a statement. In the intense emotional atmosphere of the court room with the victim's families present and having heard their impact statements, some serial killers have for the first time spoken of remorse for their acts and have even given insight into the motivation behind their evil deeds. Serial killer, Jeffrey Dahmer pled "Not Guilty " to killing 16 persons at trial but later at sentencing apologizied saying: ".....I feel so bad for what I did to those poor families and I understand their rightful hate....". . Lucy Letby might have made a similar short statement. It would have meant much to the victims' families.

    Dear doctor you are gorgeous but you are being far too kind towards this calculating, unrepentant mass murderer, who killed for a reason she will never divulge. The murderer targeted twins, it would seem (unless it is just that there are a lot of twins in a neonatal, premature birth ward). Additionally, the twins that were murdered tended to be boys, I think. Lucy Letby had a difficult birth and entered nursing ostensibly to express her gratitude and admiration towards the nurses that saved her. Did she have a twin brother that died, that made her feel guilty, that eventually made her want to lash out?
    In the daily Mail it says she had Thyroid Deficiency and that "Untreated it can also impair fertility and lead to problems in pregnancy." I wonder if she has been told that she was infertile. Lucy Letby is not a narcissist but she could conceivably be a very vengeful infertile woman.

    How could she do this? Well, first of all, she’s a psychopath. She doesn’t experience empathy the way neurotypical people do and she has a huge ego that needs constant validation, and a shallow mind that needs constant stimulation (called “sensation seeking”.) There is evidence to suggest she wanted more than her position. She felt she was better than her role, that her job was boring and monotonous and she wasn’t getting any special attention or accolades. A code situation is exciting, chaotic, challenging, and a nurse who responds first and responds well gets attention and validation from other nurses and the doctors. She attacked that first child for the rush and the drama and the pats on the back for a job well done. I think she wasn’t expecting to also enjoy the power, but I think she did.
    I think she started for the excitement (an extreme example of sensation seeking) and the validation, perhaps to make herself look good. But why did she continue when she knew for a fact eyes were on her? That she was already suspected by members of the staff? I think attacking those first babies awakened something she wasn’t expecting: A deep seated hunger for power and control, and sadistic pleasure. Plainly, she enjoyed how it felt and she enjoyed the baby’s pain and their family’s pain. She secretly delighted in their suffering, watching the baby and doing nothing as their O2 saturation dwindled, offering to take pictures of the parents holding their deceased baby, watching them bathe the body, Facebook stalking them long after, returning like a vampire to feed on their heartbreak and loss.
    Of course, she also continued because by then she was feeling untouchable. The doctors who raised concerns over and over had been told to stop, that they’re was no “smoking gun”, no need to jeopardize a good nurse’s reputation, and forced to apologize to her!
    As absolutely heartbreaking as this is, it is fascinating on a psychological level, if you can remove yourself momentarily from the fact that this demonic woman ended the lives of so many precious, vulnerable infants.
    It’s truly horrific. She’s a monster and has no business living in free society.
