That was a lot more interesting than expected. I think you've produced exactly what was required for learning. The bass on record seems there just for the double bass thud... Played on electric muting - foam etc. is probably a good idea.
Nice. I wonder why most bass players feel the need to always play doted 1/4 followed by an 8th note ( like Horace Silver Song for my Father or Stealy Dan Ricky Don’t Lose That Number) Half notes work great too on bossa nova.
No problem! I'm using Sibelius 7.5 for the notation and tabs. Once I'm done, Sibelius can export score to video, and then I sync it up with my playing/create the rest of the video in Final Cut Pro.
@@BennyTheBassman Thank you. I didn't know Siblius could export directly to video. I was looking at GoPlayAlong 4 to do syncing, but so far in the trial version auto sync hasn't worked out so well.
Beginner Bass player: Thanks. This is a great song (bossa nova) for beginners to learn…beautiful bass line.

The notes on this song are sorcery
no they are roots fifths and thirds its all super simple to improvise a bassline to if you can just find the root note
What?? It’s root and fifths! Doesn’t get more simple than that. What basslines have you been playing?

Benny B, I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, but what notation software are you using to make this video? Thank you!
No problem! I'm using Sibelius 7.5 for the notation and tabs. Once I'm done, Sibelius can export score to video, and then I sync it up with my playing/create the rest of the video in Final Cut Pro.

Thanks for your reply, EY. Since I posted my question, I purchased and have become quite good at GoPlayAlong sync feature. I love it.
thanks
Welcome!
Here's the legendary musician Bob Strauch's version with his own lyrics: ua-cam.com/video/IDxLedytMm0/v-deo.html
what key is this in?
D flat, I think
This version is in D flat. Adam Neely has made an interesting video on this called "The Girl From Ipanema is a far weirder song than you thought".
