Ooh the sound of these switches scratch my brain in the perfect way! Love how different they sound to other modern switches on the market! Love this breakdown, thanks BT
Glad I could help greenman!
Could we possibly get a sound test on a no foam build? I'd like to hear these switches in their raw state. Also, great review as always, I love watching your content!
hey jules ill have one coming up very shortly.
@@BTaesthetics Thanks!
Great video bro! A-Roll lighting is ON POINT!
Some sunset beaming into the studio vibes 🌄
Your point about being happy about the options we have now is spot one 🙌🏾
Loving the presentation on these videos. I do struggle with the sound tests though because you're using the Rama M65. For whatever reason, that case in particular dominates the sound profile, so all switches end up sounding similar. It's probably the mute mount. I think a Tofu or some entry level board might actually be better for the typing tests.
Woah! Did not expect the lube to do such a huge difference in the sound tbh. Sounds so smooth.
Crazy different! Completely changes the switch thanks for watching Ciminc
that's a life lesson right there, my friend ... lube always makes a difference. ;)
overlubed
Bro this video is a masterpiece. Feelin the whole vibe here- the lighting, acoustics, atmosphere, and the review. Love your content man.
Hope you have a Happy New Year 🎉
That OG switch price 🤣
Lmao
i was honestly considering putting jwk opblack tops on hyperglide blacks to make copium nixies. phew now i dont have to
Expecting these to be on par with modern linears, especially after the first few batches, is the true copium
@@jiehua5340 uh ?
If the Hyperglide Black is smoother then I don't know what to say... I have the Hyperglide Black and it's one of the scratchiest switches I've come across. Even when lubed it's no match to many modern linear switches in the last 2 years. Cherry needs to step up their game, really.
The thing is Cherry makes a shit ton more switches than any of the other companies, so their molds wear out way faster & they need to get more mileage out of them than the competitors. So what ends up happening is this cycle of Cherry switches being just as good if not better than the boutique switches when their molds are fresh, which quickly tapers off to scratchy & wobbly switches that leave people wondering what all the hype was about. I've seen it happen twice so far since I've been in the hobby. The first with the original retool of MX black molds, now with the hyperglides (which was just another retooling they decided to name cause of the fanfare from the last retooling). The best rule of thumb I've come by to get the best version of whatever switch you want is to get them as early as possible. The earlier in the mold's lifetime the switches were made the better smoothness & tolerances they will have.
Many prefer the chalky feeling and character it adds to the switch. Not disagreeing, but if you know you prefer a smoother switch, there are plenty of options (most are smooth these days)
Cherry MX is the OG. All other switches technically are replicas. I’ve tried many switches I always return back to cherry.
@@NordenzurZukunft It's not even a chalky feeling like with Kailh Cream or Oooolong for example. Some scratchy switches are satisfying, I agree. Cherry's scratchiness feels like an irritating hard plastic, it's awful in comparison.
People buy cherry mostly for their signature sound ig
I'll definitely be grabbing these for sure.
Not on topic but can we get a desk video? It looks beautiful and I want to see more of your setup!
YAAAAAS! Congrats on the 200k man!!!!
Wake up babe, new BT video just dropped
Great edit man! What are your thoughts on these vs the Gateron Oil Kings?
For $11 a switch, they better vacuum my floors, clean my toilets, and brush my teeth.
Unlubed: old underwood sound. Lubed: eargasm
Super clean sound of the spacebar with these lubed nixies. noice
Great content! Switch question, what would you say are the quietest switches you can get on a prebuilt? I lean towards linear as far as actuation goes.
Strange that yours came out thocky.
They have the classic MX Black scratchy clack to me but just a touch deeper.
Maybe you lubed them a lot heavier then me
I got a batch and they are scratchy as all hell 😂 Never had switches this scratchy before.
Luckily I just received a DingKey break in machine and they respond super well to breaking in. (Non lubed variant)
I hate the spring weight though so I’m changing them to TX 62g long
i try many switches, but i only keep Cherry HG Black full mods for everyday use, i think i will take 1 set Nixie and 1 set Brown to use in new keyboard :))
Call me weird but that unlubed nixies sounds good
Sounds great! What was the full build?
M65-B PVD Brass plate
Durock stabs
Modo light PBT
@@BTaesthetics awesome! Keep up the great work man
This is my end game!!! Thanks for great video
lot better lubed.. any think the Haimu Heartbeats are bad switches? i'm looking for the best silent ones.. nixies lubed seem to be quite nice..
do you plan to do a review on the new hsk pro ace/pro 4k in the future :0?
Man, at that price they could've at least released the version with the white stem. Back then you needed 90 Nixdorf boards to complete a TKL.
Nixies and Matrix 6xv 3.0 Corsa preorder on the same day. My wallet is crying 🥴
your wallet may be crying now but matrix + cherry is worth it. plus, you can always sell it for more
I genuinely feel like the biggest idiot alive, i found this old keyboard at my workplace they threw out, i got the caps, but was too lazy too desolder the switches and thought they weren't worth the effort anyways so threw the rest out...
Hyperglides are smoother than a baby's butt?? My 650k ultraglides arent even as smooth as stock gateron yellows, that's just not even remotely close to true.
excuse me but how smooth are the nixies compared to black ink v2s
they sound smooth lubed and filmed, but the keyboard adds too much of it's character, which I'm afraid is not great for switch sound comparisons :D No offernce to RAMA ofc, outside of this context it's surely a top tier board
the sound reminds me of NK creams actually
Out of curiosity is there any way to beyblade ur switches?
By that I mean can I take two switches apart swap some pieces put them back together and essentially make a fusion of them that's of my own creation
That's called a "Frankenswitch". r/switchmodders is a good subreddit to learn more about that stuff
Yes you can mod these just like any other switch. It’s really up to you
@@redlava1010 ohhhh noooo lmao I'm going into a deep reddit rabbit hole on this one
@@papasalvo just checking in, how broke are you now? Have you made any?
Yoooo. A switch for new build ?
What are those white keycaps shown in the b-rolls?
One quick question:
As you've tried n tested so many gaming peripherals still do you have some bad aim days or bad aim weeks in valorant type of games?
Or you just swap mouse and good to go
In my case I did'nt switch the sensi since 1.5 years
still from past week whiffing too much
and got tilted followed by uninstallation
haha i think we all have our off days. sleep, mental state all play a factor. usually it doesn't last longer than a day or 2 for me. If you find your aim is off try shooting range/aim trainers before you hop into a game. Usually bad aim is due to getting complacent/going on autopilot. Working on fundamentals will get you back in the mode of hitting your shot and being aware of what you're doing. Hope this helps!
@@BTaesthetics In my case, aim trainer doesn't help much
Only what affects is mental state like can't even hit HS from back and eventually several bad ganes in a row.
I recently switched from Logitech to Razer
G203 to Viper mini
Maybe It's due to shape difference or I'm just overthinking.
🫣
By the way great videos man (informative & aesthetically pleasing)
Watching since years but never commented.
Thanks for replying
To be sure, these are the cherry mx black with clear-tops that are currently in pre-order right ?
Yep those are it
Why are the W and D stems COVERD with lube?
i found the keeb ten harvested it
Sorry Brandon, when you mentioned Nixies coming back I had to place my order before watching. The build sounded great but c'mon man you know mx blacks sound best with an aluminum plate ;)
This ^
I don't know, these switches aren't doing it for me. The sound isn't there.
They might sound better with anything but a brass plate lol
M65-B isnt really doing it justice imo. maybe a diff board the sound might be better? cause hg blacks on a diff board with an alu plate is godtier but here its kinda meh
@@Zara-ub7hc Could be. I'll have to look for a sound test with an alu plate. I know these are popular for a reason.
@@ghost-type ua-cam.com/video/pJy2hpm1KAc/v-deo.html
@@Zara-ub7hc Thanks for this. Wow, they sound so much nicer here.
These for sure need lubing!
For some reason I actually prefer these unlubed.
Makes me wonder how these compare to OPBlacks...
What keycaps is he using in the typing test?
got these in m tofu 60
I thought the most sought after switches currently are the lekker switches on a wooting board 👀
I'm guessing it wouldn't because of something to do with copyright issues but if they're so scarce, wouldn't it be possible for another company to produce a switch with the same specs?
yes, but the composition of the platic cherry uses and the tooling they use drastically change the switches sound and feel. even if it had the same plastic composition just a different mold would make it sound and feel different and vice versa with same mold different plastic. and no one but cherry knows the exact formula to their own plastic i believe
That’s what OP blacks are. Intended to be a copy of Nixies, but the exact plastic compound isn’t public
@@brando_100 and OP blacks sound nothing like Nixied. Not even close. Nothing really ever could sound like them
@@maynardewm I’m sure something could….
Uh… might wanna double check that math
naw thats just a gateron blacks w/ milky top and ks3 bottom (im kidding domt attack ms)
Keycaps? :)
What keyboard?
People buying these switches for that much are not ok in the head and so are the people selling them for that much.
You can always swap the tops and put them on vintage blacks
Novelkeys being Novelkings again
Cherry, unable to make a decent tactile...
Are they long poles?
nope
Unlubed sounded so gross, but lubed up 🤤
EHHHHHHH im a boba u4t guy
I’ve thrown down a lot on keyboards, but 16$ switches is absolutely ridiculous - is it really worth it?
These new ones are 60 cents so I’d say yes :)
Who's the EU vendor? Made in Germany but no EU vendor on the list
Candykeys
The most sought after that no one ever heard. What are even those switchs? No switch is as sought after as holy pandas, vintage blacks and mint alps blues and not even out of the box alps blues are this price.
bruh this has to be a bait
eh gateron in black v2 sounds better
Black inks are goated
only ship to us and canada shit.
People paid $11 per switch for something that sounds and feels significantly worse than black inks? This hobby is tragic sometimes 😂😂😂
Jesus, 1 mil per switch? Is Bill Gates a keyboard nerd?
A switch for the rich.. haha
IM EARLY
Early early!
HA
First…
Got em
Much love BT but nah, these absolutely do not provide any "thocc" whatsoever and sound super sub-par :/
sounds overlubed as hell... also id suggest another board for sound tests and not rama boards that have awful acoustics
Nah
