I tensioned and released quite a few times while watching this tutorial
Might as well stab me with a knife because you slayed me with this comment
@@RisetotheBottom00 Might as well crack a bone because u broke me with this reply
@@theswamps6589 Might as well laugh cause that was hilarious
ayo?
that sounded weird... But well... At your age you gotta enjoy when the tension appear!
You Suck series are the only ones that are fun to watch even though its tension is built not around plot twists, but all shades of wowsers.
_Fifty Shades_ of Wowsers?
Kill me please.
I would have been sold just by hearing you say “wowzers,” But it turned out to also be super informative.
You bundled up a lot of what Adam Neely and Jacob Collier explained with their overtone series as if it were child's play. I'm frightened from your overwhelming sense of powerful tension.
Where is the series? I can't find it on UA-cam but that might just be because the search function sucks now haha
i aspire to make tutorials as entertaining as you do
What are you doing here
a checkmark, wowzers
Mysticat?!?
Can't wait to see them.
Didn't expect you to be here btw.
I saw the 2d mc vid, I love your banner and pfp design
Dude your channel is so underrated. So lucky to have found this. I really hope you see great success in the near future.
And horrible, horrible tragedy in the mid to long-term future. Just to keep things interesting.
You are doing a great job at teaching the Dingus crowd some music theory. This could help change the world and make so many shitsongs so much better. Please develop the entire Music theory series! Its dope
Good video.
I’ve been using my push in scale almost exclusively and I think this is why I often do not get tension on my music anymore. I know nothing about music theory, so to me these are super helpful. I used that a lot intuitively before I had the push.
nice and simple explanation
3:12 🤣🤣 ain't this the most comedic learning experience yet
Ok, so check it
saw this comment as soon as he said it lmao
@@tracykay1528 Maybe and just maybe he said it as soon as you saw that comment. Wowsers.
I love to watch these even if I already know the topic of a lesson. Always inspiring...
Wowzers
I just discovered this channel, wowzers

Brilliant video, fantastic commentary

Avoided this vid cuz i didnt want to be told i suck at producing/theory and 2 min. in I'm really impressed and learning a lot. Keep doing what youre doing 🤘🏽
Art and science explanation..GREAT
Lmao i just spat my morning coffee out when he was like “Ahhh Jesus Christ” at the 7th. Subbed because your knowledgeable and hilarious. Wowzers
I got a question about my midi controller whenever I play a C ableton plays a C# and all of my keys have jumped one place just like the C somebody knows how to fix this? so how to jump everything one place back I really dont know
whenever the theme song piano comes on i fake play the keys with a straight face and pretentious look on my face
Youre a masterpice! I say hello from Spain, I will wait you came here with you uncle!
Thanks for share this with us
Given perfect continuity of tone values - cosmic glissando. You pick a point with which to begin and, bingo, a Universe of harmonics. Beginning within the human auditory spectrum is a plus if you wish to communicate across infinite potential. Love yer Zen detachment. It's all a bit of a charade, eh.
This is crazy 😂 love it !
But a sine wave has no overtones
I played a saw wave and looked at the frequencies that peaked, now I'm sure he used a type of saw wave because when I used a sine wave you were right, there's only a single peak (the fundamental)
It s a saturated sine wave you dingus!
@@wemadeit8693 or a filtered saw...
Came here to say the same thing.
Technically, e v e r y t h I n g is sine waves
There's a lot of tension with Uncle Joe, huh
"And in Uncle Joe's case, gastrointestinal"
and a bunch of release right after, wowsers!
How can i use this when building chords from, lets say, A Minor ? This is very interesting and fascinating, but i'm not sure how to use it with my beats ? I usually make a melody or some chords from a scale (c minor example), which often makes me feel very limited.. Sigh
This is actually incredibly awesome and informative. I've played music for quite some time but never knew these exact details. Thanks UB
this is fucking hilarious. I wish you were in my Music Theory I, and II classes in uni! hahah
The real question is why does this sine wave have harmonics
Best way to build tension, play all notes at once
my god i love these videos!
I am less tense now, after watching this.
1:47 threw me off. My name is Derrick lmfao
lol hard at those wowzers.. subbed!
is this some how also releated to the dgree functions of scales (tonic, dominant, sub dominant)??????????????????????????????????
Thanks for another great video!
Thought this would be the only video I would watch without the monitors, however my laptop can't produce frequencies around 100Hz, gotta move upstairs.
Uncle Underbelly, please don't do this to me again!
I loved the video and I will continue singing your praise.
6:52 🤣 wowzers haha
When he said gastrointestinal I laughed so hard
Same I couldn't stop laughing XD
laughing from the get-go, another beauty
Not maked sense to me , but the end part really got me
Dude you're doing some processor level shit, keep it up
Man this dude knows about tension cause all his facial muscles are tense as fuck
i watch these for motivation
I didn't know you and I liked the video in 15sec..! never happened before..!! hahahaa you're good man thanks for the video
very well made video i luv u
Wowsers... Bootiful
if i ever make it big you will have been a key player in making that happen. Please never consider the possibility of your work being mere entertainment.
What are the notes on 5:56?
Arigato, Underbelly-san, appreciate it!
*takes a bow*
I already know music theory, yet I still felt like a stupid child getting taught something.
Wowzers, what a good video
Are dissonant notes always in key? or do they go out of key. Pls help
Both !
In a major key, starting from the root/fundamental, your most consonant notes paired together (we call this intervals) are the 3rd, 5th and the octave. The rest of the notes ( 2nd, 4th, 6th, 7th) will all have a degree of dissonance in them but they're still in the same key.
Now, for example if you're in C major, the notes in key are C D E F G A B (C) - if you play notes out of key, let's say C and Bb or C and F# you will certainly get stronger dissonance but also more powerful resolution options
Hope it helped fren
@@HSHDaGo when you say more powerful resolution options do you mean resolving back to the root, 5th, 7th etc from a note out of the scale will sound more like more absolute ( more wow etc ) when resolving ? As opposed to using a 2nd, 4th, 6th etc
in the same key ?
Rainy City Music I’m not sure I can explain this well, but a resolution is when you have tension (dissonance) and then you fix that tension into consonant sound.
So with notes that exist in the key, you can create tensions that come naturally - for example in C Maj try playing B F and resolving to C E
(All of these are notes in the key of C).
Then, if you use notes that are not in the key, you can create uglier tensions and the uglier/harsher the dissonance is, the better it feels when you resolve it (that’s what I mean with “more powerful”) - in C Maj play G B F Ab and resolve it to C E G
(I’m which Ab is not in the key of C, but it creates a Spicy minor 9th together with the G)
I miss those funny jokes you made at the beginning of the video in the original "You Suck At Producing" videos. Especially this topic would have had a really good introduction.
This helped more than web pages
4:50 tearing up here
Wowzers!
Best channel
Wowsers
thanks underbelly
Wowsers!!!
Wowsers!
Inspired by the classic “You Suck at Photoshop”
Uncle joe really has some tension while he farts he should get it checked!
Fu underbelly, thanks to you my monitor is covered in food and spit.
such a nice video haha
Nice channel
I like this guy lol.... Not because he's litt on the piano, but because he looks like Dexter.... :)
Needs more jokes in the intro about tension. Like the one about intros and underbelly was like "Hi I'm Underbelly... Lets get started" (because it was a bad intro). I feel like this episode had a lot of potential jokes that were not used.
great ideas! seriously...
You should make the sounds more audible on phone speakers. Love ur style though that deadpan humor is hilarious. Also that song u did with Doja cat is dope
OMG I laugh my ass off every time you say wowsers no matter how many times you say it. Wowsers.
