bro, I have depression just as big as my love for music. watching your videos helps me a lot, is not like listening to the ordinary beatmaker or whatever... thanks for doing this.
Those kind of videos give me so much relief as a beginner producer. No expert flexing on his super clean RGB selfmade studio. No random presumption or expectation of some (for me as a beginner) confusing techniques that "everybody should know". No high-end example beats that are created within a minute that raise the bar to infinity. Just some guy showing the approaches to a neat sound and teaching us the most important thing about the journey of learning this whole music thing: Have fun, don´t take yourself too serious all the time and literally just create stuff that inspires you :) Thanks man.
Wow, what you showed with the arpeggiator was really cool. I agree with what some people are saying here, how come you only have 285k subscribers. This is hands down one of the best channels for music on the internet... See you on Friday. Cheers Skidder.
Yo Underbelly, I wish I could give you a long and warm hug... Dude you don't know how much you help with these FREE videos. Being someone who can't afford musical education, I've been amazed by how much I already know about music when someone explains some musical concept in a simple AND practical way. You the real GOAT man, I learned so much from you that I finally quit making lo-fi hip hop LMAO
I watched your first probably 20-25 episodes about 6 months ago, when I started using Ableton. In last couple of days I was struggling with the melody of my second song and this video just came into my feed. Thank you so much Underbelly, it was very helpful!!!
Holy shit I've always been recording the arpeggios in audio by resampling but your way is much more flexible! Great tip! I've also been sometimes tapping in melodies rhythmically first, the reason being that it's pretty damn hard to play a keyboard well.
What an amazing set of melodies. Sorry, but had to "steal" them haha. I checked your soundcloud, you do not use the stuff from your tutorials. Don't know why. They always sound great. @Melodies: It sounds a "bit" different here. And my drumset is also totally different and I only play it on 101bpm. Still sounds really nice. Nice accident I had - forgot to unlink the Midi track where I used the Arp (the stuff you did at the end with "smallboy" and it played always into the new Midi track where the pure Arp notes are. Interesting combination. I am always amazed what nice stuff can happen by accident with music.
Thank you so much for all your funny and instructive videos ! It's also help me to improve my bad english level lol Also posting just to help you channel, peace ☆
Hey Underbelly, really like your channel. It is really inspiring to me. 1 thing notices me in this video. You have your BPM at 164, while the tempo of this tracks must be half of it. I wonder if you do this with all your tracks and why you do it ?
Yes but it takes some skill to make it sound like 3 separate melodies while playing at the same time. You can do it with a canon style where they all play the same melody only starting at different points.
yes that means you're an idiot. A because production isn't about trends otherwise you'll be upgrading your style every year.. B trap isn't actually music.
dude! I don't know what's wrong with the internet? but this guy's channel is soo underrated..
Its like Rick and Morty, YOU NEED TO HAVE HIGH IQ for this type sense of humor. Oh and yeah, also You need to want to learn something :)
Wowzers
If you stand the test of his internet persona, you'll find the gold.

I wish I had this channel when I was starting out as a kid. Tutorials were still sketchy back then.

No.
He´s adopted
@@jellymayao.o my boy. I've been looking for this channel but didn't know what to type in lmao. Thanks for the unintentional alley oop
that’s why having multiple children in your household is WRONG

Another perfect metaphor for making music, well done!

So Roger pops out first, but Harold is the older one? Underbelly who is really the older one?!?! Don't lie to me
I was looking for some content like that for months... Thank you wawzers from Brazil
"Having multiple melodies in your track is like having multiple children in your house hold. Wrong." 😂😂😂
“Very appropriate for Roger’s intellectual level here.” 2:20

Yes but it takes some skill to make it sound like 3 separate melodies while playing at the same time. You can do it with a canon style where they all play the same melody only starting at different points.
