I absolutely love ponchos - so I can’t wait to see those made up. I would love to see you doing a compare of these. I also like the shirt and blouse patterns that you bought and think these would make great additions to your wardrobe. Hercules is looking cute with his new haircut.
Thanks so much Margaret! I'm definitely going to do the two ponchos - I think they'll be super easy and I'll get some wear out of them, especially when I travel!
I agree with you on cutting the purple top shorter and nipping it in. I think that will really suit you. I also wear my makes that I am uncertain about to get the feel for whether I want to make a change or move on to something else.
Love your new patterns! I'm excited to see your creations! I jotted some of those down, heaven knows I don't need any more patterns! Oh well 🤣 Feeling inspired..
I agree with cutting your shirt shorter and nipping it in. I, recently, had my first experience with PDF Plotting. I was very pleased but find I can’t afford to use them for all my pdf patterns. I chose to have them print off many of the dresses I want to make. Standing and taping for long hurts my back so I will have to do tops at home and pay to have dresses printed. Hercules is adorable, as always.
It is a bummer that they've had to raise their prices. I just don't have the time to tape patterns together so I use them for almost everything. Hercules is a mess LOL
You got some great patterns Michelle . I really like the Fibre mood Ails & the new one with the gathered yoke , can’t remember the name . I think I’ll be getting those two. This year I’m on a mission to give bra making another go. I hope you have success with it
Wow! Nice pattern options you selected! I think that one you spoke of with the ruffles is a really super cute top, and it would look good in some of the “Sand Washed Rayon”! (From Ewe Fibers). I made a top from this in Blue a couple of years ago and found the fabric was very easy to work with and has that great drape of Rayon Challis. Good luck with your projects and thanks for sharing! ❤
Wonder who you’re doing the Laura Ashley collab with? 🤔😂 Great pattern picks! So excited you’re making the McCall’s poncho! 👯♀️ Way to go on 30 pounds! 💪🏻 Herc looks so handsome with his new ‘do! 💜
Hi Michelle! I think you’ll love the McCall’s poncho! I think a comparison would be great. I also picked up McCalls 8358 and I was surprised that it’s considered vintage. I LOVE the Harper top!!! I love the yoke detail! I’m trying to be good and not purchase all the patterns I see this year but I’m getting that one…. as soon as I click off 😂😂😂. Thanks for sharing. I love looking and hearing about patterns I don’t have. Looking forward to seeing your makes!! ❤
Bra making - I feel the same way you do. It was never on my radar but I ended up making a few, one with the Kwik Sew bra pattern from probably the 90s that I found uncut at a thrift store, can you believe that, and the other was with the Orange bra pattern. It's not really my thing but I got two bras out of it. Never felt the need to make anymore but im not hard to fit in RTW. Another option is to have a bra custom made for you by an experienced sewist in bramaking. Im looking forward to hearing about your bramaking though, youre an amazing sewist and you could end up with something comfortable and well fitted.👍 There's an FB bramaking group that was really helpful when I made mine several years ago if you're on FB.They cover supplies, techniques - everything. I love your purple and white shirt. Seamwork has some great patterns. I've made "too many to count" Oliver sweaters by SW, my friends love that pattern but I've only made one for myself. Is the Heather blazer woven? Because that blazer-skirt set situation is definitely my thing. I also love that princess seam coat. I love that youre into wovens. Getting many ideas from you for 2024 garments for when my one dress challenge ends! 😄
Florence: I made this several times when it first came out. I actually recently put a couple new ones back on the to make list. I started by making a couple of them for my a/b cup daughter. Then, moved on to me after practice. I was never able to make it work to create a supportive well fitting bra. However, I discovered that the mockups, some of which were made out of cut up old tee shirts were terrific to wear around the house, out in the garden, for summer on top. More comfortable than compression sport bras...kind of keeps the girls corralled. I now make this pattern with good knits, bra like construction but not necessarily with bra materials. I also used Florence to try out different seaming that might work better for me. I have tried other patterns with uneven success. (I have some supportive, very comfortable bras that work for me and my current lifestyle....from Wal-Mart of all places! So, no urgency for something better...which I actually want) I want to try Orange Lingerie patterns some time in the future but meanwhile the Florence is a great entry level working with bra constructon
I have all of those downloaded too. I really like the Denise coat. I haven’t made them so maybe I will silently stalk your plans vlogs and not-commit commit to making them too 😂😂.
Thanks for confirming that! I thought I could tell that from the model photos. I almost always lengthen tops - they are almost always shorter than I'd like.
Good to see you out of your comfort zone. The hairstyle and color looks good on you. A lot of really cool patterns! I also like the poncho look 😏I don’t know, I seem to be gravitating towards that style lately 😊. 👏🏻Can’t wait to see your makes.
I’m a similar size . I love Wacoal bras. They are amazing. Your Band size is measured under your breast. Cup size is your full bust measurement ie 7 inch difference is a G cup 1 inch difference is an A. 2 inches a B . They are great and supportive
Hi Kathy - thanks so much for the bra recommendation! I'm familiar with fitting bras - I've just had trouble with finding brands that fit my band size and don't look like a grandma bra LOL
Thanks Michelle, you’ve shown me some patterns that I haven’t seen before, however I’ve just downloaded the fibre mood harper blouse and can’t wait to try it! Oh and yes your top is great but I do think you should shorten it and maybe take it in a little.
Lots of cool patterns there, Michelle! I'm not familiar with a lot of the companies you bought from; I guess I'm more of a Big 4 gal. But I'm trying to break in to the Indy patterns with a dress I'm working on from Style Arc. Awww...Hercules got a major trim up!
The Big 4 patterns haven't been an option for me for so long (not very size inclusive) that I naturally gravitate toward the Indie companies. Which dress are you working on? I love Style Arc - one of my favorite pattern companies!!
Great pattern info, thanks Michelle! I am short waisted, so I have problems with well-fitting bras. I have been making bras for years, and now never wear RTW. I’ve tried many styles, some with underwires and some without. Underwires always hurt my ribs. For me, appropriate straps make all the difference, no matter which style (bottom banded or unbanded ) I make. I’m looking forward to hearing about your bra journey! Congrats on your weight loss!!
Thank you for sharing these - many of these I’d never heard of! I have a bunch of Seamwork patterns too - I’m working on an Oliver as I type this. The Oliver is a TNT for me. I just love it. I can’t wait to see some of these all made up. 💞
You are always so thoughtful with your choices. I've been considering the Brighton... I ought to just get it! Congrats on the weight loss. I started eating better (for me) the day after Christmas and I'm down 25. It feels good. Off to look at the Brighton again...
Michelle have you tried the Waves and Wild Superstar Bra? I always use this. It is so comfortable and easy to make and I use my jersey scraps to make. Thanks for your vlogs love your chats.
I think we all struggle with bras I have made a couple but not very good and keep saying I need to make a bra but I don’t really like it Cute Pup. I really like your pattern choices x

You are so welcome!

I’d love to see a comparison of the two poncho styles. I love your hair colour.
I'll work on those ponchos soon! Thanks 💕
I love your hair. That color looks gorgeous on you!
Thank you so much 💕
Yes take your top in and make it shorter ✔️I think a semi fitted dress would look great and give you shape. Love your channel thanks for doing it 😃
