Idk who’s more excited about this channel, me or my hubby. I showed this to him yesterday and he said “heck yeah, finally…farmers with honey-do lists UNITE ✊🏼” 🤦🏻♀️😂 Not that we women won’t be doing some of these things as well when need be, but I want to give a huge shout out to our men folk…we appreciate y’all and all the hard work y’all put in! I couldn’t do it without my own Sweet Beau 💯☺️
Indeed! My husband Ryan is happy to build anything my crazy brain comes up with. He is so sweet, he got really excited when I said Miah had his own channel haha
😂😂 I’m the handy’man’. My husbands more of a mechanic than a builder. Guess I consider myself the builder AS LONG AS I have directions. Video directions or build with me is preferred but not required. 😂😅
So glad you decided to start your own channel Miah. Your contributions to the farm need to be showcased because you do such a fantastic job. Everything is looking amazing! Congratulations on your new channel and praying for your continued success! 🙏
YAY! Now I can DOUBLE my addiction to Roots and Refuge!! Congrats on the new channel Miah...THANK U for helping guide us all to building our own little patch of heaven ...MUCH APPRECIATED 😊
Hello Miah, congratulations. I have learned so much from you over the years. I recently experienced an unexpected divorce (after 38 years of marriage, my husband informed me he wants to date). So, I will be doing a lot of building things myself, because I am starting a small urban farm here in California. I will keep watching and learning. I am an elementary school teacher, and Master Gardener. Yet, Miah, You are my "Master Teacher!" Happy Sunday to you, and your family, please tell Jess, "Hello from California. I Love tomatoes too!"
I'm sorry your husband did that. I was married for just under five years when my husband came home and informed me he didn't think we should be married anymore. I can't imagine experiencing that after being married as long as you were. Best of everything as you move forward in life.
@@LulaMae21 Thanks, and I am sorry for your experience with your husband. I am trusting God, and trying to stay focused on living a really good calming life, have an awesome day! Martha
Hey, How are you? I'm a teacher (reading coach this year). My husband passed away in 2019. I've asked the Abundance community to hold a woodworking class for inexperienced, but want to build things. There's nothing like someone showing you how do things, but I need guidance to try to do it myself.
"Double Dose", Miah's Workshop and Roots and Refuge Farm! Now that's "medicine" for the heart and soul! Great job, Miah and truly appreciated. Much love and God bless.
MIAH!!!! Wheeerrre aaarrre yoouu?! All good man? All of your videos are awesome. I speak for the people when I say we have tasted the greatness of this channel and fervently request more! Thank you for your content :)
That's beautiful and much more simple to do than I thought! Thanks for the great sourcing tips, too. For those if us just starting out with little to no building experience, I would love to see basic tool use. Squaring up corners would be extremely helpful! Thank you, Miah for staying your channel! You are a wonderful teacher!🎉
Me too! Also price range for the components. Great job being specific about some things but I'm curious how much this would set a non-homesteader back for 1 or 2 beds as a start.
Agree - actually seeing video of how you do the details with a little more explanation would be a great help, including the mitre saw. Been gardening in-ground for decades but building these beautiful beds requires tools and materials new to me. SO GLAD you posted this video, I've gone through all of Jess's at the new farm looking for where I missed this!
Take a measurement from corner to corner diagonally lengthwise. Example, number your corners 1, 2, 3, and 4. The measurement from corners 1 to 3, should equal measurement from corners 2 to 4. If not, push in on 1 of the corners on the longer measured corners until both measurements equal each other. I know this answer is a year old, but I hope it still helps. Good luck in your garden.
We Roots and Refuge ladies recognize each other out in the world by our t-shirts. Now when we are out driving through the countryside, we will be able to recognize other R&R fans by their raised beds!! Very cool!! Thanks for the how-to.
Great idea to tack together with the air nailer before putting all the screws in....that would have saved me so much time in most of the projects I've completed so far in my garden. Will be using that method in the future for sure.
These raised beds make planting so much easier. The days of on your knees and hurting your back are a thing of the past. These give the gardener a place to sit too. You are a good man to do this for your spouse.
We had some leftovers from a bulld. Seen your video and my husband and I built one proto garden bed. Can’t tell you how happy I am with it as we are moving from a farm to the city. I can still have a garden even if we get to new place early summer. Thank You!
Awesome job Miah! I have been waiting on this video! We have a hodpodge of raised beds- some metal, some brick, some wood. But when we move I’d like some more uniform beds. Thank y’all!!
Your raised beds have come a long way since the early days in Arkansas. I love that your first beds were built with scrap metal and live wood posts as I love the rustic appeal but THESE beds are gorgeous! They look fabulous around the greenhouse and the whole garden space is just amazing. Excellent job on all of it! Glad you're sharing your skills on your new channel. God bless! P.S. We just rented a gas powered post pounder last week. Now it's on the must purchase list. 😆 Total game changer.
Me over here "HONEY GET IN HERE MIAH HAS HIS OWN CHANNEL!!!!" Him: "Who???" Me: "MIAH! Jess' Husband from Roots and Refuge!!!" Him: "Great..... there goes MY weekends for the next 50 years...." I'm SO EXCITED! Thank you Miah for supporting Jess in such a wonderful way - and now we get to support you!
I'm so excited that you've finally launched your channel! Been looking forward to seeing your infrastructure builds for a long time. The lumber you're using here is particularly gorgeous.
Wonderful vlog. I have struggled with the center of my beds bowing out. I used wood to tie the 2 center supports together. I found that because they touch the soil, they rot out quickly. Thank you for sharing your experience.
My wife and I have been watching your videos with our Sunday morning coffee for a few years now and I can’t tell you how THRILLED I am to see this new channel Miah! We’re just north of y’all in NC and have been gardening for about 4 years now using your videos for inspiration! Can’t wait to see more content and support from all your viewers!
Thank you so much for sharing this. Love watching you. I was just outside with ny husband and contemplating how to make beautiful raised beds then I seen your video. Again thank you
We made our new bed similar to yours, Miah; the photos of Jess' beds were a huge help to His Hubbiness. 😉 All scrap metal sheeting (nice grey green color) and mostly scrap cedar. Yaay!
These raised beds are beautiful! Great job, Jeremiah . Thank you for showing how you made them. It would be a dream of mine to have a couple of days here one day. I'm so thankful for this video so I can show someone and maybe it can happen. You sure know your beautiful wife Jessica heart. Thank you for being such a testimony of the love language to Jess
WOW! So that's how you build those raised beds. Those scraps of metal was a great treasure find. I thought they were wood painted black. I found a pile of plastic panels made the same way. They were too short for anything big, but not for reinforcing my chicken coop 😊. I plan on redoing my raised garden boxes. They are much too low to the ground. Thank you for all the inspiration!
Hi Miah, thanks so much for sharing this build! I've loved the look of these beds ever since you guys installed them and have always wondered about the construction. Appreciate it!
I was waiting for this video to come out. I'm so glad you are launching your own. That means a little more videos from Roots and Refuge to enjoy and learn from.
