if batter clamp icons don't appear your connection is bad wiggle clamps till see the clamp icons never clamp to neg. post with neg clamp battery's leak gas a spark can make battery explode
I just bought one of these, and it's the exact one you have. I have not needed it yet to jump start, but in the manual under JumpStart under procedure, it says connect positive +red clamp to vehicle battery's positive terminal then connect negative - black clamp to chassis or solid non moving metal vehicle component or body part and to never clamp directly to negative battery terminal or moving part. Is this why your Everstart Maxx shut off when you were trying to demonstrate a jump start? Also if their saying not to connect the negative -black clamp to the negative battery terminal, what do I connect it to . Any feedback from anyone would be helpful. Thanks
Hi Tina sorry for the slow response. I had some surgery but am doing well now. The reason they don't want to ever connect to the negative terminal is all batteries out gas from the acid liquid inside the battery and that gas is hydrogen and explosive. It is a rare thing but creating a spark when touching the negative terminal, it can happen under certain circumstances. Such as trying to start a car with a good battery and the car doesn't start and the battery runs down. That constant pull on the battery can cause an out gas. Charging a battery at high current can create out gas. A bad voltage regulator that results in an overcharge of the battery can create out gas. It is rare but it can happen.
Wow! Were you inflating a tire to 45PSI or just checking out the pump? Not surprised about the light. I wondered if one could pull the light loose to use it, but didn't want to pull too hard.
