This guide will be going through the best activities and farming methods to get light quickly towards the max light of 385 or 400, and also my best tips on how to maximise what you get from engrams and infusion. I promised myself to only open one exotic heavy. Nemesis Star at 240. It helped me through some of the more difficult stuff, so opening something actually helped me. I recommend opening the vast majority of your exotic engrams at around 365
How to get thorn.
what you need to do is complete the iron lord bounties from shiro-4 and you will have a chance of receiving the quest line and what you must do is down below. ;)
1. Echoes of Darkness
Face The Wretched Eye strike and defeat Kovik, the Devil Splicers’ high priest. No difficulty requirement.2. Harvest of the Lesser
Wipe out Fallen in the Plaguelands to feed the weapon’s appetite. You’ll need to kill several hundred Splicers.3. Feast Upon the Light
Use Void Damage to defeat Guardians in the Crucible.Thankfully there appears to be no penalties for deaths or losses, so you “only” need to kill about 125 players to complete this. Private matches will not progress the Exotic quest. Hopefully you still have a decent Void weapon somewhere; remember it doesn’t matter what its stats are in standard, level-adjusted Crucible, so even Word of Crota will do.4. Cleansed by The Light
Consume Motes of Light to Cleanse yourself and the weapon. Five Motes. If you don’t have enough Motes, earn XP, play Crucible matches or cash in engrams.5. Where it Began
Find a Skeleton Key and open the Strike Hoard at the end of “The Abomination Heist” Strike

Surprisingly that sounds much better than year 1. Year 1 thorn quest was so fucking annoying and then they nerf the fucking gun. Pretty much making the gun pointless to use. If they do the same shit then what is the point of bringing it back?

What I found to be the fastest way was Archeon's Forge. I just go there and start it up, after a little bit randoms come and join me and we keep popping SIVA offerings one after another. With 4+ people in there at all times at least one of us always drops an offering, keeping the cycle going. After a couple of hours of non-stop forging I had gained 11 light and had at least 50 blue and purple engrams to get me even higher. AND it's way more efficient than grinding strikes as one round in the forge takes less than 10 minutes.

they are drops u can get and u have to go to acons forge to use them there like court if oryx

IMPORTANT once you hit the 340-365 mark instead of doing 350* Heroic Siva Strikes it might be better to simply do the 320 normal strikes; at 320* strikes you're more likely to get skeleton keys and complete strikes faster. NOTE: Skeleton Chests all drop at your light level up until 385* then only exotics will get you up.
biggest thing I learned. don't open all your engrams at once. do it one at a time and check the light. no matter if it's blue or w.e one at a time check light and level up. one by one. because if you open them all up at the same time they will all be the same light level or one above your current.
Yeah but there's no point in doing it with rares cos they only drop from engrams at 340 but they go to max level as a drop from heroic strikes.
I found this video very helpful in my progression. It was difficult to get past light level 320 for me but after watching this and playing for less than an hour I found myself at light level 345. Thanks for the tips!

Actually, from 365 to 385 is the hardest. Im currently 370 and legendaries dont go past 365 from cryptarc. Only way to level is exotics, raid and skeleton chests.
and faction level ups. Use vanguard boosters and do 2 hours of SIVA heroic playlist, you may also rank up your dead orbit/whatever faction. And get artifacts by leveling your Eris porn faction, from court of oryx.

im at light 354 atm and ya its very tempting to infuse. ofc its easy to get marks and all so meh doable. strikes are like mini NFs now xD I cant go runninn and gunnin in some strikes

Doing that same thing you mentioned in your video. Thanks mate, very good explanation... I'm at 367 right now with some Raid gear and mostly Omnigul blues... My grind for Exotics before the ROI update was so intense that Ive got about 60 exotic engrams waiting in my vault lol... I'm using them 3 at a time as I get better blues and faction packages. Should be at 380 in no time!

I've hit 351 on my hunter and it is pure hell getting anything to drop high enough for me to level up. I'm just grinding heroic strikes and doing a public event per character.

Do Heroic Strikes. Even blue engrams drop somewhat high! Pop that 3 of coins and if you have a skeleton key for after the strike you'll get some good bonuses in the chest.
Bungie has now patched the Omnigul cheese. :-/

Destiny hates me. I've never known enough people to do the raid. And I have grinded strikes for months but I have only ever had one key. Still I managed to get 382.

Yes they do, it's a glitch. Got a 300 No Land Beyond from a blue before rise of iron dropped and I've seen people on my Xbox feed post videos of them decrypting blue engrams and getting exotics.

I doubt it. dumbass kids will but even if you can get to 365 off farming omnigul you've still got plenty of content to do. exotic quests for gally, kovostov, thorn. iron banner. raid starting the, and then hard mode next week. iron lord artifacts and crucible. there's enough to keep me here more than a week

he random question, so I've got several 350 gear pieces from the tower and then some upper 340's on all the rest of my stuff. I'm sitting at 348. Should I start using my purples or wait till 350. I would think since purples cap at 365 that using from 350 to 65 is the best time. Any opinions?

It's actually not that hard to get...lots of videos on youtube to help. For me, beating the "Beauty in Delivery" mission was the biggest PITA but I saw a tip to just stand behind the desk where the ghost was working and beat it on my 2nd try.
I didn't need a video I been knew about the quest and compared to my year horn this one is not as helpful in the raid year 2 and year 3 noobs use it because they heard it was a Godly rocket launcher... so yea

+Mohammad Ali just grinding strikes, I had also saved up all of the legendary/exotic engrams I got prior to the release and used them when I got to around 350/355 since I noticed I had reached somewhat of a stump. Pretty much just friended strikes all the time, I'm currently sitting at 376 due to doing the raid on 2 characters and kinda bouncing infusions back and forth.

It does. I did omnigul 3 times and it never gave me and exotic but it still took up my coins

blue engrams drop max 340 light armour and weapons. You'll have a tuff time in the story, as I did, but you'll be at 350-360 in no time
u can do challenge of elders they can drop up 2 365 gear

Very informative, i usually just decrypt the legendaries as soon as i get em, but i will definitely save from now on, all my characters are in the mid 340s ive done the damn gjhallarhorn quest 3 times now ;(

Nice vid. Very helpful even though I have been opening my legendary engrams but I've been saving the exotics. I'm level 340 as of right now. Not in a rush to get to 365. Heroic strikes are arc burn, catapult and juggler this week, making them pretty accessible if you're around 340, as recommended is only 350. It wouldn't hurt to buy a vendor ghost if you have legendary marks. And heavy ammo is not a waste, buy it in the reef for an ether seed and a low glimmer cost, there is no "wasting glimmer" if you play the game.
You can also go to Variks in the Reef, and buy heavy ammo for 250 glimmer and 1 ether seed

Just hit 360 last night. So glad that Destiny is challenging again, I'm loving it.
I'm currently sitting at 346-349 after playing the game for a day and a half straight.
I have half of my iron-booklet nearly completed so I got most of the iron gear, ect.
My goal now is to just grind the strikes as you have mentioned in the video.
Man this brings me back. Nothing like unknown and d1, I have such nostalgia for the whole vibe of d1. I don't know why, but rise of iron was one of my favorite expansions. So many good memories. I would love to learn wrath some day, or any destiny raid. Anxiety is killing me though...

I solo'd the gjallahorn mission without thinking about getting help, it was pretty easy- but it took a lot of time and was frustrating at times. I didn't know it was a popular quest to get help with.

330. Just got it today. I had to do that mission you were doing in vid for year three gjallahorn solo because I don't have PS Plus. It was very annoying because of all the exploder shanks.
