This video confirms that BusyMouthBeats talks a whole lot but ain't saying shit. I learned more here in 10 min than in 10 of his videos. Thanks brotha!
MrDifferentTV while mastering do you have to create a mix buss or can I control the volume of each instrument on the master track while I'm mastering with fruity limiter?
I feel you bro on getting your own shit going...Your a beast with it, I rather listen to somebody who gets straight to the point, Good Job my brotha!!!
whatsup slim aka mr different. im new to ur channel; this'll be my first comment. im not one for trap beats but im a sucker for a good mix. real nice, real informative
Tipp: When turning up your headphones gain to compensate the low mix volume, put on a limiter at 0db on the master chain in order to prevent to damage your ears if a sound comes out far to loud (can happen when you play with compressors for example)
I fuck with you slim, your tutorials are straight to the point & no bull shit to help us succeed as a producer. Don't take offense but this tutorial is difficult to understand to learn how to mix I've watched it over & over again but still can't get the hang of mixing, it feels like rocket science to learn how to mix, don't get me wrong your tutorials are awesome & easy but this one is difficult to understand
Isaac Duran what exactly is it you're having issues with ? . If it helps I start off my mix with my kick until hit hits -10 db then match the snare to around that level . I also try to keep the 808 around 5 db lower than the kick , the rest of the drums I level relative to those 3 things ( op/ closed hi hats , triangles , claps etc).. I also have a bus set up just for drums that I set up first .There's more to it when I add the other non drum elements in but you can start from there until your find your groove .
sliiiiiiiim daamn your helping me alot these days , thank you , tbh i never mixed with the -6db rule , cus its hard to do it , i use alot of heavy instruments lot of ammo lool , so its been so hard for me to keep up with -6db but this tutorial is gold , really a good stuff !!! anyway !! leave some room for me so i can bring some works to the live beat review :D :D !!! i'm comming back lool
great video! very helpful. what about that brainworx plugin, is that free and if not, is there a free version or something similar on FL standard? thanks :)
Love your work. Very well explained I follow you a lot as well as busy work beats. Do you produce old school boom bap Wu tang kind of stuff? I would love it if you did some boom bap tutorials. Will your mixing method work with boom bap?
Hey @MrDifferentTV , could you do a tutorial on how to EQ a piano, I had this bundle pack of plugins that came with my audio interface when I bought it, It's from a company called XlR Audio I think and I have a piano plugin but its giving me a hard time with EQ'ing it because it has a lot of frequencies that's hard to get rid of.
Im really Thankfull for the Videos you put out!! They are so helpful and compared to the Products of BwB (unfortunately i bought something there way back) there mixing course you have to pay for is just Shit against your Videos. Keep this good work up!!
i've downloaded and tried using the KMeter but now there is a lag when i press play. any thoughts? it lags even after changing my audio driver and buffer settings.
Frankie Castelluccio you could a lot of people like to stay around 6db, but I know people like 808 mafia put a soft clipper on there master track and go around the top of the meter.
Hey guys, I've been trying to import the K-meter into my fl 12 for 3 days now and for some reason it says "failed to load" I don't know where I'm going wrong. does anyone have some helpful videos or tips for me?
Point of clarification: when you selected the clips in playlist mode, did you select a portion of the playlist that includes all the tracks (drums, plugins, etc...) so you dont have to repeat the process several times?
MrDifferentTV last not least im buying that plug in brainworx and which one is it exactly i ha e option like bx boo. bx control bx digital etc which one is the one on vid
thank you for this!! 1 question I have is, I see you did all your effects prior to leveling. seems like a good idea because some plugins make the sound louder. so when mixing prior to leveling what are you setting the volumes of the faders at?
Prodby Eso thanks . But my beats still sound quiet . It could maybe be my shit mixing skills . Can u check out my tm88 type beat and tell me what must be done to improve This my soundcloud :- m.soundcloud.com/arshan-sudhir
it doesn't matter what volume you mix at. just not too loud so your ears don't fatigue while your mixing. besides that it is just personal preference. no rules.
Hey Mr. Different. When you export does your mix sound quiet? I get that a lot and it really annoys me and it sounds unprofessional. Is there a way to get the final mix to export loud? I already tried lowering the volume on my headphones and monitors to try to get everything louder but that doesn't help much. If anybody has any ideas feel free to let me know
If the volume knob (upper left) of fl studio is low, it also affects when you export the mix. Also, sometimes it's quiet because you haven't mastered it yet.
Just to be sure it's not clipping, check the master track of your mixer and play your song. If it goes above 0dB, then it's clipping. (Which usually can be solved by putting a limiter.) Also, the best level : For listening? Depends on you but don't turn it up too loud or you might damage your ears. For Pre-master? Make sure it doesn't peak above -6dB. (This only concerns you if you wanna send it to a mastering engineer.) For exporting? 100%. (Though with a limiter so it doesn't clip.) (Also when you mastered it but I suggest you focus on composing first rather than mastering.) Hope it wasn't too complicated. Also, welcome to producing. (Since your new and stuff.)
Well I don't know which part of the video you are referring to, but if you have to pull the faders all the way to the top to reach a certain dB value, your original signal/sample might be too quiet. You should either amplify it or just search for a better sample.
Keveonte Hall-Deloach Just youtube "fls making tags trap rap beats" or something. you have all the answers at your finger tips, you just have to know how to search
mr different, thanks for this valuable knowledge. one question though. what do you do with that mix bus? is that where you put your effects when you are ready to master the beat? mixbuss compressor, imager, eq, etc.
I have some 808 kits but never really played around with it n how to get the sound, its the vst that was in the chain that made it sound so aggressive?
Can you do a video describing the difference between peak levels and rms cause if I mix the rms to -12 the peak levels or even my current level on fl studio is at -3 or 0 db So If the current is at -3 or 0bd dosnt that leave me with no head room left over? Someone please answer cause I need to know witch one I should mix to, wither I should ignore the peak and current or compress them or make the peak at -12 db idk
I tried installing the 32 bit vst into Fl 12 32 bit version and it doesn't load completely so i tried the standalone version. When i pull that up and look for my peak the volume doesn't go higher than around -75db...any idea what im doin wrong?
ctr-shft right click hold and drag. it def gives you more control of your mix but if your just starting out just learn mixing in general first but busing is a part of mixing.
Taran Singh having the buses can make it easier so control multiple tracks at the same time . For example , you can route all of your drums to a bus and add compression , eq or anything else to the bus to manipulate everything inside of it , can help you save resources. In that scenario it was also be easier to raise or lower the drums all together if they were too low or loud compared to everything else . Hoped this helped
it can depending on the full mix. ultimately panning just helps in the overall atmosphere of the beat. sometimes u may put somthing more to the left or right to make that other sound in the middle or vice versa stick out,ect
This video confirms that BusyMouthBeats talks a whole lot but ain't saying shit. I learned more here in 10 min than in 10 of his videos. Thanks brotha!
Money H. Blessin' hahaaha i Kinda been feeling like that too yo
I learn more with you than I ever learned in college. keep up the good work .

Dope! Your info is A1!!

i prefer mr diff than busywackbeats
I've also started to make the change myself.
Very helpful vid bro, how else can we check mono for free and also how can I mix certain drums in stereo
I fuck with you slim, your tutorials are straight to the point & no bull shit to help us succeed as a producer. sliiiiiiiim daamn your helping me alot these days , thank you , tbh i never mixed with the -6db rule , cus its hard to do it , i use alot of heavy instruments lot of ammo lool , so its been so hard for me to keep up with -6db but this tutorial is gold , really a good stuff !!! anyway !! leave some room for me so i can bring some works to the live beat review :D :D !!! i'm comming back lool

How much does that rms cost
what abut using the fruity db meter? is it the same as brainworx

if you want to buy a meter a suggest levels by master the mix for real the best plugin
Thank You' Love You Man' You Tutorial Help Me A-Lot
really helpfull video
Love your work. Very well explained I follow you a lot as well as busy work beats. Do you produce old school boom bap Wu tang kind of stuff? I would love it if you did some boom bap tutorials. Will your mixing method work with boom bap?
Can you do a video on Zgame editor and maybe beat stars?
Yo Slim. Thanks for this video. I know a lot of people still choose to use FL11 like myself. Is there a way to do the highlight @ 3:00 in FL11?
Awesome video. My only question is why do you send things to the mix buss if you do not don't anything, such as add effects or VSTs, to the channel?
When I download the file it gave me 2 dll files but when I put them in my folder for vst it said file not installed properly

Goat
I need this 808 🔥🔥🔥
That beat is fire!
learned alot! thank you!
THX!
Im really Thankfull for the Videos you put out!!
They are so helpful and compared to the Products of BwB (unfortunately i bought something there way back) there mixing course you have to pay for is just Shit against your Videos.
Keep this good work up!!
i've downloaded and tried using the KMeter but now there is a lag when i press play. any thoughts?
it lags even after changing my audio driver and buffer settings.
i have the same problem, maybe its cuz ur computer isnt good... i know that thats the problem im having
Mr.different TV so when mixing with a meter what K scale should I use for hip-hop rap in that genre????
K-12
Is it more important to look at the peak meter or RMS when mixing? If so what dB values do you usually look to hit?
Frankie Castelluccio you could a lot of people like to stay around 6db, but I know people like 808 mafia put a soft clipper on there master track and go around the top of the meter.
I don't get why you added all channels to to mixing buss 2 ,you never touched that channel.can you exp, ain't it or did I miss something ?
Thank you so much you just helped me solved my whole issue I had
Hey guys, I've been trying to import the K-meter into my fl 12 for 3 days now and for some reason it says "failed to load" I don't know where I'm going wrong. does anyone have some helpful videos or tips for me?
Aryn Ison usually that means the source files for the plugin are corrupt or missing. Try installing it again it might fix it
Point of clarification: when you selected the clips in playlist mode, did you select a portion of the playlist that includes all the tracks (drums, plugins, etc...) so you dont have to repeat the process several times?
IS K-Meter on Mac?
+SAVAGESQUADENT I have to look but I use the bx meter which is
do you have a link to that?
Nice job
love your tutorials earned a new sub
From which drum kit comes this kick (grime) ? It's dope!
MrDifferentTV thanks bro!
why do u make a bus for all ur sounds ? i have more questions bout vid but this is first one ?
MrDifferentTV so my next question is im confused thats what ur master channel for tho right? thats what is confusing me
MrDifferentTV last not least im buying that plug in brainworx and which one is it exactly i ha e option like bx boo. bx control bx digital etc which one is the one on vid
MrDifferentTV got u...... i have a bundle deal on their site so im decided whether to get all or just the one. i think ima get all of them
MrDifferentTV do you recommend the bx meter?
Why mr different s answers are cancelled? i wanna know too..
so before mastering, the track should be at 12 db in k12 metering?
thank you for this!! 1 question I have is, I see you did all your effects prior to leveling. seems like a good idea because some plugins make the sound louder. so when mixing prior to leveling what are you setting the volumes of the faders at?
What should set the volume of my PC to while mixing beats . I produce on headphones .
Around 30% to 40%
Prodby Eso thanks . But my beats still sound quiet . It could maybe be my shit mixing skills . Can u check out my tm88 type beat and tell me what must be done to improve
This my soundcloud :-
m.soundcloud.com/arshan-sudhir
Prodby Eso thank you so much anyways
it doesn't matter what volume you mix at. just not too loud so your ears don't fatigue while your mixing. besides that it is just personal preference. no rules.
20k let's get it
Thank you for these videos Slim! Unsubscribed to bwb, he wants us to buy his stupid courses, and you give em out for free! Much love man
Einar-Magnus Tveit word
in all fairness bwb mixing course goes indepth and explain what compressor, reverb, delay etc.. and how to use it..so theres lots of info in there
i agree, but bwb is charging for information that we get for free from grinding producers like mr different
Hey Mr.
Kuseki Akorame That won't affect anything? Like clipping and stuff? Also what's the best level? Sorry I'm kinda new to this
Just to be sure it's not clipping, check the master track of your mixer and play your song.
If it goes above 0dB, then it's clipping. (Which usually can be solved by putting a limiter.)
Also, the best level :
For listening? Depends on you but don't turn it up too loud or you might damage your ears.
For Pre-master? Make sure it doesn't peak above -6dB.
(This only concerns you if you wanna send it to a mastering engineer.)
For exporting? 100%. (Though with a limiter so it doesn't clip.)
(Also when you mastered it but I suggest you focus on composing first rather than mastering.)
Hope it wasn't too complicated.
Also, welcome to producing. (Since your new and stuff.)
Kuseki Akorame thank you sir. I appreciate your help
Lukas Brausch No problem mate, it's nice to see new people producing.
when i mix how come i have to pull my faders very high in order to reach that 0 db , versus yours were it lays somewhat in the middle
add this also causes my peak meter to hit red at certain sounds, is that bad?
Well I don't know which part of the video you are referring to, but if you have to pull the faders all the way to the top to reach a certain dB value, your original signal/sample might be too quiet. You should either amplify it or just search for a better sample.
How do you do your tags
Keveonte Hall-Deloach Just youtube "fls making tags trap rap beats" or something. you have all the answers at your finger tips, you just have to know how to search
ok thanks
Np! Good luck
mr different, thanks for this valuable knowledge. one question though. what do you do with that mix bus? is that where you put your effects when you are ready to master the beat? mixbuss compressor, imager, eq, etc.
How did u get your bass like that? It reminds me of dirty money bass by tory lanez n i want to get my stuff like that to, any tutorials on it?
I have some 808 kits but never really played around with it n how to get the sound, its the vst that was in the chain that made it sound so aggressive?
You can use the Fast Dist plugin, it will distort it and you can play around so you get that aggressive dirty 808 sound
I'm doing this right now with a beat I'm working on. You can check it out, it's my recent video
learn to make your own 808. you could use 3xosc
when i load up the K meter, my dB levels go through the roof and clip, as if the K meter is adding gain to my mix. ever have that issue?
try looking up bx meter its what i use now and its the best
i'm having the same issue :(
ended up going with the fabfilter suite. Thank you for the response bruh. Really appreciate your videos, keeping me motivated.
Can you do a video describing the difference between peak levels and rms cause if I mix the rms to -12 the peak levels or even my current level on fl studio is at -3 or 0 db
So If the current is at -3 or 0bd dosnt that leave me with no head room left over?
Someone please answer cause I need to know witch one I should mix to, wither I should ignore the peak and current or compress them or make the peak at -12 db idk
Like my mixs come out perfect sounding, I just don't know what level I should make final before I post them on beat stars or sell them to a artist
if you already sidechained your kick to your 808 will routing them to another track mess it up
nah it will be fine as long as you make sure the kick track is still linked to the 808 when you reroute the kick
I tried installing the 32 bit vst into Fl 12 32 bit version and it doesn't load completely so i tried the standalone version. When i pull that up and look for my peak the volume doesn't go higher than around -75db...any idea what im doin wrong?
IZOTOPE TUTORIAL
My 808 sounds perfect in my room but seems too loud when I play it in the car..,. Why why
Sammo Sounds make sure you mix with the right speakers
Armend Alkasseem I use the krk 6 but don't really get the bass response.. I usually mix with headphones
Calm Z do you use reference tracks?
ZonicTV thanks
ZonicTV do I need to put foams on my window too?
How would you highlight all the mixer channels and route them to bus with fl studio10? and is that even a necessary process?
ctr-shft right click hold and drag. it def gives you more control of your mix but if your just starting out just learn mixing in general first but busing is a part of mixing.
Didn't work in my fl10, unless i'm trippin. But couldn't you use the sends for busing and get the same result?
Whats the point of routing them all to the buss?
Taran Singh having the buses can make it easier so control multiple tracks at the same time . For example , you can route all of your drums to a bus and add compression , eq or anything else to the bus to manipulate everything inside of it , can help you save resources. In that scenario it was also be easier to raise or lower the drums all together if they were too low or loud compared to everything else . Hoped this helped
Mister Mullins Thanks
Another one!
Somehow my software doesn´t recognize the K-Meter, do you know any other free meteres that you could recommend?
Where do I install the K-Meter?! So noobish but I'm stuck lol...
google bro.... ??
Yo MrDifferentTv How exactly did you get it to download and be installed into FL studio. I can't get it to work in FL Studio right.
CamMcSwag he means the k plugin haha
can we work together ! my name is Jros i could use your craft - i hope you are willing to help.
i wish you were a maschine dude i dont use fruity anymore, maschine & reasons for me
if after ur done mixing and it isnt at 0 should u just raise all the volumes at the same time to get it to 0?
you can do it using the compressor/limiter
Does panning make the Mix sound fuller?
it can depending on the full mix. ultimately panning just helps in the overall atmosphere of the beat. sometimes u may put somthing more to the left or right to make that other sound in the middle or vice versa stick out,ect
Also what does headroom mean
errybody
B
damn u using 3300+ mbs....and u aint even got that white line thats shows the amount u been using like damn u must got a tone of memory bruh
***** dope my g dope.
