- Hello everyone, hopefully we're all having a wonderful day! Huge thank you to my great patron Paul for this request. I think I've heard 1 Van Morrison song in my entire life, Brown Eyed Girl, so I'm excited to hear more of his catalog!

This is another great performer who's music I grew up with. His recording career spans nearly seven decades. Van Morrison is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter & multi-instrumentalist. He can play guitar, harmonica, keyboards & saxophone. In the mid 60's he was in the band "THEM" & their biggest hits were "Gloria", "Baby Please Don't Go", "Here Comes The Night" & "Mystic Eyes". Van Morrison later went solo & has had tons of hits such as "Brown Eyed Girl", "Moondance", "Tupeleo Honey", "Have I Told You Lately", "Into The Mystic", "It Stoned Me" etc.
Pee Wee ellis flute that sax solo was Van
I will open your life to Van, Van is the singer and sax soloist
Yes, most of his bands feature horn players. Van himself played the sax solo here.
He always had horns and flute and a violin...his voice is the best ever, he always takes you on a spiritual journey..
That's just the way Van talks. He may have had some alcohol but he never did drugs.
While the musicians may improvise, it is definitely Van running the train. Most Van Morrison song's take you on a spiritual journey. Your brain is changed after listening to Van.
Simply sublime.
Is Van a Prog rocker? Never thought of him as such but why not? Among his fans there is the general consensus that Van Morrison falls into a genre of his own as he includes so many elements much of them rooted in his childhood fascination with America jazz, blues, country, folk and of course his native Celtic music (the album Irish Heartbeat he did with the Chieftains is classic). BTW he plays guitar, piano, Saxophone and harmonica and leads an ever changing band of sensational players including the late Pee Wee Ellis whose sax solo is what you were raving about in Rave On John Donne. May I suggest another one of his eclectic meditative pieces to groove on which features a fabulous trumpet at the start and a deeply moving Hammond organ as well - Ancient Highway off of the record Days Like This.
Van Morrison is a person. He is from Ireland. His speech is more Irish, than his singing. This album is from the 80's. His last album was about 6 months ago. He has 43 studio albums, 7 live albums and 9 compilation albums. His bands vary in size, but always first class musicians. ps. your mix is off. You need to increase the gain on your source and lower your mic input. Thanks for this reaction !
Also, thanks for this
Check out the video where he performed the whole 'Astral Weeks' album at the Hollywood Bowl, with just that massive band. ua-cam.com/video/n7BrsLgOUh8/v-deo.html
