      Shoulders of Giants , well, those are wild animals normally, and these ones are human dependents... most of them probably bought them for a large sum of money, are we really going to argue about the phrasing?

      巨人の 肩 I mean the birds don’t really have a choice of being bought and then put in a house in a cage or aviary... there not in their natural habitats and aren’t being rehabilitated so they were purchased like property as with every bird in that trade. As sad as it sounds saying owner isn’t incorrect technically. I’m just so so so thankful that these people are fantastic bird enthusiasts and don’t clip their wings like people sued to do. I love seeing free flying videos you can see how happy the birds are !

      Parrots and Macaws in particular are very loyal they live for 40 years at most and sometimes are given away but this stresses them out as they get heart broken and they’ll develop sort of twitches, most commonly being, pulling out their feathers. So they’re not likely to run... fly away from a good home, they’re probably microchipped too.

    I happened to see a Nature epi-"Parrot Confidential" a few years ago. In it, a Costa Rican center for macaws who've been rescued were bred and the babies (once grown up) released into the wild (one at a time so they have a chance to survive). It is so AWESOME to see each descendant of pets/rescues flying in the wild with their flock!!😍
    Thank you for taking the time to understand your pet, your little loved one!💞 And for giving them what they so desperately need-not just life and time outside the cage with others...but SOARING above it high up in the air!!!😃 With friends and new birds alike. 👼
    *If anyone's thinking of buying a bird, pls adopt*
    In the Nature episode, they give multiple examples of bird sanctuaries that are full and turn away 100's of birds a year. Some are just private homes. There's a one man/woman team who bought a farm, rebuilt it, and had 2-3 loooong buildings yet were at the point of bursting with 300 birds.😵 With only a staff of 6 ppl to feed them and 35 volunteers. The world needs ppl with hearts like this!💕

      ultimatejay waiting for answer 😆

    • @ib9rt
      @ib9rt 6 років тому +4

      They might get spooked and fly off, of course. The flight response is a natural behavior if a bird is alarmed, and these birds are out in nature behaving naturally. The birds are also self-reliant and confident in their surroundings, so flying off is nothing to be concerned about. The bird will do its thing, and will come back in its own time, when it feels comfortable doing so. (But note especially that these birds are properly trained for free flight since fledging and are not just indoor pet birds being let loose.)

    How often are Hawks, Eagles, Falcons, ect. an issue?

    • @BirdTricks
      @BirdTricks  6 років тому +10

      Not very often. We've only ever had 2 encounters and we've been flying for 9+ years. One of which was a tiny kestrel hawk who would pose no threat (but still dove at our macaw a couple times being territorial) and the other a hawk dropped out of a tree to test our flock (find a weak one) and immediately moved on. If there are any in the area, we stop flying until it either leaves or we do. When flying in large flocks like this though, it's very unlikely a predator bird would initiate.

    How do you guys keep the hawks and falcons away from your birds?

    • @BirdTricks
      @BirdTricks  6 років тому +70

      We are flying pretty big birds and a large flock together; plus this are not recognized prey. A bird of prey would have to be more desperate to come after these guys as they could most likely get hurt in the process and being hurt in the wild usually means death so they're selective about prey unless they're starving. Also we are flying at locations heavily guarded by ravens who are very territorial and chase hawks and eagles from the areas but don't seem to mind us.

    • @tcfunvids
      @tcfunvids 6 років тому +6

      Those parrots have bolt cutters for beaks that would do serious damage to a hawk or falcon, and the birds of prey know better than to mess with them.

    • @ruthlesslistener
      @ruthlesslistener 6 років тому +10

      Patriot Jefferson Wings should ONLY ever be clipped if the birds are too anxious/not good at controlled flights, and only the tips of the longest feathers should be trimmed, so the bird can still fly, just slowly, so they don't hurt hurt themselves. Most people don't know how to trim properly and it's awful- no bird born with flight should have it truely taken away
