So does bay the moon mean "bark the moon", as a dog that bark at the moon. ??? If yes, thats another word for bark, that I didn' knew existed. I'm German and we say bellen like: the dog barks, "Der Hund bellt". The dog barks at the moon (Der Hund bellt den Mond an) "anbellen" barking at. Der Mond = the moon. So we call dogs "bello" because it comes from "bellen" which means barking. Many southlanders think we mean beautiful as e.g. italian "bello", but its not. Beautiful is called schön. 😅
@@LuciaSims745 Baying is a specific vocalization, somewhere between a regular bark and a howl. Barks are short and harsh, howls are long and melodic, Bays are the middle ground.

That is a very convincing mediæval-style drawing of a chili plant. I was trying to work out what other plant it could be that looked so like a chili but was from before the introduction of plants from the Americas for an embarrassingly long time before it clicked about the band.
Absolutely incredible adaptation of the lyrics, my favourite change is the aurochs for platypus, not only because obviously Australia was unknown to medieval Europeans but also because the aurochs disappeared from central Europe by the XII century until they finally and sadly went extinct in Eastern Europe the XVII century, so by the time of the song they would have certainly "number few"! I'm absolutely fascinated with the attention to detail! Also, more RHCP would be incredible! Desecration Smile is the one that first comes to mind for bardcore.
I love listening to your music. I found your work while teaching medieval history to middle schoolers and now I get to relive my teenage music loves with an amazing twist. Thanks for doing this!
the wordplay on "my thyme is choked with rue" sounding like "my time is choked with rue" because rue is both a plant and a feeling of regret is GORGEOUS
Hey, just here to tell you how much I adore your work. Within a couple of years, you managed to elevate something that was just an elaborate joke to something that stands on its own, and actually teaches us about... well... how going back can bring us forward, I guess? Thank you!
I've been listening to your music for a long time now (and have used it in several D&D games) and just figured out where your name comes from. Amazing. :)
Lady Hildegard von Blingin', accompanied by an as yet unknown artist to me known by the masses as Collin Vodicka, a perfect appearance on mine first day off this week.
Beautiful singing as ever :-) Now I have to go and listen to RHCPs song just to remember what it even sounds like, not a hardship but still. Love how Hildegards versions of some songs makes me forget how the originals and making me go back to them. Best of Luck.

"I'd rather be a dog and bay the moon" is a great replaced line.
What's the original line?
@@oriontigley5089 China's on the dark side of the moon
I believe it is from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, "I'd rather be a dog and bay the moon, than such a Roman"

@@nlald I was at home, consuming pottage of mutton and cabbage when I heard the black summer dropp'd, I bowed my head and praised the lord for such a blessing.
Bad idea - the song is ABOUT wildfires
"Waiting for another black summer to end" would be especially relatable during the plague.
So beautiful, and the lyrics well chosen. "My thyme is choked with rue" hits extra-hard if you're only listening.
That was s stand-out line for me, too. If Ib were the embroidering type, I ‘d make s pillow out of it.
Love the Red Hot Chilli Pepper plant in the artwork 😅

It’s largely looneys lighting fires so they can claim it’s ’climate change’.
I believe this whole song was inspired by the California wildfires a few years back.
