John, great shave as always and awesome reviews. Thanks for the shout out😊👊 I do not have course hair and my neck is slightly sensitive so you are right in that my take on the Lone Star is different. I still love to shave daily and 3 passes. It's my daily Zen moment😂
@indyshaver yes I did! I asked Steve if he had any more. He is out. I’ll have to keep and eye out for a used one. I bet it’s a perfect OC. These razors are very very good 👍
Thanks for the comparison! I've been curious how the Shave Dad compared to the Lonestar. I own the Lonestar, and it's my favorite razor, hands down. I almost bought the Shave Dad but feared it would be a duplicate. I didn't realize the gap difference. I am on the list for the Cape Cod, looking forward to that one with the open comb!
@jeffdenker145 I was also unaware of the lone star gap until I talked to Bary about it. I assumed they were the same razor just color differences. The shave dad OC is the one I’ll keep my eyes out for.
@@Stubblemeetssteel My Syntesi SS and Shield DE Cerakote are still en route but otherwise I think I'm done for this year. Might get a Karve in AL in the New Year but gonna wait and see if they open up Overlander again. Thank you! Happy Holidays to you and yours! 🎉
Hi, nice for you to offer Alpha Ali head to head. Great stuff….would be interested to see Alpha sd vs Karve bison with Gillette sharpedge yellow blades. Also…how do you find filoso compared to G sharpedge yellows? Many thx for the informative info your sharing with the community👌
@shannonmontey I’ve come to realize the sharpedge blades sometimes irritate me. The filoso are not as sharp but smoother and don’t irritate me. I can compare those 2 razors but I feel I already know the outcome if you just want the answer 🤣
@ thx for blade info. Yer just the answer of razor comparison is fine? Also have you tried Kai In Overlander? Would be hoping increased blade feel. My preferred set up in overlander is feather with a vintage Gillette thin blade edge trimmed for shim.
Great comparison. Since the Lone Star has a larger blade gap and a bit more efficiency, what efficiency do you think it compares to ? is it close to the Bayonetta or Rocca (but with less blade feel) ? Also, do you know if that new razor made for your friend who wants to honor his military service will be available for sale ? What's his channel ? (sorry for the many questions but I have multiple family members in the military who would love that sort of thing).
@saguarosmart4100 thank you for this message. I meant to link his channel in the video info & forgot. I will do that now. His channel is cape cod shaving. If you go on alphashaving.com on the main page he has a “cape cod” link but I appologize in advance. I just looked at the “sign up” seems done IE all razors have been called dibs on. However with both the shave dad & lone star they had a few left when they were produced and ready. Guys didn’t pay or change their mind etc. I’ll keep and eye out for you. I would email alpha and tell him to let you know if anyone cancels etc. That’s how I got the shave dad. My buddy canceled so I took his place.
@saguraosmart4100 sorry I forgot your other question 🤣 I just got a Rocca. It’s smoother then the bayonetta too me. As far as compared to the lone star hmm I would say it’s very close but the lone star is probably more forgiving, easy to get bbs with less risk. Depends what you prefer. The rocca is really really good if you like smoother medium aggressive class razors.
@@Stubblemeetssteel No worries, no need to apologize, I appreciate it very much ! I looked it up, it looks really nice. I might email alpha about it just in case someone gets cold feet.
Hi, I hope you're doing well. I'm really interested to know which razor blades are your favorites. I'm looking to try something new and would love to hear your recommendations. Thanks a lot!
@m.h.3950 I’m considering doing a blade comparison series. Use 2 of the same razors but with different blade in each. What do you think? For some fun suggestions try Bic Astor, filoso, Willy, 7amsharp, Gillette 7 oclock green. What have you tried? Happy Holidays & thanks for watching.
@@Stubblemeetssteel I really appreciate your reply. That's a great idea! When I began the journey, I bought a variety pack, so I’ve tried quite a few. I really like Personna Comfort Coated, Bic Chrome Platinum, Kai and Treet Platinums (they don’t work well in all razors, though. Happy Holidays!
@m.h3950 my pleasure to help. Those are good blades that you have tried. If you are in the USA email me at my channel name @ g mail dot com. I’ll send you some blades to try.
I don't know if you have seen it yet but the new shave nation razor looks a lot like a lone star razor with one side open comb and one side close comb. Not sure if it's the 70mm or 90mm gap but the handle shape looks exactly like the lone star. This is all speculation from me from the looks of the razor I don't even know if it actually is made by Alpha shaving.
@saguarosmart4100 Yes someone else brought it to my attention. I’m unsure what gap he went with. It is an alpha razor. I bought a Fatip off him when I got into the hobby & had blade alignment issues. I emailed and left him 2 voicemails & never got any replies so I personally refuse to use him or promote him. In today’s age customer service that bad is unacceptable.
@@Stubblemeetssteel I have no experience with them but good to know. Sorry you had that experience, that's disappointing. Now you got me really interested in the 90mm. I emailed alpha about the potential cape cod leftovers we shall see. I'd really love to snag a lone star too. Actually even a DC in 90mm could be cool if they ever make one.
On the subject of Nag Champa, have you tried Denton Majik’s Aaraam Karana? It’s Nag Champa and patchouli with dragons blood and Sandlewood, really nice. Let me know if you’d like to try it and I’ll send you a sample.
@indyshaver that sounds fantastic. I think I saw that on TRC but it was gone before I could try it. I’d love to try it. Thank you. You can email me at my channel name at G mail dot com. If I put it here it will get erased.

@samhillanbrand6291 3 pass shave is my zen part of the day as well! Thanks for the razor loan Sam.
@Stubblemeetssteel Anytime🙂👊
Nice comparative shave John
@okiedokie_cool thanks! I’ve been enjoying your SOTD pics on IG. Makes me always say “I should do this” 🤣🤣
I have both and get phenomenal shaves from them! There’s an open comb available for the Shave Dad razor which IMO increases efficiency even more!

I would love to buy one of the Lone Star razors.
@petekadenz9465 I’ll keep an eye out for a used one for you. Or if they do another run.
Always a great and helpful review, thanks!
@rgsudusky thanks! Can’t wait to hear how u like the green cult.
