- Today's episode is a review and update of Pafcal. It's been roughly 4 months since my last Pafcal video and in this episode I look at the original plants from that video and a more recent emergency case (my Rhaphidophora pertusa). I did say that Pafcal was all sorts of promising and now I can say it truly is good stuff! Check out my video to see the glow-ups yourselves!
PLANTS FEATURED
1. Yellow variegated Monstera deliciosa, small form (Monstera aurea)
2. Variegated Scindapsus treubii
3. Scindapsus 'Mayari'

I'm trying to use Pafcal to start some Hoya cuttings. My containers have a water reservoir, so I could have the bottom inch of Pafcal sit in water. I've done that with Leca, so the Leca can wick up water. Would that work with Pafcal, or would it be too wet? Any experience? Thanks!
I'm wondering if you grow a plant in Pascal and want it to climb up a pole, what do you fill the pole with?
🤩 Fool proof PAFCAL!
PAFCAL FTW!
I'd love a 1 year update! I've started using PAFCAL and my applanatum rooted quite quickly - very impressed. Any cons or things we should be aware of?
You know, I keep waiting for something bad to happen, but the only negative I can see on my end is the price 😂 (we need to import it).
And thanks for the suggestion--It is about time for a 1-year update :D
I'm always interested in new growing media / technology as well. Pafcal texture reminds me a bit of those sponges that come with aerogarden. The first time I saw pafcal was on MamaQueen Houseplant youtube channel too! I ordered some out of curiosity. I did plant a very small pink princess in it and it was relatively successful. I did try it for raphidophora decursiva which is a very reluctant rooter and that silly plant still didn't make roots. I'm anxious to try it on some other plants now.
At present time I have a Monstera Obliqua runner in pafcal, that is just sitting there, doing nothing. I guess sitting there doing nothing is better than sitting there and dying, but after the success with the other plants, I was hoping for more.
@@TastefulNodes I can relate to this "doing nothing is better than dying". :-)
Hi! Do you have any thoughts on if Anthuriums would like pafcal? The few anthuriums I have definitely like a really airy mix, so it seems that it would work well?🤷💚
Like you observed, my Anthuriums prefer airy mixes too! I don't have any in Pafcal yet, but it is worth trying! :) Will make an Instagram post to keep track of this experiment.
I think Pafcal used in a pot with drainage would probably work out the best because it would prevent the possibility of root rot in too-wet pafcal (in a pot without drainage).
hope they work for ecuadorian imports for acclimating purposes 🙏
Gosh, I hope so too! It's so hard to acclimate them when they don't arrive in great condition. 😪 Please keep me posted--I'm interested in finding out more!
I love your Disclaimer, still... didn't pay my rent 😀
Hahahah Oh no!!! The disclaimers are in place because of plant prices here--it wasn't just temperatures that were reaching fever pitch here in the Philippines 😅
Shall I plant a holy basil in pafcal? Does it work?
HHAHAHAHA Is this a pop quiz? 🤣 But seriously, please don't plant holy basil in Pafcal...yet. According to Midorie Singapore:
"Do not use pafcal to grow edible plants (i.e. herbs and vegetables). It is non-toxic, but the product is not yet certified safe for food."
But don't worry, the thought (growing veggies) crossed my mind initially as well. :)
How do you fertilize?
I actually haven't yet! I. know some people who do--both liquid and solid ferts, but not at the same time. It should be noted that Midorie does say that Pafcal does not need fertilizers and based on the size of my plants, I *suspect* they might have something already in it.
