BMW used a plastic part to avoid noise during operation, you will hear noise with a new metal one. Thank you for video

Mine is broken in the fully retracted position. Because of the seat lift mechanism, the thigh support extension motor can’t be removed unless the support rails are fully extended. Any idea how to get them extended manually?

Homerraas thanks a lot! Just used your video to do the passenger seat in my e61. Hardest part was removing/installing (without braking it) of the upper front panel of the seat. On the inner side there’s a metal clip like in the video but on the outer side the e60/e61 panel has a plastic pin and 2 small slits which hook up with 2 pins on the chair. They are right on the outer front edge of the chair. The rest is exactly the same as in the video!

Use realoem.com to find the BMW part number and look it up by that. It was 52107068045 on my model.

Don't buy the cheap gears on ebay. I did and the fit isn't great. I couldn't close the gear box all the way or the motor wouldn't turn. Go ahead and get the brass gear. It's twice as much but why do all that work for something that is noisy and doesn't fit right.
