Mary Jane doesn't love Peter *in spite of* Spider-Man. Mary Jane doesn't love Peter *because of* Spider-Man. Mary Jane loves Peter *for the good qualities that make him* Spider-Man.
I totally agree with you! One of the great things about MJ is that she shares a connection with Peter even without being a superhero herself. They both have their own strengths and flaws, and their relationship is built on understanding and support. It's nice to see that they can relate to each other on a personal level, beyond just the superhero stuff. It adds depth and relatability to their dynamic.
Absolutely agree with everything. In my head he's still 32, married with MJ living in a manhattan brownstone. They've had it rough. But they've done well for themselves. Pete's quit the Avengers and they're thinking about having a kid named after loved ones past. _That won't get murdered by Norman Osborn because that's just_ *unecessarily perverted* *_and just what are they wearing costumes FOR ANYWAY?_*
@@sammysstopmotionoas1996 I'm aware of it. That's really after the "end" if you ask me. I just want the strazcynski run without Spider-Gods and retcons.

People who refuse to see characters grow and change do not understand that characters must change in order to stay fresh and relevant. Batman and Superman both became fathers but retained their core values and themes, Luke Skywalker became what his father could have been if Anakin stayed on the light path and had not succumed to the Dark Side, Thor wanted to be a warrior king like his father but after being sent to Earth and humbled, he realized the truth of what it meant to be a leader and a hero. Magneto was once a hateful and vengeful bigot, but over time became more accepting of mutants and even took over for Xavier. People who don't want these characters to change don't want characters, they want mascots.

I feel like marvel is just trying to make us hate MJ due to the recent comics and movies we’ve gotten, luckily the new Ultimate Spider-Man comic run that gave a better adaptation MJ we’ve been waiting for
That's just BND writers doing the BND thing where the marriage is the embodiment of all evil so MJ has to be written out but has to remain around for eternal drama. The moment a non-BND writer takes the character they pair them again because everyone else knows that obvious fact.
There are writters that should be kept away from Mary Jane. What other writter and director that ain't Raimi or Wells should never do Spider Man stuff???
Tbh I still love Mary Jane and think she is Peter’s best love interest. However, I can’t stand the character assassination of this character in the recent run. Because, just as it looked her and Peter were finally getting back together for good, they ruin in one of the worst writing decisions of all time.
She’s the best written love interest in comics and one of the best written female characters in comics too. Sucks that adaptations have given her a bad rep and made people misunderstand her
I can't cosign this enough. MJ was ten toes down for Peter when he needed her, and he was the same for her. They had their problems, but they worked through it. One More Damn Day aside...
Man, I had no idea about that one shot. That honestly makes their relationship that much sweeter. Why the heck haven't they made an adaptation with that in mind? Much as I loved the Raimi movies, in retrospect, they did MJ dirty.
I hope we can get a decent adaptation of 616 MJ one day. The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series got the closest to it, but the show was sadly short-lived. I fell in love with Peter and Mary-Jane as a married couple while reading the Spider-Girl comics. I don't even really care about the new Amazing Spider-Man runs. I just follow the canon where Peter is in a happy marriage with MJ and passing the torch. Let them be happy, they deserve it. (And 616 Gwen became a more interesting character when she died. No diss on her, the Amazing Spider-Man's love-interest cast was always fairly good. But truth is I remember more about Betty Brant's, Felicia Hardy's and Mary Jane's backstories and character moments than Gwen's.)
2:05 and this is the Raimi idea which no doubt influence the Zeb Wells run and the Misconception of Norman Osborn as I kinda think that Raimi influence has done a lot of harm to Spider-Man in the long as everyone thinks that’s the case as Stan Lee originally planned Peter to be married to Gwen but the reason why she was killed off because she had no personality as MJ had
Is there an adaptation that portrays MJ's party girl persona being a facade? I'm all in for expanding MJ as a character beyond her relationship with Peter. But there are better ways to do it than giving her powers.
If you take comments made by greg weisman it seems that was the actual plan with ssm MJ (which explains some comments about peter). But yes this is a great aspect of mj, especially funny considering it was thought of by someone that expressly didn't want to pair peter and mj but did this to justify why they couldn't get paired up.
Nick Lowe execitive director at marvel is personnally waging war at the amazing spider-man readers and fans. He will not allow them to get them back togheter because that would make the readers and fans feel entitled. Also they feel a grown up spider-man would not give better stories.
I think sam raimi’s spiderman helped to change the perception as I have made a video on my channel talking about mj in those movies and the comments thought I was talking about her in the comics but I wasn’t
The Raimi movies and the modern comics give people the wrong idea about MJ, and it's so stupid. Look at the Ultimate Universe. Look at the new Ultimate Universe. Look at the 616 comics pre-One More Day. Look at Insomniac's take. It works, and people who think she's a terrible partner haven't dont their research.

Really refreshing to see non blatantly sexist video on the character.
With such a monotone voice
Yeah, I’m tired of people giving toxic takes on the character.
