- I haven't done Whisperer since Blorva so this was a little rusty but a fun challenge nonetheless. Whisperer is one of the DT2 bosses I find hard to swallow because it feels SO slow without Shadow. It reminds me of Phosani's with how many unnecessary phases it has to pad the content. I was hoping for a bigger difference between my choice of gear for the budget vs the wiki's recommendation (Phosani's and my ToA 500 had EXTREME differences). Every day the Wiki never ceases to amaze me with the weird and misleading information
I'll probably be doing these at least once a day or so LIVE on Twitch/KICK every day, so catch me there, but if not, you'll find them here in a day or two.
I think next up I am going to do DUKE, and the rest of the DT2 bosses.

Doing DT2 AND having a 99 before doing MA1 is some serious dedication to avoiding the wilderness lol.
HCIM maybe. Also gnomonkey desperately pretending Ironmen don’t exist and you can just buy the actual BiS for every slot so why don’t you
HCIM avoiding MA1 makes sense. (Even though it’s a bit of a cope as it’s trivially easy to escape if you get attacked there and it has such low requirements it’s not much time lost if you do get pk’d). That same HCIM doing DT2 AND killing the post-quest versions before doing Barrows, RFD, Fremennik Trials, getting a glory, and only getting half of the MTA items does not
@@adamwoolston253 I think the confusion Gnome is having is that its not supposed to be the "minimum" setup, its a potential next in line replacement in each of those slots. the odds of them having none of those upgrades is basically impossible, so gnome acting like the right side of each slot is what the wiki is actually recommending feels disingenuous, hence what people have been commenting on. its a fun series but it feels a little tone deaf of the guy with max infernal and blood torva not getting why players cant just buy best in slot for each boss

If i had to guess, the wiki takes hardcores who don't want to go into the wildy into account. Which would make sense for the ward and the mage cape. but for the amulet slot, i got nothing
tbf some of these downgrades like no barrows gloves are necessary for 1def accounts (which can unlock dt2)
amulet of power is crazy tho LOL
We are all just having a bit of fun here. But I don't think the downgrade suggestions are aimed at lvl 1 defense pures when infinity is still on the table. xD
@@iitalics Not really that crazy - most ironmen will use an amulet of power into the 100s of CB levels because getting 80 crafting takes tons of time.
Uims wear some actually nutty stuff have you even seen half these maxed uims running around in poverty gear

This boss is horrendous. Took me 4:30 for the post-quest version with the trident of the swamp and Ahrims. Respect for this clunky gear

To be fair if I am deciding between +6 mage bonus on a farseer and + 5 prayer on a mitre, I'm taking the mitre every time.
More dps = Less prayer used
+6 magic bonus is not doing enough DPS to make more of a difference than +5 prayer bonus lmao.
Fucking +90 magic bonus and +15 max hits wasn’t even making the kill more than 25% faster.
But bigger number = more better
Dude genuinely wonders why people say he’s out of touch with the game.
Enjoy your one tick saved every 15 kills while champ over here is saving 2 prayer doses per kill.

Wtf dude a prayer mitre has +4 magic attack and +5 prayer bonus lmao its just objectively better than even the +6 magic attack ahrims hood. Wiki gear guides crack me up.
I think I'd value the attack bonus more, even as an iron. Dps is king and accuracy does matter at whisp

Never watched one of your videos before but since I came across this series I’ve been hooked, keep up the good work bro. You’re a beast
GearScape confirmed to me I was already using my best possible gear and my whisperer pb is 3:14, but avg kill time is around 3:45-4:00. Can confirm it just sucks until shadow.
My setup is trident of the swamp, virtus mask+robe bottoms, ahrim's top, occult, tormented, brimstone boots+ring, book of darkness, imbued god cape.
Also using forgotten brews, thralls, mystic might and seercull spec with broad arrows.
I wouldn't have bothered with this boss before shadow but I have 2/4 soulreaper axe pieces (those from duke and vard) and i'm 970 levi kc no lure looking to mix things up... The sunken cost goes deep.
honestly if nothing this makes me feel a lot better about doing DT2 on my shitty-geared UIM soon
I have done it with undead grasp and a slayer staff, totally fine
I did it with Book of Darkness and not seeing it even as the lowest option hurt me
I think I'm insane then, I'm a main who was an iron and is still playing as an iron working on the last couple skill reqs for dt2 and have an amulet of power, a warped sceptre, ahrims top and bottom usually just wear the fremi helm for prayer bonus running around with mannacles cause i got no mage boots but plenty of swag, no god cape but I do have an elidinis ward though.
I'll get it done though. Fang/zombie axe should help alot with fatty and skinny, and I think my best range weapon for Leviathan will be the atlatl or the sunlight hunter crossbow not sure which is better.
My problem with Whisperer is, and I’m not sure if it’s the environment or the boss itself, I just experience extreme latency issues with it. Like I don’t play on max graphics or anything like that and every other boss/activity is fine, including leviathan, just for some reason Whisperer doesn’t work well
I actually have DT2 and don’t have barrows gloves on my bronze man account. I’m waiting for 93 slayer before doing Dragon Slayer so I only have like rune gloves lol
Mitre is for pures I think, and some items are inefficient to get for ironmen before going for dt2. that being said nothing tells you so and it's a bit silly. Cape of accomplishment I can understand since it's at least some defense/prayer if there's nothing to help dps. Some options just don't help at all though, that veracs skirt at phosani's was pretty funny
I don't usually watch gnomonkey but this might be my new favorite osrs based series. Please do all the bosses 😂 I'm a noob and I base alot of my gear decisions on the Wiki gear section but I guess I'll have to start thinking for myself now , ugh exhausting
you should make a muspah video. with all your knowledge of switches and gear it would be very interesting to see you test all different methods from bowfa only to a 5way switch or 7 way switches.

the wiki doesn't know how to factor in the moon armor. try eclipse atlatl at leviathan when you get to that boss for this series. great idea for a series though! been loving the videos.
I think the wiki table is ordered in order of how easy the stuff is to obtain on an iron rather than gp cost for mains. Still, it does not justify some of the dogshit items that people choose to list there though.
I think not having BIS stops plenty of people from trying content. I’ve never done any boss with BIS.
Wiki downgrades are all over the place. Desert Treasure 2 requires 75 magic to do at all (So Occult/Trident/MA Capes), so unless you're an iron I fail to see how most of those downgrades are relevant to begin with. Even if you're an iron, some of them are strange choices as well if you consider time to obtain. My personal favorite is the skillcape in the cape slot (presumably for the prayer bonus) when even an Ardy cape 2 gives the same prayer bonus and has a +4 magic attack bonus. Still completely silly overall since god capes are just better and easier to get (unless maybe if you're a hardcore). Gear section absolutely needs work.

Accursed scepter has a glitch that pulls you to melee distance when using special….
I hope they never fix the equipment downgrades so this series can last forever

The downgrade to more expensive gear is one of my favorite “wiki moments”, that and having 2k gp gear like red d hide and amulet of power for late/endgame boss reqs as downgrades instead of just “get better gear”

Mitre does have magic attack bonus. Magic Amulet is better than power or glory
The TTKs also don't include the extra enrage HP
After rebalance it'll be a 6 minute kill with 9m rofl

Mages book takes like 15 hours, huge opportunity cost. You can easily make enough money to cover deaths and get the ward on iron. In reality neither should be on there tbh, just use book of the dead
Just did dt2 on my hc with mystics, warped sceptre, and magic amulet so kinda possible 😂
2:26 I believe that "stuck in place" interaction is a combat dummy interaction rather than it being specific to the weapon
A lot of the wiki is also like- only use this item with this thing *2 etc. But this is a good way to show people that you don't have to have bis. You can do it, just keep trying!

Basically any NPC that has a ranged attack can also melee diagonally

power ammy kinda(?) makes sense, im an im and for the longest time i hated doing hunter, so i did my first toa raids with a power ammy, but yeah, it is increadibly silly to have that on the chart(other things are irredeemable ngl)
You dont do hunter for a glory, you just get the crafting level. Dragon imps are actually terrible to hunt if youre not a content creator that gets free scouts and you need crafting for zenytes anyways
@@XxSupaBAMxX 2nd that on an iron account you should just passively get giant seaweed. If you’re vigilant about doing it along with herb runs and birdhouses you should never have a problem to get crafting since you’re going to unlock lunars on your account at some point and just have it banked. Glory doesn’t halt your progression and it’s really small boost to an account at the time you get it. It’s a great stepping stone item don’t get me wrong, but the crafting level is much more valuable than an early glory

Nah you'd offhand book of the dead and just use farseer helm. Both much faster to get than mage book and mitre

Can you do a vid on gearscape? I get some weird recommendations, mainly mixed hide even though putting on something like bandos instead will give more dps (and still in my budget) can anyone explain to me why? (Im dumb)
Mixed hide gives stab bonus and high defenses for all styles
@@GnomonkeyRS Appreciate the reply. So does it take into consideration defense bonuses even if it will lose some dps? If I go to the DPS calc and replace a mixed hide top for example with bcp I will get more dps which is why I am confused (it is very possible I am just doin something wrong)
Recommendations are bugged sometimes, In some cases I got worse dps by inputting higher budget
