The Taiwanese sausage stall, she asked if you wanted the sticky rice (sausage) with it. That’s the famous street food in Taiwan. They put the Taiwanese sausage inside the sticky rice sausage ( so sausage inside sausage). A must try when you are in Taiwan.
I first ate that since I was in college
It was very popular, now I’m 65, living in NY, every time, if we visit Taipei, we will have them together with our children, grandchildren…!!!
Best wishes, Taiwan is a wonderful country!
just noticed you paid 135 for that sausage ? Yes overpriced… on the sign it said for the Taiwanese sausage inside the sticky rice sausage is only 65 …. She probably meant 1 x 35 bucks.. shame on her if she didn’t give you extra money back
HAHA !!ONE for NT35 NOT 135@@TaiOzWanderer
oh....you overpriced.... she is dishonest😡
Obvious she meant 'for 1 piece - 35 tw dollars'. You didn't wait for her to return you the change.
The sausage you bought is 35 NTD. I think she said 1 is 35 but you probably gave her 135 NTD, therefore she scammed you because she thinks you don't know about the price.
If Taiwanese people sees this happening to a foreigner, a lot of Taiwanese will not go to this stalls, they will go out of business soon.
I believe he got the correct change back. No worries. I believe the vendor was honest.
Nope, he clearly said in the video he paid 135 and thought it was kind of high. I live in Taipei and there are cheaters and scammers especially toward unsuspected foreigners@@wo7427
@@wo7427 true
It's very rare for a street vendor in Taiwan to scam you. I suspect he gave her 500 or 1000 and she gave him the proper change but he didn't count it.
Taiwanese are generally honest but once in a while there might be a bad apple...
We're planning a trip to Taiwan & Japan and this is your second video I watch.
Wow!!!
Really love your style!! It's super raw, if I can say.
I love that you don't seem to have a script, as too many UA-camrs do.
I feel like you're more real than many other travelers UA-camrs!
Just subscribed to your channel!
You missed the whole incredible food court on the lower level in Taipei 101!!
Thanks for taking me on a trip down memory lane. Really enjoy the video so.much so that I subscribed. Taipei city hall /101 area was my stomping grounds from 1998 to 2002. Back then they were still building 101 and it was called Warner village. Now I think Vieshow cinemas. And I remember bumping into Tom Cruise when he was promoting Mi2. Cheers 🍺🍻
Awesome video 😊 nice vlog 🔥
Out of curiosity, I googled and found one report that the medium went to the sausage vendor to check the price. It is one sausage for NT$35. The boss went got the woman who made the sale to you. She definitely was sure she charged you $35, not $135. She also told the reporter, if it’s $135, she would have said “one hundred thirty five.” The reporter said but you mentioned in your film that you paid $135 and showed her that part of your video. The saleswoman then said she noticed you are a UA-camr and your camera was facing down, thus the paying process wasn’t recorded.
Anyway, either you remembered wrong or she was lying. It’s just became a two-sided story. However, the reporter also noticed that the vendor didn’t mark the price of one sausage on their menu board but only the price of a set of sausages, the one set that the saleswoman was pointing at in your video. And, the vendor was required to improve on that count.
I hope you still had a nice experience for the rest of your travel in Taiwan.
You made it across half of the street full of department stores in Xinyi district, try going at night, when it's more beautiful with lights on and there's a really cool mac shaped apple store in the other half of the street.
Still loving your videos-- haven't been to TP 101 in months or Shilin night market in years
Taipei looks like a lot of fun with good food too!
The guy helping you purchase the MRT ticket sounds Japanese. I don’t know if you can tell by his accent. That’s why when you said jiantan he was like huh and he said he wasn’t familiar with the area.
I am sorry about the sausage stall, hope you enjoy the other days in Taiwan.
It’s always easier and more efficient to ask someone to get to the place you want to go and do the thing you want to do. In Taipei , almost all young people can speak a little English. And people are helpful.
The lady at the sausage stall owes you - and everyone who watches this video - an explanation, even an apology, for the price she charged you for one single Taiwanese sausage. The sliver lining on this incident is, it surely will have a place in your memory bank as the priciest ordinary Taiwanese sausage ever ..... 😅
Can't believe James Harden is in Taipei. Will be flying there next week maybe I see him
It was over a week ago so I’m sure he left but yeah I was pretty surprised!
Who is James Harden?

Ya! It was confused of what she wants. Even when I came visit my country, I tend to go to one that have the price label. For shopping, it is good to go around and see what is the standard price for certain thing and then start to negotiable. I like the second place with price and menu listed out on table. Pretty nice.
Nice to see the market busy , compared to March 2020 :-)
Did you not go up 101 ?
the moment u ate stinky tofu is so funny. at first, it tasted good, however, after bite....hahaha, no wonder many foreigners could not accept this. there are still a lot of good food here u can try!!! welcocme to Taiwan.
Several decades ago, shi-lin grand sausage was once quite famous and not really cheap then.
The proportion of fat and meat, different from other types, plays a key role. Many locals would not choose it when we really want to have sausage.
Xinmenting is the old part of Taipei.
The district was already popular more than 100 years built by Japanese with all the shops and the theartres.
"Ting" is the Mandarin pronunciation of a Japanese term machi/cho for district.
Xinyi is the newest part of Taipei built in 1980s.
Go Zane Go Keep it Going 👌✌️👍👍👍👍💕🇺🇸
Nice video! I miss taiwan. At least you tried the stinky tofu. Lol
I think the girl meant to say "one is 35," but she didn't correct you when you misunderstood. Shame on her.
Btw, you should try it with the rice sausage. It is basically Taiwanese hot dog (pork sausage sandwiched in sliced open rice sausage). And that stall sells it for 65. So sausage alone should definitely be cheaper, not more expensive.
Yes, shame on her ! What a terrible person! 😠
That was terrible.135 dollars can almost buy 4 sticks sausage
Божеее это такое чудесное место 🇹🇼 ❤
The lady knows how to pour beer 🍺 correctly. She’s a keeper.
First time I watch a travel vlog about Taipei, pretty cool to see the tourists' perspective!
Shilin is definitely overpriced in general, that's why a lot of locals prefer Raohe night market!
I almost laughed my head off on your response to eating stinky tofu😅. The sour cabbages are kimchi, which have a lot of probiotics.
Don't miss out the big taiwanese fried chicken, it's really gooooood~
士林夜市空氣不好。我是走路走一走就會想離開。😅😅😅Hope people will treat you nice. Welcome to Taiwan.😊😊😊
Lol, you are courageous to try the tofu- I can’t eat something that smells bad, or that has questionable ingredients. I admire your grit. Sorry you got scammed by the sausage lady. 😊
Your vlos are so nice
lol🤣🤣🤣 I can’t stop laughing when you described the stinky tofu taste like a smelly shoe 🤣🤣🤣🤣 It does like smelly shoe but also tastes good for me 🤪 btw really like your videos!
Taipei is great and has good vibe. ❤ But the food is not as cheap. I think cost of living there may not be as low. ❤👍Anyway, great video 😊Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work 😊😇❤💪👍👏
As low as where, may I ask?
It depends. Taipei’s real estate is expensive so rent isn’t cheap but other cities are a lot more affordable. As far as food is concerned, you can get full with good quality food economically if you know where to look. Night market is the best place to go. Friendly local neighborhood casual restaurants are also very affordable. But if you go to a more formal restaurant or specialty restaurant or high end buffet then it can be comparable to what you pay in say California. But even the most high end and expensive buffet in Taipei 101, it’s only about $130 per person, still probably cheaper than say the buffet at Cesar’s Palace in Vegas.
@@mariposabay4006 other SE Asian countries. I think Thailand and Vietnam will be cheaper. 😇

I miss the night market in Taiwan.
Welcome to Raohe Night Market ,Tips from Taipei people
Red Line goes to Shiling Night Market bro
❤👍
wow, I've been there and i'm very familiar with TW but looking at it from your video the layout feels like cyberpunk 2077 for some reason.
for the sausage, I'm pretty sure she meant NTD$35 for 1 sausage instead of NTD$135, that's around 1.2 USD. Many people aren't fluent in English, so it might be confusing if saying keywords only
Taiwan beer 18 days is my favorite beer! so great! I have to recommend it.
Didn't head up to the top of 101?
Shilin Market has really went downhill, it is so sad to see them ripping people off, I haven't been there for years now, there are much better night markets in the city. A shame as Shilin used to be one of the best.
I'm sure it was just a missunderstanding. She charged him "One for $35" not "$135". It is regular custom for Taiwanese vendors to say the unit number before the actual price, like "one for $35", "two for $70" etc.
Oh wow, when I left Taiwan like a year ago, the Hot Star fried chicken was 75nt, interesting to see it jumped to 90nt. Prices seemed to have jumped there like everywhere else. :\
Reminds me of Hong Kong but less "raw"
Zane she got u for that sausage. They tries that price gouging here in the US as well. It never works here.
Bruhhh, the Mass Rapid Transit system/screen has English mode and prob 10 other languages~ You came across it twice when buying your ticket to the night market. 😅
Don’t misunderstand . The vendor told you “one , 35 dollars”. What she meant is “one sausage $35”. She didn’t mean to cheat you. Maybe it’s you to misunderstand her.
Yea but she took his money, the entire 135. Did you watch the video? He said 135 was kind of high for 1 sausage. I live in Taipei and there are scammers and cheaters. You need to stay vigilant.
@@dennischen8887 You don't actually see the exchange of money. She may have given him the proper change and he didn't count it.

Wait, did the girl charge you NTD135? I think she meant one sausage, 35 dollars. Did she take 135 from you?
Yup...I am curious about that as well. NT135 is way pricey.
There must be some misunderstanding.😅
It shouldn't be 135 NTD!!!!!!!! 25~50 is ok.
若真收了135,那她太丟臉了。
that's what i thought, she meant 1 sausage for NTD35.
I paid 135 😅
香腸一支能賣到NT 135 ?! 這在哪家的攤販? A piece of sausage can be sold for NT 135, which is too expensive! Where is the place?
you should get a "easy card" and charge some money, then you just enter/get out the metro by touching easy card.
One sausage N$35 is reasonable, so I guess she meant one pc $35. However, she should return $100 to you. 😕
Did you paid 135 for the sausage? I think that lady was saying 1 sausage for 35 NTD LOL
Thank you for showing us Taipei 101 , now I have ideas of what it’s like. Taipei 101 is just like many modern malls in big cities around the world -- modern malls in Dubai and Taipei 101 all about the same .
You are so right. I find malls like this dull and empty. I live here and will never recommend it
Taiwan celebrities are also celebrities in China most of the time.
I'm a Taiwanese and i don't like stinky tofu either.😂
Another one here. Tried it 30 years ago when I was still living in Taiwan. Tried it again when visited Twauan this past March and stii can't eat it.😂
I dont mind the mall walks; but stop chomping and eating ur foods on camera, a second here and there is okay after that I have to turn u off; its like sometimes its ur first time ever eating out lol (dont take it personal its ur show and u can do whatever u want) ur a good talker which is awesome and very honest and genuine
You need to eat the pickled vegetables with the stinky tofu in the same bite.
Shame on the sausage girl 20:21.
That’s why I always cannot recommend Shilin night market especially for tourists. Sorry for you to experience the worst part of Taiwan. After bad thing, there is always good things coming. Hope you still keep enjoy the trip :)
記者去採訪了店家,店家說只收了35元,誰在說謊??
In my opinion, the sausage costs 35NTD, based on what the woman says in the video. I don’t know the story behind the camera or the real interaction. But chinese language is a topic and comment language, so for those people who dont speak fluent English, they use the same logic, as speaking chinese.
In English, the sausage is (costs) 35NTD.
But in Chinese, literal translation is zhe zhi xiangchang sanshiwu kuai ( This stick of sausage, 35NTD). There is no verb in Chinese in this sentence.
It’s the same logic as
In English, is this tasty?
In Chinese, zhege haochi ma? (This, tasty?) “ma” is a character for placing in the end of a sentence to form a question.
So the woman says in the video.
One, thirty five. For me, she is just using the Chinese logic when she speaks English.
No way a taiwanese sausage can cost $4 USD. Should be $1 USD. I believe what she meant was one "for" $35 Taiwanese dollar ($1 USD).
14:30 the guy help out buying ticket seems like a Japanese due to his accent.
i think she was saying 1 for $35!
Overpaid for the sausage.
Those are NOT soup dumplings.
*Little streamed buns. *And yes those are freaking awesome.
Xinyi district has the most mall in the world (dense wise), about 20 something malls within a few blocks.
By the way, it's not 'She She' for thank you, it's more like an 'eh' sound. Sh'eh' Sh'eh'. :) Hope that helps.
20:12 被坑了 135已經是一個大腸包小腸+一個香腸了吧
Sausage for 135 is a robbery. The next shop sign at time 21:32 shows sausage combo 65 and roasted squid for 120, which Zane thought the price 120 is the sausage. So I’m pretty sure maybe the sausage girl initially said one 35 but then when she received 135 she decided not return the money to him. Or she meant 135 in the beginning to lie and make more money from the foreigner who doesn’t know the language
welcome to Taiwan bro, that sausage cost $35 only, did u get back ur money $100?
What??? James Harden was in Taipei??? NO news covered it in Taiwan at all....

20:10 I know that girl. She was my colleague, and I don't believe she did that.
There's one thing that made you misunderstand. She should have said "35 for one" rather than "one thirty-five".
I wonder if you really paid $135 for a sausage 🤷♂️
I think I can ask her.
The sausage is a ripoff!
She said 35 which is only $1+ for the sausage.
What she meant to say is: 1? $35 meaning 1 for $35.

Why didn't you get a easy go card? Easier to travel! Newbie traveler 😂

Why did you get so worried when you thought there was a political manifestation going on? This is Taiwan, people can speak freely and manifest without problems. I'm not China 😉
