@@ThePurplePeppy I do feel like the Realpolitik move here would be to let them fight and ally the winner; either DM wins and the alliance they've had the entire game continues naturally, or Burgundy wins and allies Danubia for letting him survive to come back into the game. Either outcome would, in my opinion, be good for Spud in the current position.
It's 100% not better if Burgundy prevails for Spud, game mechanically Spud needs 3 or 4 of Burgundy's core states to form Germany. It is inevitable that eventually Burgundy and Danubia will fight each other once the Danubians get close enough to forming Germany. It's better for Spud if the DM wins because it just removes another enemy to forming Germany. I do doubt they will because of the mil tech difference, but he's got a shot.
The Bavaria Series really has had the best buildup all series. The planets are aligning to form kino. Dual-less literacy than the Ottomans-Monarchy v Crazy Burgundy rematch will be something to behold.
Goddamn, I was tense after the last cliffhanger, but glad to see you guys carried the day. Now the diplomacy with Burgundy is going to be really interesting - do you stay aligned? Or was this just a moment of serendipitous cooperation? I’ll admit the DM hasn’t been a useful ally in the slightest, and working with Burgundy + Scandinavia against the Elbians has a lot of promise.
Only concern I'd have that route is that they'd hold lands needed to form Germany, and we'd get something similar to Venice series Danubia, even if Germany is actually formed this time it'd still leave a bit of a bad taste to me after watching how gross Danubia was that game.
Russia completely screwed himself over. Abandoning his old allies and not being able to build good enough relationships with his new allies so that they actually can help him out.
DM being super powerful is generally not that interesting, if they win the first few wars, they easily will overpower scandy and burgundy for the rest of the game
Nusantara here, batavia was a bitch the entire game and thats why i joined, he had most of his troops in europe at the start but he managed to get almost all his stacks back to africa and managed to push me out of the mountains back against the scandi border with his better tech, then dempsey ruled that i couldnt reinforce battles from the neutral territories when batavia attacked so i retreated to the ships and back to the scandi colonies for the rest of the session
Legitimate question, is there any tension in the Asian hugbox? I feel like eventually the long honeymoon is going to end and there will be a gigantic Asian war, but maybe that's just wishful thinking.

honestly no matter what happens im RN rooting out for burgundy with the situation thats going on burgundy has proven to be somewhat competent and resilient player, if burgundy wins over dm you would have a strong ally but there could be conflict of cores but i think you could diplo that through you could also side with dm but i would as you are wait until the war directions and other diplomacy clears out a bit to decide which to support

Im here for the Burgundian comback! Started off as natural enemies, then as a former threat to Spud's ambitions, then a maniacal int'l anarchist only wishing to see the world burn, then the comeback I didnt even know I wanted, and now an ally of the Spud alliance. Slowburning and even genre defining! Pure Cinema.
This campaign is quite interesting because we have some really fluid diplo in europe (which is unusual in these campaign), a pretty competitive america BUT it's probably the most disappointing Asia of all time, gone are the times of 2 chinas trying to kill each other and Japan doing his best to murder both, all we have is the hugbox. Also respect to the DM for wanting another 1vs1 to save his honor, it's not the best move and it will probably fail but it's pretty cool.
If one china dies early, all of asia becomes a hugbox centered around the surviving china. Japan can't do much alone and india allies china to kick the europeans. Also, since the europeans have so few colonies at the start date in this mod, they don't interact with asia until the late mid-game/late-game so asia just plays SimCity in peace until they become a behemoth.
I really hate Asia in these campaigns because its always just them map painting before ruining the campaign in the late game because they have become an unbeatable Titan it really is just dreadfully boring

The use of music in these videos is an underrated aspect. The sudden jarring transition from comfy diplo music to the sudden blaring dramatic sound effect and Asian Hugbox leitmotif around 21:40 got me giggling. Grand as always
I don't know who peaced blocked and who's not, but it would be pretty epic if England would swoop againts the DM on the side of Burgundy. It's a bit of a schadenfreude, but I want to see another DM L, the comeback of the Burgundian Joker was the highlight of this series for me.

If I was in Spud's shoes, I wouldn't intervene in the DM-Burgundy 1v1. Burgundy is too useful for destroying the Elbians and for a potential war with Asia as they have crazy high mil tech. Spud is already making a deal with Scandinavia over German land and giving up a bit more to Burgundy isnt huge, especially if Burgundy can be satisfied with annexing more of France instead. DM as it currently is, is too behind on tech and industry to be a competent alternative for what Burgundy can provide.

This game has had super fluid alliances and cool changing sides in wars. … have you ever played an MP game where deliberately 50% of players get booted of their country and shuffled every session? I’m sure it wouldn’t be a dominant game mode, but it could make MP less stagnant (or maybe every 2 sessions, or you get a 2session grace period after a shuffle or whatever) and you can even justify it roleplay wise with dead kings and leaders and stuff
Only played something like this way back with "Sphere Wars".. but even then that two-parter is from the same session and same country! Only Nurse Reno could bring back gimmick games like that, maybe some day
I would also like to note that the Dzungar player is me at this point, the last Taiping player. So I guess the turn tables turned and made me work with the Asian Hugbox.
