Hey, im mexican and have grown up my whole life eating homemade tortillas and to keep them soft as soon as you cook them put them in a kitchen towel when your done you keep the tortillas in the towel and put them in a ziplock bag and there you go 😊
I agree. I’d add, when you reheating them make sure the heat is very hot. If on medium heat they dry out and crack. Make sure to keep and eye on them so they don’t burn.
Im hispanic, and always struggled with tortillas as an adult until I switched to a recipe that uses butter or lard rather than oil. That was the game changer. Even with plenty of rest time, the recipes that used oil always produced tough dough and tortillas that would break. With the recipe that uses butter or lard, the tortillas are so pliable that I can crumple them up in my hand and they wont break and they reheat for days to the same pliability. The dough even keeps in the fridge for days and remains easy to roll out. Highly recommend using butter/lard rather than the oil.

Hi Delilah, I’ve been a subscriber since you first found out about your third pregnancy. Throughout the years, your videos have brought such a sense of peace, love, and inspiration that I am so grateful for. I am not a mother yet, but I hope to be someday soon. You inspire me to try my best to allow the Lord to guide me in every aspect of life, and my journey to motherhood. The cool thing too, is that I think you’re younger than me? I appreciate your honesty when it comes to struggles you have in your life and walk with God. You show your humanity but also glorify God while being real and honest. Your videos have also inspired me to try to cook from scratch and implement other habits that I’d like to have when it comes to homemaking and taking care of my family and household. Growing up, my mother was always in the kitchen, cooking, baking, and showing her love through meals and treats. She always tried her very best to provide for my brother and I, but also be there for us with her time. You remind me a lot of my mom, and that is the highest compliment I can give you. My mother is a huge blessing in my life. I really admire your boldness in sharing God’s love through your videos! God’s hand really translates through your personality, the way you hold yourself, and your content! I pray that God continues to use you as a vessel to spread the gospel and his love. I pray that he continues to give you courage and strength. May God bless you and your beautiful family! 💕
To keep them soft keep them warm in a towel and then store once cooled 🙂. To keep the burritos closed toast the wrap burrito on a pan with the fold down❤
Thanks for the inspirational video! About the tortilla's: I put them on a plate en cover it with a damp towel, and let that cool. When they are cool, I store them in a zipplock bag. That turns out great every time, even when I store them in the freezer. Good luck!
To answer your question about keeping tortillas soft, I take a pan with water and cover it with a steamer screen that has a handle and steam the tortilla for a few seconds on each side. The tortilla comes out soft and warm and stays that way. In other words, steam your tortillas. I hope this works for you!
Those birds singing in the background in your voiceover were so enjoyable to hear 😌 thanks for all the recipes and your relaxing vibe even though I’m actually watching labour 😅 you are an inspiration
When I make tortillas, I put them between a clean tea towel after cooking them. I just keep putting them in the towel as I finish cooking them and that way they sweat a bit and it keeps them soft. I even store them like that, but juts pop a bag over the tea towel of tortillas, in the fridge. Hope that helps!
Enjoyed this video! Mom to a little one and as much as I loved eating fresh before becoming a mom, cooking has become a lot more challenging since having my son. Great to see some ideas and so relaxing to watch 🩷
Hi! A tip for the tortillas, spread a thin layer of butter/any fat once you take them of the pan, so that they store better and don’t fall apart after some days in the fridge. Saludos desde Argentina! 🇦🇷🤍
For re-heating the tortillas: put them in the microwave with a small bowl of water. Reheat them for 30-45 seconds. The water will create moisture inside and they’ll be as fresh as new 😊
Love these videos! I have slowly started making more things from scratch as the food in stores just doesn't have our health in mind. It's so rewarding eating things that are homemade, not to mention the health benefits and you can control what goes in your system. I make my own tomato sauce, mayo, tortillas , salsa and ALL our meals are made from scratch, as time has gone by, I dont buy any pre packaged quick meals. I have learnt tips and tricks to make quick meals at home when in a pinch. We do, however eat our one meal a week, which gives me a break, but rarely ever do we have any fast food.
When I make homemade tortillas, I put them in a towel and keep them wrapped until I’m ready to use. Now when I’m storing them, I completely wrapped them in the same towels and I stick it in a Ziploc bags and they stay fresh for days even when I put it in the fridge, they never get hard enough to break. they heat up beautifully. Just wrap them in some kind of cloth I don’t know why but cloth works really good with tortillas.. also your family is absolutely beautiful.
I make homemade tortillas and for whatever reason they store best for me when I freeze them overnight and then heat them in a pan when I want to use them!
I’ve never stored fresh tortillas but if it were me I’d put them in a plastic freezer bag with damp paper towels between them and put them in the fridge if you’re going to use them right away and freezer otherwise. Wrap them in damp paper towels and heat in the microwave. I think they break from lack of moisture
If tortillas are hard you can get a damp paper towel and pop them in microwave for a bit. Or we just keep them in a tortilla warmer. But it could also be your recipe you use
Hi I’m new here just getting in love with your videos, I love that your videos are so relaxing and you inspire me to create a better life for my family as well I have 3 beautiful children and I might go for the fourth 😂 and for the tortillas as Mexican who love to make tortillas I usually put them in a ziplock bag to keep them soft for the rest of the week. 🩷🩷🩷
From SA. Super yummy, add a dash of cream in scrambled eggs, is soo yummy. But it needs to be once it’s cooked already, just before you take it out the pan.
I love salsa but my husband can't eat cooked tomatoes. I started making fermented salsa, oh my so so easy and tasty. Great way to make fresh tomatoes last longer too.
If you’d like your tortillas to stay pliable, my suggestion is right after you cook each one, place it on a plate covered in a towel (top and bottom) so that they steam a little while they cool. It helps so much!
I look forward to sitting down every time you have a new video come out! You're such an inspiration to me! I have loved the aprons you wear while in the kitchen! Do you have links for them?
For homemade tortillas, if you are eating them as soon as you make them, wrap them in a towel as you cook them. If you are making them for later, then whenever you are ready to eat them, wrap them in foil with a few splatters of water and heat them up in the oven for a few mins!
For my homemade tortillas, I have success just keeping them in a ziplock and in the fridge. I got this hack from the Mexican lady who I got the rep from. You make me so proud of you.
Salsa is SO easy! Just throw it in the food processor and mix. Don’t roast it takes too long haha!! Ingredients 6 fresh tomatoes (I used roma tomatoes) 1/3 onion- sweet or red- roughly chopped bunch of cilantro pinch of cayenne pepper 1 jalepeno or serrano pepper lime salt 3 cloves of garlic
I’ve been making homemade tortillas for a couple years now. I agree with another commenter that storing them in a ziploc once cooled will help. You may also want to play around with adding more fat into your dough. For 666g of flour, I use 120g avocado oil and about 1 1/2 -2 c of water. , and about 17g of salt, in case you want to give my recipe a try! Also, I’m also convinced that soft tortillas are largely attributed to a very well kneaded dough, with about 30 minutes of rest time before rolling out. Let me know if you try any of my tips, if love to hear if anything worked for you!
All looked so delicious! You gotta do homemade salsa though! It’s the easiest thing you’ll ever make and you’ll never go back to store bought. Trust me, I’m Mexican lol
That apron is so beautiful! I really need one! I have been trying to cook more from scratch and my oh my it gets very messy! I get tired of wasting paper towels or going through rags so fast I end up just wiping it on my clothes 😅 where are they from? Also my 6 month old daughters name is Delilah🩷
I've linked a site below I swear by Rory recipes I'm not sure how to make and hasn't failed me now I'm Scottish so this is a brittish so you may need to adjust your measurements ❤ I looked up their banana loaf recipe 4/5years ago never looked back and everyone loves it x
Omg!! As a latin woman living in the west coast USA I was shocked at the "never made salsa before" like what?!!.. it shows that our culinary expertise and interests are deeply shaped by location and exposure.. im sure you can do a fabulous job with home grown tomatoes 🍅
Tortilla recipe 4 cups four 1/3 cup lard/crisco 1 tbsp baking powder 1/2 tbsp salt 1 3/4 cup milk and water (approx) Mix first 4 ingredients. Add milk and water. I like to have the milk and water very warm to the touch. Mix well. Dough should be quite soft. Form into 12 balls. Allow to ‘rise’ for several hours in an airtight container. Tortilla balls store well in the fridge for several days. I like to make them fresh every meal instead of reheating. The same dough works well to make fry-jacks. A common side for a Belizean breakfast. Heat skillet on medium/high heat. Take a 12”x12” piece of foil, grease with some lard/crisco, press out tortilla balls with your hands, pick up the foil and place tortilla facing down onto hot skillet. Remove foil as soon as you can by lifting up one corner and peeling the tortilla off. Brown on both sides. by not using flour and a rolling pin your tortillas will come out softer). Coming from someone who grew up making tortillas, I would say your dough looks too hard, therefore causing your tortillas to be dry and crack.
What is the difference between a sourdough recipe and a sourdough discard recipe? I tried making my own sourdough starter a whilw back and it outgrew my container and made a huge mess 😂 i think i misunderstood the lady i listened to 😂😂 ill try again someday! I need a new jar 🤣
Haha! It sounds like you made a really healthy starter if it outgrew your jar 😊 the difference is that a proper sourdough recipe uses active sourdough starter (when it's still bubbly and growing) and usually waits long enough for the sourdough yeasts to eat and process the entire dough, where as a 'sourdough discard' recipe typically doesn't take as long, doesn't require active sourdough starter (so you can store and stockpile anything you discard from feedings in the fridge and use it anytime for a few months) and doesn't have all the benefits of the sourdough processing the flour to make it easier to digest. What you make also won't rise much unless you are adding something else like baking soda in. People often make cookies, pie crust or crackers with discard - it's a great way to use it up or give it the sourdough flavour :) hope that helps

Just came to say this. After cooking, allowing the tortillas to "steam" together in a towel after cooking is essential.

Also, don’t use any oil or butter in the pan. Just a very hot pan.
I look forward to sitting down every time you have a new video come out! You're such an inspiration to me!
I have loved the aprons you wear while in the kitchen! Do you have links for them?
I’ve heard a damp tea towel keeps tortillas moist or pliable. Worth a try! Love your videos they’re so peaceful, it’s my little form of escapism 😂 x
I freeze my tortillas and then thaw them when im going to eat them for the next meal. I heat them in the microwave wrapped in a damped paper towel
I do the same! It works really well:)
For homemade tortillas, if you are eating them as soon as you make them, wrap them in a towel as you cook them. If you are making them for later, then whenever you are ready to eat them, wrap them in foil with a few splatters of water and heat them up in the oven for a few mins!
You are a good cook. I like your cooking.❤
This was inspirational and beautiful! Thank you ❤
Steam the tortillas in a wet tea towel you can use microwave for like 30 sec-1 min
For my homemade tortillas, I have success just keeping them in a ziplock and in the fridge. I got this hack from the Mexican lady who I got the rep from. You make me so proud of you.
I like your kitchen!
Would you be able to link the pinky orange apron you used when you were making the tortillas? I absolutely love it and it looks gorgeous on you! 💕
Salsa is SO easy! Just throw it in the food processor and mix. Don’t roast it takes too long haha!!
Ingredients
6 fresh tomatoes (I used roma tomatoes)
1/3 onion- sweet or red- roughly chopped
bunch of cilantro
pinch of cayenne pepper
1 jalepeno or serrano pepper
lime
salt
3 cloves of garlic
Delilah🩷!!!!!! Thank you I needed cooking inspiration today! Love your channel girl 🩷🩷🩷🩷☀️
Wrap tortillas in a damp paper towel and microwave! It will steam them nicely :)
Tip for keeping homemade tortillas soft: warm them up wrapped in a slightly dampened paper towel!
We are starting to harvest our garden and making a year's worth of salsa is a must. Our 16 yr old son thinks he should eat a jar or 2 a week. 😂😂😂😂
Love these videos! It is truly inspirational! Thank you.
love these videos so much! thank you for the inspiration 🤎🤎🤎
My favorite taco and fajita seasoning recipe is from Lisa at Downshiftology. THE BEST.
I’m not sure if you put a wet paper towel in with the tortillas when you heated that up, but that may help!
I love your content! Its so relaxing and now that I have a baby I understand the struggles way better. Im not christian but you do you booboo ❤
Love these videos so much!🥰
I’ve been making homemade tortillas for a couple years now.
Thank you for sharing!! Love your videos 😘
For the tortillas, maybe warm them up in a wet paper towel in the microwave for a few seconds?
Love this! Where are the aprons from??
Keep tortillas in the fridge and put them in the toaster when you wanna eat them!
All looked so delicious! You gotta do homemade salsa though! It’s the easiest thing you’ll ever make and you’ll never go back to store bought. Trust me, I’m Mexican lol
Using lard as the oil/fat in the tortilla will keep them pliable!
Just lovely ❤
I love your apron! Do you mind sharing where it’s from?
Put you some green peppers, onions and smoked sausage in with your potatoes and fry together 😋😋
I love your family ❤
That apron is so beautiful! I really need one! I have been trying to cook more from scratch and my oh my it gets very messy! I get tired of wasting paper towels or going through rags so fast I end up just wiping it on my clothes 😅 where are they from? Also my 6 month old daughters name is Delilah🩷
William's intrest in cooking is clearly obvious!!
I have to say you're a super woman. I'm a mother of one, a toddler, and I would never have the energy to do 1/10 of what you're doing!
Can you share how you prewash your fruits and veggies and how you store them all?
Where did you get your white dress with little flowers? So pretty! I would love a summer wardrobe video! 🥰
I've linked a site below I swear by Rory recipes I'm not sure how to make and hasn't failed me now I'm Scottish so this is a brittish so you may need to adjust your measurements ❤ I looked up their banana loaf recipe 4/5years ago never looked back and everyone loves it x
Omg!! As a latin woman living in the west coast USA I was shocked at the "never made salsa before" like what?!!.. it shows that our culinary expertise and interests are deeply shaped by location and exposure.. im sure you can do a fabulous job with home grown tomatoes 🍅
she’s so white it hurts sometimes
Your apron is cute❤
You should invest in a tortilla press, it's going to be a game changer.
Tortilla recipe
4 cups four
1/3 cup lard/crisco
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tbsp salt
1 3/4 cup milk and water (approx)
Mix first 4 ingredients.
What did you put in the pink lemonade?! Childhood memory unlocked that i never once thought to make from scratch!!
Hey ❤ where are all your dresses from? These flowerprints are beautiful ❤
Hey! Most of Delilah’s dresses come from Neuflora, Son de Flor and Christy Dawn!
