Oh wow! I had a 330Ci about 20 years ago. It was also manual with a sunroof but had Harman Kardon surround sound and a widescreen TV/sat nav. I really regret selling it now, an absolute peach. I’m definitely going to enjoy this series 👍👌
Just put some redex in there will be running like brand new in no time, if the engine is screaming at you dont worry about it too much its just excited for the new call of duty

AHHHH AWSOME CAR!!!!! I have an e46 325Ci. I love it. To get it into reverse you just have to push hard over to the left (harder than you think) it may not stay running because the idle control valve may be stuck (I had this issue) and to fix this its just take it off and give it a clean with plenty of brake cleaner, and also the fuel pump is probably worn out which is pretty common (I also had this issue) and don't forget to do the fuel filter at the same time

I definitely think you should start by giving it a good all over clean and a full service. It won’t fix the issues but will make sure the engine is running ok! Also flush all of the fuel out of the system and give it a new tank full
Nice project man. Loads of good jobs on this. Clean the engine bay too. Will make it nicer to work on
The gearstick is a really common issue, its the detent pins in the transmission. Parts are cheap to fix it but you need to take the box out to do it I believe - Looking forward to the content on this old beast.

Solid car. Main issue is cooling system as they age and also the DISA valve too fairly cheap and very easy to change.

I daily a e46 330ci pre lci, with good maintanance i allready paid over 3.5K, and i do my own repairs. Good luck with it, just dont cheap out on quality OE parts..

Search 5th gear lean. It’s fixable. Common on z3 and e36 too
Can’t go wrong with an M54 mate 100k miles is nothing on them. Very nice and worth restoring they’re only going up in value.

FIRST OFF Change your Crank sensor & cam shaft sensor. This is normally a maintenance thing and saves major bullshit of them going wrong and scratching your head thinkin why isnt my car starting/ whys my car revving like shit.
The reason its cutting out and not staying on idal will be due to an air leak on the intake boot. Or the pipe on your ICV to the intake boot.
Also
Fill up with some nice 99 and then when u got her runnning do fuel filter as these are always shit for them

if that was ticking/knocking, i was kinda worried about the valves 😅 But could also be the loud injectors that make this sound like my clubman. Scary sound but might be something thats not a big deal.
I did notice the ticking when I started the car! It did scare me I can’t lie🤣 I truly think it’s something to do with BMW’s because my other BMW makes the exact same noise, the fuel injectors are just so loud on these especially with the six cylinder! Hopefully it’s not a problem but we will soon see🤣😅

Sounds like ticky lifters mate most likely low on oil or it’s where it hasn’t been ran for ages. Mine ticks if I leave it a couple weeks

Fuel starvation
I have a Mercedes CLK 320 its 52 plate I just submit it to MOT every year, Its a slug to start I should get on it before it heads to winter..
Just work your way through the car.. I have a Range Rover Vogue its a car I've never owned before.. GREMLINS..tyre issue is my biggest headache because the tread is like new. And I think some sausage head mother FCUKRR has done it on purpose.. He won't be walking for much longer if I catch him. He has done stuff to nearly all my cars pulling stuff apart.
Funny how he was a prison inmate with ROLF H And doesn't have any mechanic certificates.
Give you example I've owned my Vauxhall Astra Bertone 2.2 Convertible for 8 years It came with a spare black bumper, he said he could fix that original bumper I am acting clueless here because I don't no WTF He was on about I already bought a 54 plate Astra Bertone in same colour to do part swapping like rear bumper and leather interior and door mirror casing but on reflection the 54 plate car only needs a good car wash and a buff with a coolant issue.. a mix of possible issues (water pump belt and hose)..

@@TheOtherStuff that would be a sick idea, maybe you could learn to do a k24 frankenstein build yourself for content. You use a k20 engine from the type r and put a k24 bottom end on it, your looking at 280bhp naturally aspirated minimum with supporting bolt ons and loads more torque than a k20.
they tend to make even more power if you use the fn2 engine, or you could just do the build on an fn2 instead as theyre cheaper to buy as well.
