There’s also the Yamaha silent brass system if you’re willing to spend some money on it. Its got to be my favorite musical device ever! It’s an electronic practice mute that makes your trumpet much quieter for practice, yes, but the main draw is that it also comes with a device that is connected to the mute and has headphone jacks. Lets you hear the trumpet as though you were in a concert hall without bothering anyone around you. (Plus it comes with a cool studio program you can use with an ipad or a computer!)
But besides that great play heheheheh, been playing guitar harmonica and singing for 10 years, decided to pickup the trumpet month ago you helped a lot
If you go over to part 2, he talks about the practice mute. As the name suggests, it's obviously not for performance, but it'll work for your purposes.
I agree with thefatass500 (great name), a mute shouldn't actually dampen the volume, just change the timbre. Definitely go for a practice mute for what you need.

11:36 I'm always thinking of Peter Gunn Theme from the Blues Brothers, when you are playing this lick :P! ua-cam.com/video/9DgFOsEs-kE/v-deo.html (at 1 : 48)

The Divitt Practice Mute has been getting a lot of "buzz." Too bad they are always sold out.
Good to know! It's hard to find a good practice mute.
And what do you think about the Mute Tube for practicing the trumpet? ua-cam.com/video/-cjbH4Fbipw/v-deo.html
