Have struggled with some really bad haircuts, probably because I did not communicate clearly what I wanted. Thank you for clarifying the terms I should use: texture and graduated! I’m ready for my appointment next week.
4:35 minutes into the video is where she describes the difference between Textured and Layered hair, with a consice and excellent demonstration of the cutting technique. 💇♀️
Thank you for clearly explaining the difference between layers and texturing I have been trying to find out the answer for ages now I can tell the stylist
Yes! True differentiation between layers and texture. Finally explained. So hard to cut it and then it be wrong and not what you want and waiting for the grow out. Thanks so much for this video. With superfine hair i need the right cut!!!!
Wow you’ve just saved me from getting the wrong cut!!! 😅 It’s texture I want and I would have asked for layers! Thank you so much, so informative but also very clear, great video x
Just got my hair cut last night - have been following your hair journey on my own hair only I am growing my hair longer now (we shall see how long it lasts but it’s to my shoulders now). My stylist is very talented but he also really appreciates these videos and posts to help us communicate!!!
This is very helpful, using the right words! What is the best way to find a stylist, that will listen and not be offended when we come in with all this info?
Hello sweet friend! You always explain thing so easy. I've tried growing out my pixie cut but always get to frustrated and cut it Bach off. Your hair looks so amazing. Do you still have the undercut? Thank you for sharing this with us.
No more undercut for me. With pixies as you grow it’s easier when you keep the back shorter down at the nape of the neck and then go lower up top. It helps it grow out easier
I have seen so many of your videos and I have noticed you take a lot about fine hair but not thick hair. I have thick hair and love to have it short. I always get short bobs but never know if I should have it layered, and have the bottom area thinned out. I also have a long face. Please talk more about thick short hair.
hey love! The reason I do not talk about thick hair is because I do not have thick hair and people do not want to listen to me talk about thick hair when it is not what I have. I would search on UA-cam for thick short hair.
Quick question...with your cut curled (like at minute 9:35), what tool did he use to curl it like that? It is beautiful!! Also, can you do a tutorial for that as well?
Hey Catherine! That was actually a cut/style that Chris Jones did for me. I have a bunch of helpful styling videos on my channel here that may be helpful for you. Are you looking for flat iron curling? Wand curling? Or maybe something else? Let me know as I am happy to help XO!
@@jocelynmcclellan I have just started watching your videos and have watched several of your tutorials about curling your hair. My cut is similar and I've started curling it with a flat iron or 1" curling iron, but I was thinking of trying a wand and am trying to decide which type of barrel to buy. I know in one video you said your favorite was the reverse barrel. I really liked the way your hair is styled in that clip, so I was just wondering what type of tool he used that day.
I struggle with how to then style it myself at home to get the same look I got when I left the salon. Any thoughts on that? I have a similar cut to what you have now (although I'm so excited to tell them the 85/15!).
One thing you can ask them is when they are styling if they can show you how you can do it at home. Or pay super close attention to when they go forward or backward or how they hold their hands when doing it. Remember 85/15 is just to help them know they will barely be layering. It’s a very minimal layering and no short layers. It’s too often a stylist cuts too many layers and that is not what this look is
Do you have input that would help out people who get cuts they don’t want and get layers when they don’t want when telling a stylist to not cut layers? We need to bridge the gap between stylists and clients and this video to to show the difference between the two which I’m very very familiar with and a stylist background. So if you have some advice you’d like to help us with we are happy to listen
@@jocelynmcclellan more importantly is the consultation and conversation The Stylist has with her client. Make sure they're talking the same language and showing pictures. I'm sorry I did not mean to sound snarkey but what you said in this video is questionable.... and maybe that's because we stylist may have a different language kind of? I've been a stylist for 35 years.
Does this help you so you can go to the stylist and know what to tell them?

Thank you. The pictures will certainly help. Now I I could only find a stylist who can give a precision haircut. Fort Worth, TX.
Great Job

Thank you for this. Literally everything I need to know to explain to my stylist. No one else has explained this as well as you. SO appreciated!
Glad it was helpful!

Getting it cut today! Going to get the blunt bob with texture as I have naturally curly hair. ❤️
Yeah! Excited for you.

I thought I saw you do a video styling your hair and put Velcro rollers in the top for volume. Was that you? I can’t find it now and I loved it!
Sure was! It was likely in one of my lives on Facebook: facebook.com/fitmissionmakeup

Gosh it's complicated. So if my hair is thinner, would I want more layers or more texturing?
It all depends on the look you are wanting to achieve
you look like Jenny McCarthy. And it's not just bc of the haircut! Also you helped me so much thanks
You're so welcome!
Where is your top from?
Hey Bella! This is an older one from my shop. XO!

I say we all go to Chris Jones
Haha! Love it!
