I really enjoyed knitting it, it was not as hard as I thought it would be. I really like top down knitting as there are no seams to sew up and the finish is so much smoother, neater. I can't wait to see Agnes in it!
Things are ticking over in the shop, new things arriving all the time. At present there is a reprint of books and cards and some of the last Bird Kits still available. We have other things on order! coming soon - here

Kate, you would make a wonderful Hobbit! You have all the symptoms: garden, goose, purring cats, cooking, knitting, a cozy home, and even bee keeping, but most of all your joy for life and love of others. Like Hobbits, you are a surprise too! You are up with videography, ear buds, and merchandizing. You are afraid of nothing and you drive like a champ. You have talent, creativity, wide-ranging appreciation for art and the achievements of others. You have wisdom, humility, and charm. My sewing box has a stapler and a roll of duct tape in it. Also a few buttons, a little thread, and some pins. Even so, I hope I can become part of the Lime Green Sofa family.

I have never heard of skeeting. I cringed when you began to describe what needed to be done. I think your last suggestion to contact Arne is the best solution. Fortunately there is always someone out there with lots more experience to contact. Agnes's sweater is beautiful. Some day I will need to try to knit a sweater from the neck down.

oh my goodness!! I'm half way through this episode and just MUST comment! I am currently in the middle of my very first knit cardigan project knitted from the top down with a steek. I'm hanging on every word with the utmost interest! I've never blocked anything - so loving that you are sharing this process. I, too, had no idea how to gauge and just dived on in to the project. I was afraid to take it off the needles to try it on - so it's fit (or unfit) will be a mystery until the very end. if it doesnt fit me - I trust there is someone in this great big universe that it will fit hahahaha. It's the Victory Cardigan by The Woolly Thistle and it came with a video course - which has been helpful. The wool is wonderful! It's called Rauma Vams 100% Norwegian blend worsted. I have no idea what all of that actually means - but it's not itchy (at least while knitting). I LOVE your new green wool! I LOVE your knitting basket with the handles!! Okay, i'm going outside to do my farm chores then plan to finished watching your blocking project this afternoon! Thank you for this well-timed episode!!!!!!

I rather think I second Rebecca’s clever re-design idea. I too would match the current green at the top of the waistcoat and continue to the neckline and sleeves in the green (or some other plain colour). I think it would work beautifully with the rainbow on the lower two thirds. Sometimes I relish a challenge, and at other times I put on my practical hat and ask myself: why make life harder than it needs to be? 😄 Thank you so much for sharing your many projects with us Kate, they are all so inspiring. The little jumper for Agnes is very cosy, and the quilt colours are absolutely mesmerising.

Years ago, in the Seventies, I knitted up some yarn that varied in colour along the length. Like you I got to the armhole and realised that the stripes would be "off" so I counted the rows of green, the intro of the red, the rows of red etc that I had already knitted and then I cut the yarn when I needed a colour change....sacrificed lengths of yarn of course but it just about worked.

Kate, for the rainbow waistcoat, for the armholes, could you not just do the usual paired decreases on either side of the 7 steek stitches you are knitting (SSK on the one side of the steek stitches and K2TOG on the other side) for a few rows to draw in the fabric for the armholes? Normally for flat knitted items, you'd be binding off the stitches at the arm holes, but I believe the decreases would reduce the stitches, so when the fabric is steeked, the armhole curves would appear. Just a thought...

You can use a steek for the neckline too. You just add a few more stitches between the two sides, and then cut a steek in the extra stitches. I need several glasses of wine and not a little encouragement from my knitting gurus. It worked out beautifully! I’m sure Arne can guide you through it but let me also recommend Meg Swanson, Elizabeth Zimmermann’s daughter. She is as charming as you are and very patient. I’m sure there are UA-cam videos and whatnot. I’ll find some links for you!

The sweater is beautiful. I agree whole heartedly…. why not buy flowers. In today’s world we need things to cheer us up. Blessings.

Make Agnes a pair of mittens and/or a scarf using the leftover wool. Do the same pattern so it matches but reverse the colours, using the ones you have the most of left for the main and larger areas, and those with less left for the pattern detail.

What a lovely sweater! Lucky Agnes.
A couple of suggestions about blocking-you can stamp on the rolled up towel with your feet to really get the water out and, at least put a dry towel under it but best would be to put it on a non-absorbent surface. A plastic bin bag would work well.

Hello again. It was lovely to watch the full version. This time I got quilt envy when I saw so many folded up behind you as you sat on the couch. Happy crafting and enjoy your week🧶

Fjall is a word from Island, and it means rock mountain, and Lettlopi means nice and easy 😊
The second pattern is NUUK witch is a capital of Greenland, and the lady is most likely also from Island, by the sound of her name.
I also like these patterns 😁
    Greetings from Denmark 🙋

There is always a first time for everything, isn't there? I have not done steeking either, but I will be watching for your first experience to inspire me.

Arne & Carlos made an entire sweater from a tube. You can steek the neck as you steek the sleeves!

It's great to see the first part as well telling us which yarn it was. And I guessed right ! I love Lopi yarn and it has such interesting qualities that other sheep yarn doesn't. Quote from research the 'Icelandic sheep have fleeces that are divided into two layers. This is an integral part of what makes Icelandic wool so special. The long and coarse hair of the upper layer are called tog. It works in a similar way to an overcoat and repels water. The lower layer is called þel. The Þel hairs are shorter, softer and fluffier, making them perfect for insulation' I love wearing and knitting them, and like you say it's not an expensive yarn. I love your patchwork it's amazing and it's great to see you enjoying knitting challenges as well. Thanks for the joy you give us.

The soap flakes in lukewarm water helps the fibers soak up the water. Wool has lanolin naturally so the shampoo, etc helps break the barrier.

Lovely things and words today. Fjall meaning mountain and in English we have fells for hills in the northern regions, and then Nuuk yarn, which is the capital of Greenland. Definitely a northern motif, very apt. 😊
I'm so glad to have all of the video today, just a trifle confused before but put it down to me being a bit under the weather, or just flipping chemo brain. 🥴 xx
