Your videos have been such a comfort this year as I go through breast cancer treatments. Sometimes I just watch while I’m recovering, sometimes I feel well enough to do some sewing project, sitting on the lime green sofa listening to you chat away. I have been inspired to do my own EPP inch hexagons quilt and take my hexagon sewing to my chemo sessions each week as I can be there for up to 5 hours sometimes.

About 20 years ago I experienced rug hooking each week going to Gladys Hotchkiss’ home along with other older ladies to be instructed in the art of painting with wool. She taught us how to dye wool in gradient colors and how to choose just the right scrap from an old shrunken coat for the center of a flower. Maybe I’ll get that back out to work on as I never quite finished it. I’m notorious to bite off more than I can chew however I’ve come full circle to it.
Anna when I found you as a fellow crafter on the lime green sofa I replaced the wayside uncertainty this crazy life offers to one with determination and focus and FOUND MY HEART AGAIN. (Incidentally I have a light green leather loveseat in my crafting space that becomes a little nest to sit in and sew, read or share a cup of tea with a friend. ) So here in Missouri USA, there is room for everyone world around to sit on the LIME GREEN SOFA where we can snack on cake and cookies that have NO calories and laugh and teach one another a new art or be reminded we are not alone and that quirky is a good thing.
Kate , your ‘something of nothing’ crafts are not only good for the environment but tremendous for the soul. Love ya

Hooking! I dabbled in it some years back, made a small rug. We had a neighbor when I was a child who made gorgeous, floral carpets. So beautiful. Your Keith Haring inspired mat reminds me of when I used to run a knitting group at the LGBT Center in Manhattan. There was a bathroom on the 2nd floor in which Keith had covered every inch of the walls with a libidinous (shall we say) mural. It was quite an eyeful. At some point after his death the bathroom was converted into another meeting room and our knitting group was sometimes assigned to this room. So there we were, a mix of men and women with our needles and yarn surrounded by Keith's fantastic mural! I believe there are pics somewhere on the web, but be forewarned, it's graphic. I love your mats, especially 'full English breakfast'.

About 25 yrs ago, I took a Primitive Rug Hooking class (that's what they call here in the US, as opposed to Latch Hooking), at an historic site. What a lovely place to explore and sit and work. I made a chair pad, now we'll worn out and a square commemorating beloved pets (our dog had just passed). I loved it and still do. My frame is a metal one I bought in a weaving store. It's raised, so you can sit under it and work above your lap. That is still going strong too. Thanks Kate, for all the hints. When I started, it wasn't so difficult to get 100% wool clothing from friends or the thrft shop to wash, shrink, dry, and strip - nowadays, not so easy to find. So glad Arne and Carlos pointed me in your direction after they started watching you.

Wow that craft is very different and unique. I love watching your videos and the one that you said you didn't like reminds me of different colored popcorn balls. I love them all. Keep up the great work that you do.

My grandmother hooked rugs. Room size rugs with wool she dyed. I have her frame that my dad made for her as well as her home made hook and the strip cutting wheel. Your video has give me such a sense of deja vue.I can taste the tea and hear the snowy wind rattling the window panes. Thanks from way DownEast Maine on a very blustery wintry “Spring” evening ❤️

Gardening with flowers. Some quilting. I’m interested in learning the EPP. That’s very interesting to me. I bought some needles. 🎉 have a good day

I use a roller frame like that for all my hooking, needlepoint, embroidery, counted cross-stitch, stitching free-form onto hand-painted canvases etc. such a GREAT tool!! No hoops unless absolutely required. I’ll try to find you the link you were wondering about.

@@wendywilson1736 My sister wanted to do something easy but pretty as her first project in quilting. I have been quilting for years and she wanted to learn. My most ambitious quilt was the Grandmothers Flower Garden in queen size all done by hand which she loved. I just gave it to her and now she is making one of her own. She loves the hand piecing and will be hand quilting as I did. My little sister never did quilts. She is in her sixties. I love the fact that she wants to have this to work on since she retired. I'm going to be 79 years old.

Thanks for demonstrating this technique. I have a kit. All the strips are pre-cut. I put it in a frame and couldn't figure out how to situate the frame so I could balance everything and still hook. Many artists making videos with this technique have expensive, free standing frames with legs. But I didn't want to invest in something so expensive for a first try. I'm going to try your method... Wish me luck! 💖🌞🌵😷
