My son is 13 years old and was diagnosed with autism 2 months before he turned 3. We do not share anything online about his journey. The o Ky people who know are our families. It’s his journey to tell if he wants to one day. And I would never buy anything from someone exploiting their child’s diagnosis that is absolutely sick. This upsets me so bad

Her trying to make ASD more aware is unbelievable to me. I am a mother to ASD child and I get that everyone excepts the diagnosis differently but the fact that she’s coming on to these platforms and wants to promote ASD awareness? Get out of here! It screams opportunist! This isn’t something that goes away. You don’t go and try to profit off of his ASD. The struggles that we as parents go through especially with a special needs child is a lot work and sacrifices. The fact that she shared his level of ASD, there’s going to be a lot of work and patience for all of them. I hate that she’s promoting his diagnosis just to profit. If anyone disagrees, so be it. This is my opinion and this is how I feel.

I’m an autism mom and I’m so conflicted. I am all for awareness especially being a mom seeing my child struggle, seeing people judge. It’s hard. And I love raising awareness. With that said I’m not sharing personal experiences publicly my child has been through, etc. also the “cute shirts” are just… a lot. It’s kind of like plastering your child’s diagnosis on yourself and making it your identity as an “autism mama”. Idk. This one was a miss for me but as a mom in the community it’s so hard to judge considering I can relate

I also think spreading more treatments or programs available would be more beneficial than getting a shirt. My best friends nephew has severe autism and it was linked to the flu shot. But his mom doesn’t show the struggles but she does list therapies and programs that can work best with someone with a case such as her son. I don’t think it’s about awareness for Tara unfortunately so think it’s a sympathy

No child needs to be a content for "raising awareness", it's not his responsibility. And a t-shirt will help nobody. Although i think it's ok for her to talk about her life with her son. I have 2 little daughters that am in middle of diagnosis and the life is so hard i wouldn't even imagine.

Autism mama here. When my child got her diagnosis I researched autism obsessively, and am still learning every day. I will always use the rainbow infinity symbol to show my support for her. I honestly don’t think Tara knows a lot about the neurodiversity community or what they stand for. I would much rather buy t shirts from Etsy from an autistic seller. The best way to show support during Autism Acceptance month is to support actual autistic people. I share limited information about my daughter on social media because it connects me with invaluable online resources and communities that help me to understand and support my daughter.

The fact she did this shows me that what aaryn said before with a little detail of what happened is true. Tara only cares what brings her money which is fine but when you sell your family for money honestly to me it shows that there is no boundaries she wont push to get a buck. Exploiting HIS diagnosis it’s not right im sure its hard on her being the mom but HE is the one going through it not her. Honestly thats why i commented last week that any parent who uses their children specially when they have an illness or diagnosis its not ok what so ever. I would not appreciate my parents using me, i know because that happen to me not for money like family bloggers but for vain and power which is the same feeling at the end of the day.

On one hand I love spreading awareness for my son’s disorder (it gets people to get tested and in all honestly it brings more eyes to different charities for people to donate to because it is so rare and doesn’t get talked about) but on the other hand I can’t imagine going into great detail on what my child goes through. I don't know...I haven't been watching Tara's videos that long, but I think I'm Team Tara on this one. Even if she were the most horrible person in the world, to get that diagnosis is a pain that I wouldn't wish on anyone. It really would have been hard for her to hide because when they go out to do things as a family and they feel that he may be overwhelmed, so he stays behind...people would get nosey and probably find out anyway. Then it would have been something like "Oh, she's ashamed of him!" or something like that. I don't think she saw dollar signs or anything when he got the diagnosis...she did take a year you said to come out and say it, right? And I personally don't think there's anything wrong with the t-shirts since she already had a business, why not make a shirt that means something to her, ya know? I don't know, that's just my unpopular opinion. Still love your videos though!: P But honestly, I feel like if Tara comes across this video...tears will be shed. I really feel like it was innocent.

How would people find out anyway if she didnt share her kids in the first place? This is all on her no matter how you look at it.
Consider educating yourself a bit more before you share your thoughts about people in the neuro-diverse community. Your comment makes it sound like Autism is the worst thing in the world. You obviously haven't been around the beautiful minds of autistics much. Also, plenty of neuro-typical people get overwhelmed when they go out in public and even many neuro-divergents don't. I'm in the beginning of the video so I don't know if you'll be touching on this, but as an autistic person I just want to add that Autism Awareness is considered to be a hate group by a large portion of the autistic community. I just wanted to say it because many allistic people talk over autistic people.
I'm torn on how I feel about this influencer talking about it on their platform, because I do want to see some things continue to be normalized. Getting your kids diagnosed, taking them to therapy, accommodating their needs. That would have made a huge difference in my life and many other people's lives, but I also don't like that a *child* who can't consent is being exploited in the process. Their face doesn't need to be in the equation.
Edit: I see you mentioned it, yay!
I hate that she's trying to sell merch based off her child's medical needs. And poorly done.

Also, randomly sad that your tagline is UA-cam Mom Drama instead of Mama Drama 😂😂😂

As a mom to a child with autism I feel like it would be a different story if she would actually donated the profits that she makes off the shirt.
I Think I will feel a bit different about the situation.

She has never said once anything about his condition/needs. Yet posts? I expected nothing less from. Her. I really did like her before. Now after this, no more.

I don’t get why she is struggling 🤔 it’s not her businesses to tell everyone his story!! It’s disgusting 🤢 and very sad for her child 😢 she’s right, it’s HER job!! But it’s not HIS!! 😢

I don't know about this I don't think she means any harm by it she is into the graphic shirt scene and wear those mama shirts and I can see people wearing them who have children with autism I personally wouldn't, I have a son with special needs and has delays he's a bit older then Tara's son he now looks at me when people ask about his delays so I've been holding back a bit when he's present I can tell he doesn't really like it he sees himself just like every other kid and doesn't quite understand. I'm Aussie and there are shops here that sell similar stuff and I've seen stickers on cars with autism mum on it

Bonnie hollein exploits her developmentally disabled adult Aunt on social media and now the rest of her family has cashed in on this she just had a birthday and they did a video about it and she has the mentality of a five year old right and Bonnie thinks it’s hilarious how her demeanor changed when she opened up her gift and it was healthy granola that one of her nieces made for her I’m not sure if I would like to open up a healthy granola on my birthday she was very saddened she’s lived out her life in an institution I believe she’s 72 or 78 years old now and they bring her out on holidays and her birthday I am in no way trying to bring attention to Bonnie Holian because I would never support anything that she does or did do in the past or because she didn’t got the PPP loan. There are very wholesome money hungry people lol

Tara isn't using her son for profit, she's more so educating parents that could be experiencing the same thing. It hard as a part to watch your child go thru such a thing. Maybe if people were more educated in mental health they might understand thing a lot better

How is she educating parents by selling tshirts? Viewers had to educate Tara on the Autism symbol and which charity to donate to

If my kid had a disorder I'd love to buy nice, well made shirts to wear my support. Plus like she said, she couldn't find any that she liked, so she made her own. I like hers because they're pretty and don't look like the average black and white boring support shirts. I think it's a wonderful idea.
