I stopped fishing before commercials really took off so this is a bit alien to me lol. I suppose "needs be when needs must" and the results seem to be worth it! Great to see you back to doing what you do best mate.
When slapping, is pellet always your go to bait, or when does casters or maggots become your favourite bait to use, or is it just down to the venue? Again another great video Jon....👍🎣
Cheers Jon - I’m very inconsistent with this method. Two questions please (1) would you ever slap on a snake lake ? (2) when would you use a few shot in the middle of the rig to give 3 ‘plops’? Tar, Jon.
Thanks Jon, yes definitely slap on a snake lake too. Tend to fish it a lot shallower on smaller venues, say 12-14in deep with a 6mm pellet, or even a 4mm.
Forgot to answer the 2nd question. For proper carp I prefer a free fall of the bait, is no shot down line. For F1s and small carp when they're v shallow a bulk 3-4in from the hook can help. It's more for hitting bites than the 3rd plop though, although historically three plops was always thought to be most attractive, I just think the float and hook bait is enough.
Hi yes every fishery has its own rules, so check first. The Glebe fishery, for instance, originally didn't allow slapping, but I gather they've just allowed it now, so always check the fishery rules.
Went to cob house, the carp wouldnt come to slapping, managed to plop a couple though and if i could have stood up to see them im sure id have many more but rules say cant! Still cracking venue
If you only pay £8 for a day's fishing you've got a deal mate as most fisheries around me are £10+ a day and if you want to use a 2nd rod you have to pay extra (usually another £4)
Love your posts . But for me a single pensioner who ONLY goes fishing paying as I have been informed up to £10 a couple of times a week is a lot of money for me. SPEND most days on local canal
You’ve got to keep on keeping on Jon. I want to see you back in the big matches.

Pellets are the noisiest for slapping, but yes casters and worms and maggots etc all have their day

Top man Jon……I’ll give it a whirl next time 🤞
Thank you Jon, have some match venues band slapping?

I fished a match a couple of weeks ago and am sure this would have worked .
I ended feeding far too much and stuffed it up .
Good watch Jon .
Yes when its moody like it is at the mo, slapping and plopping about is often better than feeding
im slapping tomorrow at pipe hill fishery Lichfield hopefully have a good day......nice one jon ....😊😊😊
Best of luck

Glad you caught a few plopping
Hoping to get a few slapping Jon, haven't done it for a while cheers 😊
Best of luck 👍
I have recently tried it, although I don't really enjoy fishing this way & feels a bit strange at first.
Agreed, it's not my favourite tactic, but it can sometimes be unbeatable and it's great when it works
Fab. Have a great weekend! 🐳👍
Thanks you too 👍
May Potter does that tapping with pole aswell
Works a treat at certain times of the year...
Jon can keep nets be used here for pleasure fishing?
Only in matches or with special permission for filming/coaching days
Must admit since getting the mtx4 v1 its so much stiffer that its not as easy to slap it over as the mtx 3 bounces so much lol
I probably use more knee lifting than my arms when the pole is stiffer
I just told my Mrs about this slapping. Now I'm told to sleep on the sofa rom now on...🤔🤔🤔
Oh dear!
Must admit LOVE my commercial fishing . A bit hard but hate paying £ 8 for a days fishing
£8 for a full days fishing, are you for real!!

Cheap than most that venue
Most venues are a tenner now, but for a full day compared to watching football or going to the cinema, concert or a theme park etc it's a bargain

Long common like river commonw
Long torpedoes
Have you ever fished at Messingham sands in scunthorpe if you were in a match did you win stay lucky tight line's mate
I have fished there several times and done OK but sadly not won. Lovely venue. Swan Pool is a bit like Meadowlands
We all love a slapper 🙈😵💫🤔
8-O
Get back on those big matches jon
Thanks Philip
