Hey FSG, Thank you so much for these videos. I've learned so much from them. Being on dialysis I can't do much during treatment so I watch your videos. Hours of entertainment. Please keep up the good work!
This is extremely easy for a newbie to follow. Very well done tutorial of the basics of autodrive. I could have spent time and figured it out myself but so much better when others have already done it for me :) Earned a sub there & will progress thru the other vids even tho the basics is all I needed to skip :)
This is gold! I really appreciate you explaining things click-by-click for us newcomers. I'm so looking forward to the next installments. I allowed AD to generate a network in Elmcreek but ran into a couple of spots with AD not being able to calculate a route along the road where the debris crusher is. Couldn't move past an existing node to the next node right on that road - no hill, no collision. I deleted those nodes and created new ones, but it still wouldn't move past that spot. If I manually moved the tractor past that node to the next one, it carried on fine. I started Elmcreek again without the generated network, created my own nodes along that road, and everything worked as it should. I don't know why it got stuck on the generated nodes there.
Usually it gets bumped in some collision in the way so it stops the helper just before those. Try raising the collision height in the settings menu accessed by the cog icon, or turn it off all together.
Thanks for the kind words Thorsten, yes I think the course generation perhaps doesn't grab every point on the traffic splines leading to some incomplete courses which is unfortunate
There are good tutorials out there for FS22 and then there are your tutorials which are excellent. Thank you so much for investing your time so other players like myself can enjoy mods like this. I was big into Courseplay in FS15 and FS17 but never used AutoDrive or Courseplay in FS19. Because of your tutorials I will certainly make use of both in FS22. Thank you!!

@@TheFarmSimGuy I wathced a hand full of Tutorials on the subject and it felt like there were major gaps in all of them. Found yours, and everything finally clicked.
Love you vids, helps out so much. I use my pickup truck to run by every target, and lay down a short autodrive section , and label. Works really well for me to make a course.
This video is broken down so well. You made it so clear, thank you. One top that I have found when creating a drive system is putting in roundabouts so you don’t have cross overs at junctions it looks a lot cleaner.
Great clear easy to understand video, I spent hours yesterday trying to put a course together but got it completely wrong but now I’m confident I know what I’m doing. Just come over to fs on pc after playing on console it’s so much better.
This mod used to intimidate me, but the more you play with it the easier it gets. I will say the number one issue I experience is the dreaded "cannot find" error when you think you've set up a course but the Auto Drive doesn't recognize it. The typical issue usually has to do with how I've linked splines together. Somewhere a 1-way course was connected backwards, or offset (like a weird zig-zag) to the wrong trunk line. If you cannot get a new spline to work just check where it links in to your trunk lines and make sure they're connected right. Also, on one-way courses it matters which node you click first when linking them to splines. It took me a while to realize you connect splines in the direction of traffic, not the direction you're looking, necessarily. Finally: I just want to say FSG's videos for FS19 were the sole reason I felt confident enough to play with this mod. Thank you for your excellent content!
you always click to connect as if it was 1st node "from" and 2nd node "to". took me a while to realize that also when i started using autodrive, but thats the logic behind it. also, as i mentioned in another comment to another user, if you use the auto generated route, check the crossings properly as autodrive might create duplicated nodes and connections, and sometimes forgets to connect some nodes to the network, creating many of those "cannot find" or "cannot drive to" errors.
Thank you for this. I've used CoursePlay for making courses in '15 & '17 but never played '19. Not knowing how to, let alone needed to, connect/complete courses caused me to be frustrated with it. As CP in 15 & 17 would automatically do that on its own. As coming from 17, it basically looks like CP was simply split into 2 mods with CP specializing in fielswork, and AD for transporting.
This is very useful information. I love the scroll function. One problem I’m having is my tractor will not drive a consistent speed and in some points it literally comes to a crawl and almost stops for no reason that I can see.
Yes that does seem to sometimes happen, try changing your look ahead distance in the menus to higher than 5m. I think what it's doing is when there are a lot of nodes to calculate (a corner for eg) it does slow down quite a lot.
@@aceplaysgamesnetwork9566 if you use the automatic route creation, check on some crossings as it sometimes creates multiple nods, or even routes, for the same direction, and sometimes dont connect some of those nodes. that might make the autodrive think more than it should and slows down the vehicle before he takes the decision of what route to take. Also in options, there is a section related to ground collicions, help tooltip says default values should be 2.0, but it always starts at 1.25 instead. i have noticed that on roads with inclines autodrive will slow down thinking that it will collide with the road itself, raising that value helped and they dont slow down as much.
@@TheFarmSimGuy as the scroll feature is very handy, i still prefer to do the turns manually by driving the vehicle itself. that way i try to make sure one vehicle doesnt hit the other. in your video we could see the 2 tractors stuck with each other and then you moved the nodes to fix it, i always do that manually recording lol.
@@Marcompam thanks I think I set up the route with auto connect and the part that it seems to struggle is on a slight incline. Is there a way to erase everything and start over? My course is on no man’s land and other than the road that is outside the map there’s no built in nodes.

I regret ignoring this mod in 19. I never saw the point over courseplay but after watching this I'm definitely going to give it a shot, it looks pretty slick.
Awesome video. Love the idea of using the scroll wheel to make curves. That will make intersection look more normal. I was on the Erlangrat (sp?) map, Using the auto generated courses, I was trying to go from the starter farm to the dealership but ran into the problem of not finding the points. I found one connection that was not connected but had two dots stacked so it looked normal. It still was not working but I rn out of time before having to run off to work. Edit: I am experiencing issues with AutoDrive not finding target location when using the auto generated courses from the traffic splines and found that, for me anyway, that at intersection with multiple connections, there are multiple balls that are stacked and not connected.

I got the game when it first came out and there was no mods and I stopped playing for a bit, I’m just coming back to the game and all the good mods are back so I’m excited to try them
Great video, I did not know about the scroll wheel and made my own curve using the manual insert node with the right mouse button. I have noticed the red dots on the nodes still disappear at times like in FS19, no idea why. Also connecting to the map splines does not include tip/sell waypoints and have to be put in by hand the first time.
Thanks a lot for this very informative video Farm Guy! I am new to FS so I have a lot to catch up with I see. 🤓 You explained Auto Drive so even I can understand it and in a tempo that I can follow. I really look forward to part 2! I wonder if autodrive can be used to make field work i.e. Harwesting and if yes, can you make a video about it also?
Thanks Bossen, it can’t do field work as such but can run grain certs or silage trailers for you, I will be doing a video on this at some point for sure
Just spent 3 hours trying to get the onscreen menu to open by overlooking something simple, 1st thing you have to use Left/Alt because Right/Alt does NOT work. Second The GUI is opened with Left/Alt+KP-0 and I was trying to use control+Left/Alt+KP-0 which opens the bindings not the GUI, it was right in front of my face the entire time. posting this so hopefully I can save someone else from resetting all their keybindings, deleting and reinstalling the game, installing only Autodrive to figure this out like I did.
Great work FSG just one thing i have noticed you did this with AD2.0.0.0 which has changed it is now at 2.0.0.2 and the elm creek map has a lot of missing corners for me. Love this mod one of the most underestemated mods in the game
How do you get your waypoints to always appear? I have to hold Ctrl or Alt to see them, which is a bit of a pain. Edit: Figured it out. Right Ctrl toggles it.
I don't quite get the saving part. The Elm Creek course came with lots of fractured points (connections to different roads were severed). I fixed it up and added some of my own. At one point, I decided to load in the "saved course" (I save the course as "ElmCreek 1" every time I modify it), and it instantly messed EVERYTHING up; everything was thrown out of calibration. I loaded the savegame again and it was back to normal. What I don't get is what do you do with saving routes (moreover, I don't get what a "route" is defined as in this sense). Do I have to save it every time I make a change to the map routes? Or is it like courseplay where saving a "route" in this sense is saving an already-calculated job? Also, why does it default to "route 1". What throws me off is that you can save multiple routes. Why have multiple routes and not add on to the main branch? I can't find any good explanations so far and I'm lost.
I seen a reddit that said you can use a grain cart on Autodrive to unload a player controlled combine, but I can't find it. Have seen anything on that? I'm playing on Taheton 4X and some of the fields won't generate a course for courseplay. Thank you
I have a question...do the two hopper semitruck trailers have any problems unloading both hopper with autodrive? I know in FS19 only the first hopper would unload with Courseplay
How does AD handle reversing of trailers? And does it stop giving way to traffic or level railway crossings? I can still see tractors getting stuck because they get blocked by AI cars.
ive downloaded an autodrive network and some of the (what appears to be offroad courses) are yellow lines rather than green or blue, what are the yellow ones and how do you make them ?
Hey @the FamrSim Guy - is there any way to have autodrive go to a location, dump the cargo and then return from that location all in one job? I can't seem to figure that out.
@@TheFarmSimGuy Darn it, I can't seem to figure out how! Each one just looks like it can go there, or go there to dump, or go pick something up and then go to dump, but nothing seems to have an option to come back after you dump. I'll keep looking. Thanks for the help.
This is a great video. I am having an issue myself tho, the mouse wheel to bend the curve thing doesn't work for me, I've had to resort to simply driving it to record a turn.
i know this is way late but all you do is use click on the first point when not recording then use scroll wheel while aiming at the next point you want to go to then when you get the arc you want that's when you click on the next point
If I do the same you do around the 14 minute mark, the first little loop, I always get something like "driver can't reach waypoint xyz" and nothing else happens. Set up a very similar little loop, it's one way and correctly connected. But I can't get it to work for me.
@@TheFarmSimGuy Will definitely try around a little more when I find the time, would really like to get it to work. Will definitely keep in mind to keep the turns wider in the future, as there where actually a few quite tight ones - the arrows however indicated that everything was connected properly.
Why are the ground dots the same color as the above tractor dots? Why is there no UNDO? Why do we have to drive under the waypoint to delete it? Hoping FS25 doesn't require so many mods to do basic tasks.
Hi Mr. Farmsimguy. Great video. I was reading about side routes. A side route can be one way or you can make it to be 2 ways. Why would you use a side route over main route? Don't main routes accomplish the same thing.
Hi, thanks, no side routes are very helpful if you want to access fields away from a main road, but don’t want vehicles taking a shortcut down a road you don’t want them to go down. It’s a good solution, I’m planning on doing a video on it 👍
Just click on the previous point then the next on after the one you deleted and it should relink them, if you’ve removed a larger section drive the route recording new waypoints and then reconnect each end to the existing course 👍
Very nice video. But i want to ask, do you what are orange and brown lines in AD ? You can get orange line when you hold SHIFT + LMB on Record button, while brown line is SHIFT + RMB on Record button. I cant find info on this anywhere.
so i have a quick question, it will show me the message at the beginning of a new safe but when i press yes it doesnt create a network, is that because the modded map im using not having the right roads or is there a different thing?
Ah i see, there indeed wasnt any traffic on the map so i guess that was why it didnt create anything, still fun to creat my own routes with tho, and thanks to your great guides i think ill be able to get even more out of it
your video has helped me soo much.... wondering tho i cant get the autodrive to empty the second trailer or if using the multiple dump trailer the helper only dumps first compartment and have look at many other videos and no luck finding what i am missing
It was a big issue in FS19 version of Autodrive, but FS22 it seems to be much better, let me do some tests and see if I can get it working and if so I'll share a vid!
That does happen with AD too, I just managed to put my turn radiuses too close to gether, if I'd switched look ahead to 8m instead of 5 he would have stopped sooner to let the other tractor out
Can it find the nearest waypoint automatically? Like if you are on a field harvesting and you want to send a load to your silo, can it find the road without help?
Yes Simon, great question! - I talked about the red line on the tractor that's always searching for the nearest node, so it should always take you from wherever you are back to the course. In practise this can cause issues, especially if you are a long way from the course, as it will always head to the node that is the closest, so that might be through a lake or a forest or fence, so bear that in mind. It's sometimes good to set up a waypoint at field entrances and use that as a go to point if you are in a field. (I'll cover more about this in the upcoming combine unload course tutorial) 👍
If you don't mind a question. I just downloaded this mod, but the scroll wheel function isn't working for me. What is the keybind function I need to set it for to click it? Also, just coming into FS22 I must say I absolutely love your tutorials for all the advanced stuff concerning these AIs with PHDs..they're so much better.
I really wish the Courseplay MODS had not tried integrating this into CP. CP for FS19 refill courses were simple to create. Just record yourself driving to the refill point and then back to the field. Autodrive isn't as simple and complicates things too much.
Courseplay and Autodrive integrated with each other in FS19 too. And Autodrive is a lot less processor intensive than CP. what’s nice is we have choices and options, I think the two working in harmony is the best solution for me and can work incredibly smoothly 👍
This style of tutorial happens to work quite well as it is presented in a well organized way and without rushing through the steps.
Thanks

awesome tips love the scroll wheel feature
Glad it was helpful!
I got the game when it first came out and there was no mods and I stopped playing for a bit, I’m just coming back to the game and all the good mods are back so I’m excited to try them
Yeah your timing couldn’t be better 😊👍
Great demonstration many thanks.
Thank you 😊🙏
Another excellent tutorial.
Thanks again!
Very clean explanation... help alot ! thanks.
You're welcome!
Hit your right Ctrl button Derek it switches them on and off 👍
Great Video, helped me so much.
Glad to hear it!
Man. Here I was going around every corner multiple times on Green Valley when I could have just been using the mouse wheel.
Haha yeah that is a great improvement on the FS19 version 👍
Awesome vid. Thank you.
My pleasure!
Thanks a lot for this very informative video Farm Guy!
I am new to FS so I have a lot to catch up with I see. 🤓
You explained Auto Drive so even I can understand it and in a tempo that I can follow.
I’m a little late to the party, but what a great tutorial. 👍
Thanks so much David, The vid has been out a while but all still relevant, so great people are still finding it and finding it useful 🙂👍
thanks, so its basically setting up railway system like in Factorio :D
I go away for a week where i dont have a computer. and all these mods come out
Excellent stuff!
Thanks 😄
Looking forward to more of the same 👍👍
More to come Centurion! 👍
Definitely want to see more taterious
Haha the start of the video this is a short video. Then I look at length and it’s 40 mins. I’ll still be watching
Yeah I kinda forgot how long it takes to go through everything 😂
Great work FSG just one thing i have noticed you did this with AD2.0.0.0 which has changed it is now at 2.0.0.2 and the elm creek map has a lot of missing corners for me. Love this mod one of the most underestemated mods in the game
Please do tutorial on how to mow grass and collect it with baler/forage wagon with autodrive
Can someone please help me, the autodrive menu doesn't appear for me. What I do?
Check your keybinds, you can either add one to open the HUD or there will be one that's already set up
How do you get your waypoints to always appear?
Thank you
Yes you can, I do it a lot, just make sure your combine is set to the same field waypoint as the auger wagon on Autodrive
I have a question...do the two hopper semitruck trailers have any problems unloading both hopper with autodrive? I know in FS19 only the first hopper would unload with Courseplay
It’s much improved in FS22 and I’ve managed to unload dual hopper trailers, not tested it much yet but so far So good 👍
How does AD handle reversing of trailers? And does it stop giving way to traffic or level railway crossings? I can still see tractors getting stuck because they get blocked by AI cars.
AI cars can be a pain, it's awesome at reversing trailers though, I've a couple of vids showing this working ua-cam.com/video/cjTNdZmc0Pg/v-deo.html
ive downloaded an autodrive network and some of the (what appears to be offroad courses) are yellow lines rather than green or blue, what are the yellow ones and how do you make them ?
Yes side routes, I’ll be covering those in a future video
Hey @the FamrSim Guy - is there any way to have autodrive go to a location, dump the cargo and then return from that location all in one job? I can't seem to figure that out.
Yes indeed there is, you can scroll through the different options to choose different course types. Possibly something for a video in the future
@@TheFarmSimGuy Darn it, I can't seem to figure out how! Each one just looks like it can go there, or go there to dump, or go pick something up and then go to dump, but nothing seems to have an option to come back after you dump. I'll keep looking. Thanks for the help.
Thanks mate!!
Sometimes if your turns are too tight it can have an impact, might be worth checking it is fully connected
It’s a good solution, I’m planning on doing a video on it 👍
I accidently deleted some of the waypoints on the generated map any way to get them back or reset the map to default?
Just click on the previous point then the next on after the one you deleted and it should relink them, if you’ve removed a larger section drive the route recording new waypoints and then reconnect each end to the existing course 👍
Very nice video. But i want to ask, do you what are orange and brown lines in AD ? You can get orange line when you hold SHIFT + LMB on Record button, while brown line is SHIFT + RMB on Record button. I cant find info on this anywhere.
By changing what settings were you able to change the location of the points so that the tractors (With Drag - 36:37 time video) do not collide?
so i have a quick question, it will show me the message at the beginning of a new safe but when i press yes it doesnt create a network, is that because the modded map im using not having the right roads or is there a different thing?
If there is no traffic on the map, it won’t create a network, the modder must put traffic splines in for it to work
Ah i see, there indeed wasnt any traffic on the map so i guess that was why it didnt create anything, still fun to creat my own routes with tho, and thanks to your great guides i think ill be able to get even more out of it
The mouse wheel feature for corners isn't working for me. Any ideas?
When I set a route to cross a small creek like in the main farm of Elmcreek the tractor just stops at the creek, how do I prevent that?
Thank you!
You're welcome! 😊
your video has helped me soo much.... wondering tho i cant get the autodrive to empty the second trailer or if using the multiple dump trailer the helper only dumps first compartment and have look at many other videos and no luck finding what i am missing
It was a big issue in FS19 version of Autodrive, but FS22 it seems to be much better, let me do some tests and see if I can get it working and if so I'll share a vid!
@@TheFarmSimGuy thx so much
Would this work to set up a route to fill up water tank in a pond and go back filling the greenhouses with water?
I think you would need something with a defined trigger to fill from, but it’s worth a try
If I want is for example for mining Maps can I make a point where the tractor maintain stopped until i load it up with an excavator??
Hi, yes that would be a standard load point, and it will wait until it detects the trailer is full before leaving 👍
@@TheFarmSimGuy thanks!
so uh...did you ever make the follow up video? Or is the one from 19 still good?
Not got around to it yet, but yes the principles from FS19 still stand so worth checking out older vids too
What I liked with courseplay in 19 is if the AI came across each other they would actually give space to pass.
@@TheFarmSimGuy thanks. It looks kinda scary and complicated at first, but very well explained
Hi Chase, have you reset any of your keybinds before? I believe it’s show HUD in the keybinds section, the AD related keybinds all start with AD 👍
Also thanks for the kind words it’s much appreciated 👍
I did reset them, but do you know which one in particular I should be looking for if I need to remap it @@TheFarmSimGuy
@@liquor_n_lunchables yes it’s show HUD or similar
A video about unloading combine please...the mods important tutorial
Yes coming soon!
May I ask something why does my hud keep saying "No driver with same target available" ? Thank you for the wise video
I've had this a few times too, I've not found out what it is yet but will do some more digging
Great video, just wondering what map you were using here?
Just a blank map, I think it’s still on ModHub
@@TheFarmSimGuy thanks for the reply mich appreciated
I wish they keepet its separate I only use fs because rhe couse play made it fun. This all seam very complicated personality miss the old course play
This is Autodrive not courseplay, courseplay still exists for FS22
I really wish the Courseplay MODS had not tried integrating this into CP. CP for FS19 refill courses were simple to create. Just record yourself driving to the refill point and then back to the field. Autodrive isn't as simple and complicates things too much.
Courseplay and Autodrive integrated with each other in FS19 too. And Autodrive is a lot less processor intensive than CP. what’s nice is we have choices and options, I think the two working in harmony is the best solution for me and can work incredibly smoothly 👍
