You all are gorgeous. I love so many things about this video. It's the black girl hair story for me. I'm so proud that you all grew up to overturn those old beliefs. This is the truth of our hair!
Thank you so much. It’s so nice being in a community of people who actually understand and likely shared this same troubled past. Comments like these make me feel so supported, so thank you ♥️♥️♥️
Good to see you guys. Black hair grows ok. ☺️ I'll be at tailbone length next year. You guys are my hair goals. I'm a 4a/4b and I've been keeping my hair in protective styles most of the time because my hair likes to be left alone. I use my Revair dryer to keep my hair stretched before styling.
Cocoa, loved hearing about your hair journeys! It's cool to see how you've both handled your hair care routines. Can't wait to check out your straightened hair in the next video!
You both have beautiful hair, and I'm glad you found your way to wearing it totally natural. That stylist could have really damaged your confidence and self-worth so kudo's to you both for overcoming such negative talk!💜 💜 Although it's difficult to tell from looking at hair in a video, I think you are correct that your sis has more course strands than medium by the way it hangs and the fact that the Denman doesn't cause her enough breakage to affect length retention. The Denman is brutal on fine to medium strands.
Yessssss it’s crazy to think that most of us have had to go through a similar period like that in our lives. Black women are so resilient!!! ✨ Also yeah her hair hangs heavier than mine but I think that’s just because she literally has twice as much hair as me 😭
I would recommend the denman d38 paddle brush or the seamless brush/comb from kazmalaje. The paddle brush is faster, less damaging and a more thorough detangle than the regular denman. While the other tool is more thorough than a wide tooth comb and is more gentle and can also be pretty quick. It's like finger detangling with a tool. Lol!
Omg finger detangling with a tool?! Sign me up 😩 Thank you so much for the recommendation. Quite a few people have mentioned those brushes recently so I think I’m going to take the leap and try one ☺️
@@cocoainkyoto tehehe! Yes I lost way less hair with the kazmalaje brush comb and used it to help me get used to the idea of finger detangling my hair and getting past a growth plateau. Just a heads up that it has weight compared to most other detangling tools
I love her hair and it’s so lusciously THICK. Love your sisterly bond I have your type hair. I wish my sisters and I were close like that. I tell her what to do but she never listens. She got dreads 3 times and took it out. It doesn’t matter whose hair is longer u both have beautiful luscious LOCKS OR TRESSES. You’re both rapunzels in my book. You’re BOTH black and so so beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤ when u have daughters they will have two wise mothers. My daughter is 17 and I told her to watch your videos because she keeps touching her hair i said leave her hair for a month she won’t listen and is always touching it. We definitely hit a plateau and can’t get past bra strap length 😢😢
Subscribed! This channel is gold for growing long 4c hair. You both have lovely long hair, but when it comes to comparing length, you can't use body parts in measuring- you guys are different heights! Please tell us your hair lengths in inches instead. It seems like your hair is longer than your sister's, cuz you're taller. Waist length for me will be 20", tailbone will be 25", so that's my goal length. 😅
Thank you so much for subscribing and for the kind words💖 My sister and I will be linking up again at the end of this year, so maybe we can measure each other's hair with a measuring tape for you lol.
12:44 You could be talking about porosity. Both of your hair is about the same length but your roots have puffed up a little more. I think low porosity can look thicker(the actual strands). So it could be that your hair is Medium to high porosity whereas your sister's hair is medium to low porosity?
I would recommend the Denman D38 power paddle for your sister's hair. Or just check it out on UA-cam. I think I'll be better than the Denman styling brush. I think she'll like it.
I just looked it up and I’d never seen that brush before. I like that they don’t have the ball at the end of the bristles. I’ll let her know; thank you!
Thank you so much! We actually don’t stick to one particular shampoo and don’t use a special one for sensitive scalp so unfortunately I don’t have a good recommendation. I’m so sorry 😞
That’s great! I haven’t tried the Revair, but I can agree that blow drying our hair does make upkeep feel more manageable for sure 😮💨 In my opinion, straightening might be too much heat to balance health with manageability but blow drying does work for some (my sister being one)!

You ladies are gorgeous😍. The both of you have really beautiful hair. My hair grows like yours. I also noticed your sister's hair grows thick all the way up to her ends. Yours seems to grow in a V shape, I could be mistaken. Hair goals times two😊
Thank you so much! Yes her hair has barely any taper to it, but I think it’s likely due to handling vs genetics. My sis literally doesn’t do anything to her hair besides wash and twist it once a month so the breakage from manipulation is minimal. I manipulate my hair a ton compared to her: I blow it out several times a year, wear it out maybe once a month in twist/braid outs, style it for special occasions, etc. So my hair has accrued a lot more damage than hers, thus the tapering lol.
I typically use Oyin Handmade's conditioners and can recommend them, but my sister prefers the Camille Rose Natural's Almond Jai Twisting Butter as a moisturizer. Honestly, I think all 3 of them work excellently for 4c hair and can all be used in your regimen if you're still looking for staple products! :)
Yeah your sisters hair s Thicker and your hair is a thinner. You’re both b😢and it doesn’t matter who is longer. I believe my sisters hair is like your sisters she can grow it easily you’re both so beautiful and your daughters will be just as beautiful with such wise Mothers.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ my daughter is 17 and I was telling her to stop playing with her hair and leave it for a month she won’t listen. I used to have such long hair when it was relaxed but ever since going natural it hasn't grown. Maybe because i always have it in braids/wigs and never trim it??
I don’t think trimming is the issue; it’s likely a moisture issue. Even tho you’re protective styling in wigs/braids, your hair is probably not sufficiently moisturized so it breaks when you take down your protective style 😞 I’d recommend protective style if with just your own hair until you figure out how to keep it happily moisturized!❣️
