I'm lucky to have the newer x3 m40I LCI with cognac leather. It's a great all-rounder and BMW has improved some of the negatives listed in the video, like wider apple car play and new "hey BMW" voice assistant.
They are just brilliant these bmws. Had 5 series, 3 series touring, X5. All excellent, especially when you think about what you're going to replace it with, Sam ??

My Z4 with the same size screen is full screen on Apple Car Play so may be a settings thing as I can’t imagine they are using different systems across the range.
They are going through a controversial period at the moment, but despite the super weird advertisements, exterior designs that make you question what their designers are drinking and strange social media antics, BMW still make great products. I hope car enthusiasts don’t forget that. I’ve never been a big SUV guy, but if I chose to buy one, the X3 is right at the top of my shopping list. Same thing happens to me (on M340d) regarding the tailgate opening randomly. it's really worrying considering I often carry a lot of expensive gear in my car and no idea, that the boot is open. Furthermore have you ever had any trouble reversing at night? The new LED reversing lights are pitiful and you literally cannot see if you have to reverse down a country lane at night or manoeuvre in an unlit drive or car park (which I have to do every day). BMW claim that reversing lights are only to to alert other road users of your impending reverse movement, which is the most preposterous argument I have ever heard. There is clearly a developmental failure on these 2 issues and these need addressing by BMW.
Great review, thank you. I have the exact same year and model. Glad you addressed the recurring tire issue and rear hatch opening.
