The only reason I bought Samsung watches was the rotating bezel. I actually like the digital bezel. You do get used to it.... Believe me. I love it now. I would take the digital bezel over the rotating bezel not because the rotating one would get grimy and dirty for me. This is way smoother.... I almost didn't buy it because the lack of rotating bezel. I'm extremely glad I did get one. The lack of share charging is a disappointment....
Hopefully the make a software update where we can use the side buttons like you suggested in sports mode. That actually makes alot of sense. Lovin this watch tho
This watch has been nothing but awesome for me. As a long time Apple Watch User, this is the first time that buy a Smartwatch for Android that truly emulates the same AW premium experience. Only complaint I have is that the pinch gesture never works for me when I intend to use it, BUT it kept triggering my complications for some reason, so I had to disable. P.S: There has been 1, ONE true complaint for a misaligned display. The rest have been dumb people discovering that OLED displays move around a bit to prevent screen burn. The problem of the GWU is that the bezel has those giant arrows pointing down that makes it super obvious is you start to pixel peep the screen.
I like the look of the watch but having a garmin fenix 7x saphirre I can't see this watch being better. Especially since I get about 25 days of battery life when using gps every day for 3 hours.
I can't understand why they still have wireless charging, but don't let you charge with your phone. at that point, why not make it a faster pogo pin charger?
I had the frontier for like 5-6 years, and this is my first time upgrading watched since then. I can't say I used the rotating bezel. It's cool, but it got gunky and hard to turn after some time.
I had one and returned it. Unfortunately the live pace jumped around for me and there was no way to import running workouts or programs to the Watch. Other than that, I loved it. However, Garmin is still winning for me. Especially since I love that it gives me recommended running workouts.
Thanks Mike for the update on performance , I got my watch ultra on my Tmobile account on a good promo deal. I’m really liking the versatility. Love the looks of the watch.
I have the GW 6 classic swapped out the band and put a metal one on it and with the right face bit looks like a regular watch elegant and good enough to dress up with
For the middle button being randomly pressed, you can set it to only open the quick action with a double press which has helped me have way less accidental activations (I use it for the stopwatch)
Great video Mike! I'm eager to see an updated review on the Galaxy Watch 7. That was the watch that had a lot more issues with GPS accuracy, and I'm wondering if it has improved for people after any updates?
@@MikeOBrienMediaI know I'm kinda asking for a lot here but please review the pixel watch, you're one of the few people in my sub box that goes in depth on wearables

Great video I absolutely enjoyed it! This watch has been the best watch from Samsung I have ever owned. Connecting the scraps is super simple and it actually took a lot of thought in the process. I have the same issue where I thought it was hard and you had to put effort into connecting the watch band. Think about how the watch straps angle when connected that’s the key as you put them on ever so slightly angle them and they slide in like butter took me a while to realize but when I figured it out every click minimal effort. If Samsung can improve going forward from this point, they got a hit.
Really detailed video. I especially like the time you put into the graphing to check accuracy of heart rate and GPS. What's weird is that Samsung had briefing on the Galaxy Watch 3 under advanced features but now they don't. You were actually able to manually set a time for it to appear or have it automatically appear. Thanks again for your quality content!
I have one this is my first Smartwatch so I don't have anything to compare it to. But so far so good the only complaint I have is when they do an update you have to redo a lot of things on the watch like your gestures, since I'm a very active I'm also a mechanic I got a protective cover for mine, the first one was a kind that just snaps over The Watch, but they are complete garbage and will not stay on if you grab the watch to adjust it on your wrist it just comes off in your hand. The spigen case without the band is working very well. I also have a screen protector on it.
Aside from the watch, Samsung's theme for this year for all their "unpacked" products have been Quality Assurance nightmares. Paint on peoples phones peeling off, the screens breaking more easily, the watch buttons falling off and the sapphire glass scratching easily, the ring being unpreparable.
I'm glad I kept the 5PRO. Although I'd prefer it in silver, it has a good battery, sapphire glass, a titanium case, and tons of affordable band options. Have about 10, and with a titanium-colored metal band, it looks awesome-same with leather ones. Because it's minimalist, it can be both dressy and sporty. That's exactly the design what Samsung needed + the rotating bezel. A real watch looking smartwatch, that can be sporty and elegant. The Gear Sport what this looks like (not the crApple one) was not really hit for a reason.
I've been enjoying my Watch Ultra as I been getting consistent 5 days worth of battery life. Now I personally don't use none of the health features so those are disabled along with the permissions being denied as I use it as a smartwatch instead. The performance is smooth and it does what I needed to do. Now I did find the watch bands that are offered with it a complete joke, but that's what third party is for. I like magnetic bands.
Nice HR graphs... the real issue with Garmin wrist-worn devices is that a lot of them are physically large. This tends to cause poor fit/poor contact between the optical HR sensors and our skin. I understand why people like "giant" devices on their wrist (larger screens for activities where Garmin devices excel; eg. mapping), however it is astounding how poor most Garmin devices actually are for HR tracking during activities such as runs. The Forerunner series is built specifically for runners, and does such a great job with training readiness/training load, yet still struggles to achieve the kind of accuracy devices costing a lot less have little issue with. Comparing the Forerunner 165/265 to the Apple Watch SE 2, a chest strap is pretty much a necessity with the Forerunner devices... yet the SE 2 does a superb job. Apple's concave design of the HR sensor probably eliminates a lot of the issues the Garmin devices have. Interesting to see how well the Galaxy Watch did- I suspect a chest strap isn't necessary, but it would be interesting to see how it does with other activities, such as weightlifting.
Had it for a week to replace my 5 pro, really looked forward to it but really disappointed overall. Doesn't look classy at all even slightly cheap. Tried 3 styles of straps could not make it look anything but cheap in the flesh. Battery less than my 2 year old 5 pro. Ordered a oneplus 2 watch for 219 pounds just to see and it's everything I hoped the ultra would be. Lag free, accurate , classy build and 4 day battery. I do like the face you like and have put it on my oneplus using facer app. Heat rate very close to my chest strap when cycling too. I have 3 galaxy watches and an s24 ultra and really wanted to like the 7 ultra but wow it looks cheap in the flesh to me and friends i asked.
I actually feel the complete opposite about the bands - I feel like I have to press really hard to get them to release, but connecting them is a breeze. The trick is to pinch the connector by the ends using your thumb and forefinger, then apply pressure directly to both prongs that stick out of the ends. It will slip right in.
Great content. In my opinion, as for the strap wonce, it's in its not moving. It's locked in tight. Not like the apple Ultras band that the corners wiggle up and down. Samsungs strap assembly is the best on the market. As for the center button, I use the double press to activate whatever I want to use with it, so I bump it by accident nothing happens. Battery life to me is fantastic, I only have to charge my watch twice a week. I'll take that any day over my watch 4 44 mm that I had to charge every day and 2 hours. What a breath of fresh air.

Hi, great vid as always. One big thing omitted unfortunately from most reviews though - if you use the watch in standalone LTE mode in a relatively low signal area, it overheats and goes into sos mode within 3/4 minutes. The Apple Watch does not. For context, I flip between the S24 ultra and 15 pro max regularly (I love both and stops me being bored) along with both watches. Have sent the Samsung Watch back… Now there are a few cases of this reported it needs someone like you to highlight the issue in your professional videos. Keep up the great work. Hello. Have any of you used this watch in the pool or in open water? Is the accuracy of the heart rate sensor reliable in water? In the pool, is the gyroscope reliable for counting distance? Is the GPS functional in open water? Thank you
Great Video Thank you for this! 👍 I really like the Watch 7 Ultra! Miss rotating bezel, but in general it does what i want. BAD: The button change options are too limited. We should be able to reprogram the middle button for ANY Option on the watch not just a couple choices that Samsung chooses. Battery Life: I've done 7 battery tests over four weeks. [My use case is running/walking/gym work outs 3-5x a week, use it for sleep, music while running, and general use all the time.] Battery life: 53hours per charge when AOD(always on display) is OFF. ~38hours when AOD was on.
Great video, as usual. You use the orange accents watch, but you use the black strap. You think, that grey version will match better with different colors and styles than the orange one? Just an aesthetics question
Thanks! Honestly, it's such a personal preference thing. I liked the dark watch and dark strap combo and I thought the accents looked cool. I imagine any combo of straps and body from the Samsung launch will probably look pretty decent
I love the watch, but two and a half days of battery life my ass. I charge it to 100%, go to the gym for 2 hours, and it's at 52% when I get back home with everything on. My Apple Watch Ultra lasts truly two and a half days with everything on. I still like the Galaxy watch ultra than the Apple one though. And it looks awesome with a good 3rd party watchface, and matching metal band.
I really like the idea of using the double-pinch gesture with the Ultra, but I’m worried it might accidentally stop my alarm without me realizing it. When I’m sleep-deprived, I sometimes turn off or snooze alarms without even remembering and then fall back asleep. To avoid being late for work, I’ve started using multiple alarms on both my phone and watch, including apps that make me solve a math problem to wake up. My concern is that stopping an alarm with the gesture could become a muscle memory habit, and I might not even notice it happening. I’d love for Samsung to add an option to choose which apps can use the double-pinch gesture. It would be great to enable it for things like the camera shutter, phone calls, or other features, but I definitely wouldn’t want it to stop an alarm !
I've noticed the same with my GW7. Had to turn off gestures so I don't accidentally turn off my alarm, and like you, I've set two alarms. Never had this issue with my GW6. But turning off gestures seems to have fixed it for now.
Fix work profiles on galaxy watches. I can’t get any calendar notifications / widgets for work which requires google calendar ONLY, and many apps are missing like garage controls, vehicle controls, etc.
I just can't get sleep tracking to work. It takes about 2 hours before it detects my sleep. And often has 1-2 hour gaps throughout the night. I've watching about all videos on settings with no help. I even shaved the back of my hand and tried heart rate monitor gel. I guess I'll reach out to Samsung. My 5 Pro never had this issue. Otherwise, I love the watch!
I love my galaxy watch ultra.. I’m actually using it on my iPhone.. which later syncs to my galaxy fold6 but I get the basic functions which is all I need
After more than a month pre-ordering the watch I haven't received my watch yet. Samsung customer service just lies. The same store that I'm supposed to pick it up, has the watch for same day pick up. But samsung is just lies by saying that it's in backorder. I'm thinking of canceling my order and moving on.
Samsung's after-sales is terrible. My Ultra watch came defective, takes 4 hours to charge and the compass sensor doesn't work properly. Instead of changing the watch for a new one, they canceled the purchase and now I'll have to wait for the voucher chargeback to buy again.
As an person with adhd you'd thinkI'dd want a gimmicy rotating bezel, but nope, i dont. Im not rotating when running because im jogging, and the balancing act if rotating is well, not happening.
I've noticed my action button is starting become a little loose. Ive seen a few people showing that their crown fell off. I've had mine for a month now and so far so good.
I am grateful that Samsung FINALLY put dual-band GPS in. The only thing keeping me from switching away from Apple was how horrid Samsung's GPS accuracy used to be.
Super solid review bosssman! I keep bouncing back and forth between apple and samsung. Ended up getting this watch and it has be awesome. Your cons are spot on - hoping for a rotating bezel soon. Keep on keeping on mannn!!
This is a question regarding the polar heart rate monitor who made it one of the best heart rate trackers around ? like who gave it that title ?what type of testing was it put under to give it that prestigious title of one of the top heart rate monitors in the market? I've always wondered how do we know that Apple or Samsung trackers aren't actually much more accurate than the polar one?
Watches use photoplethysmography methods (optical LED based sensors) to read your HR. The Polar H10 has electrodes on your chest that actually read the electrical signals of your heart (Electrocardiogram, aka ECG) ECG is well researched and considered to be one of the best ways to read a heart rate in the medical community. Check out this source for more information: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19848857/
I loved the design of the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra box. I don't think it looks anything like the iPhone's. To me, it actually resembles the Patek Philippe Aquamarine with orange straps. But just because the orange color is similar to the iPhone's, I think people are being very limited in their thinking. Now, the straps that Samsung made for this watch, oh my, they are terrible! They are just awful. There's no way.
I have the 5 pro and get the same battery life, but I won't upgrade again until they put rotating bezel back on it. I have a Gear S3 with it and sorely miss that feature.
I also got it. I like it. BUT i was not aware that the metal around the display it NOT titanium. Already getting scratches.. That's actually a downgrade for me. Durability was supposed to be number one in this new one.
with student discount, I can get it for 500 euros. It's tempting, but I'm gonna wait for the OneUI 6 software update to hit my watch4 and then I will decide if I might buy it or not
I see a LOT of people complaining about it not having a rotating bezel. I'm honestly not understanding what the big deal is. Can somebody enlighten me?
For me, the rotating bezel makes it feel like a real analog watch somehow. Like those old watches that had the synchro thing, I don't know it's hard to explain 🤗
Actually, the S watch, which is the Actually the designed it copied. Was out before the apple watch. Samsung isn't the newbies to the watch game. Remember, they made one that took pictures, lol
I have to honestly disagree rotating crowns attract geese and debris that can cause them to become gritty in movement. I suffered this with my watch 3. They also get moved frequently causing unwanted activation of watch contributing to battery drain.
Great video with very good useful information 👍 👌 Thanks. I'm hoping to get this watch soon. I'm still rocking the w4c and w3c . Really wish they didn't get rid of the rotating bezel. Love this new look of the watch. The only part samsung copied was the stupid orange button and band, lol.
dude can nitpick..strap sticking out from the buckle? display is not properly readable when u wear glasses...etc? other than that good review...thanks for nothing being a generic review like others where they rant about specs etc.
You pay 3 times as much for the Ultra watch and it is basically the same as the Classic, but the Classic is better because it is compatible with a lot more watch faces. I feel ripped off 😕
Have mine for a month and I'm not happy with the battery, I have to charge it every day. My previous one, the Classic 6 lasted longer with the same settings. If I charge it at night at 100% and get up in the morning it is at least 15% off without having used it. I'm thinking of buying a Classic 6 again lol
Waoo, that's tough luck u got there. Order mine in white color last week on the 16th and got it on Tuesday, the 20th. Sorry u had to have such experience.
Wonder if someone can help? If you are just using the Ultra in Bluetooth mode (not set up a data plan yet) does it use whatever connection your phone is using? So if my phone is on Wifi does the watch use that Wifi even if wifi is switched off on the watch? I noticed the other day I had apps to update on the watch and the Wifi on the watch was off but connected to my phone on Wifi. The updates were slow but when I turned Wifi on, on the watch they were updated very quickly. Just thought having Wifi switched on on the watch would drain the battery if not connected to Wifi (when out and about for example)
Think of your Bluetooth connection between phone and watch like it's a wire or second monitor on your desktop . Your watch only butlers the phone unless it's doing a stand alone operation that needs no connection . Yes Wi-Fi by itself on the watch does use quite a bit more battery when active but you can set it to auto to save battery . Hope that helps .

I think having a rotating bezel would compromise the durability. I miss it too but I can kind of see why they didn't include it.
Are you using LTE as well?
Did you check the blood pressure accuracy?
If I just needed a smartwatch and not the sport watch , I'd definitely grab this one
Are you getting 2,5 days battery life with AOD?
I just can't get sleep tracking to work. It takes about 2 hours before it detects my sleep. And often has 1-2 hour gaps throughout the night. I've watching about all videos on settings with no help. I even shaved the back of my hand and tried heart rate monitor gel. I guess I'll reach out to Samsung. My 5 Pro never had this issue. Otherwise, I love the watch!
Definitely waiting for the pice to drop! $500 or below
Should have pre ordered deals were great.
Well the Watch6 Classic didn't drop that much yet. IDK
Got one for like $360. $200 trade in for a watch5 and $90 off for idk some instant discount
@@Guitarocker493 now that's what I'm talking about!!
How do you like it so far?
I love my galaxy watch ultra.. I’m actually using it on my iPhone.. which later syncs to my galaxy fold6 but I get the basic functions which is all I need
After more than a month pre-ordering the watch I haven't received my watch yet. Samsung customer service just lies. The same store that I'm supposed to pick it up, has the watch for same day pick up. But samsung is just lies by saying that it's in backorder. I'm thinking of canceling my order and moving on.
Cancel it and reordered it for pick up. That's what I did.
Samsung's after-sales is terrible. My Ultra watch came defective, takes 4 hours to charge and the compass sensor doesn't work properly. Instead of changing the watch for a new one, they canceled the purchase and now I'll have to wait for the voucher chargeback to buy again.
@edu_hunk5199 That's not good. Samsung needs to get it together. Or they're going to lose a lot of customers 🙄
If you adjust the strap properly then you don't have the big bit sticking out. Just saying 🙂
As an person with adhd you'd thinkI'dd want a gimmicy rotating bezel, but nope, i dont. Im not rotating when running because im jogging, and the balancing act if rotating is well, not happening.
This is also not a classic as normally the rotating bezels are on the classic models.
I've noticed my action button is starting become a little loose. Ive seen a few people showing that their crown fell off. I've had mine for a month now and so far so good.
Keeping my watch 6 pro. It gets about 2.5 days on a charge. Going to just switch them out.
Hey Mike, if you press down on the watch band release button before attaching the watch band it will attach with ease! 👍🏾
I am grateful that Samsung FINALLY put dual-band GPS in. The only thing keeping me from switching away from Apple was how horrid Samsung's GPS accuracy used to be.
What is the name of the watch face at 3:39. Thanks
Super solid review bosssman! I keep bouncing back and forth between apple and samsung.
Ended up getting this watch and it has be awesome.
Your cons are spot on - hoping for a rotating bezel soon.
Keep on keeping on mannn!!
Thanks for the positive feedback! I appreciate the support
The Polar H10 has electrodes on your chest that actually read the electrical signals of your heart (Electrocardiogram, aka ECG)
ECG is well researched and considered to be one of the best ways to read a heart rate in the medical community.

Wait can you not remapp the buttons?
I loved the design of the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra box. I don't think it looks anything like the iPhone's. To me, it actually resembles the Patek Philippe Aquamarine with orange straps. But just because the orange color is similar to the iPhone's, I think people are being very limited in their thinking. Now, the straps that Samsung made for this watch, oh my, they are terrible! They are just awful. There's no way.
Look at all the fucking bots plaguing the comments in all the videos.
I wish I knew how to get rid of them. UA-cam has struggled with that problem for as long as I can remember
@@MikeOBrienMedia seems worse more than ever lately!
I have the 5 pro and get the same battery life, but I won't upgrade again until they put rotating bezel back on it. I have a Gear S3 with it and sorely miss that feature.
Plus excellent sound and vibrations.
Its good to see a third button. But is it remappable to start a workout?
Yes
Is there a way to avoid fake step counts?
am geting arroun 40 as a sleep score and my energy score is very near it so yeah i dont know if samsung is more optimistik :D
I also got it. I like it. BUT i was not aware that the metal around the display it NOT titanium. Already getting scratches.. That's actually a downgrade for me. Durability was supposed to be number one in this new one.
with student discount, I can get it for 500 euros. It's tempting, but I'm gonna wait for the OneUI 6 software update to hit my watch4 and then I will decide if I might buy it or not
I'm really liking this watch. Looks and fee's great!
What fees? Are you talking about the AI Fees? That's started??
Your a apple guy trying to give a review on something you don't vibe to. It's all good.
Thanks for the detailed review.
FYI u can change that middle button to a double press
The strap is a nightmare if you are disabled in the hands.
How is the calorie burned accuracy versus the Garmin?
My watch active2 had a daily brief etc. Weird that the newer ones don't?
Samsung had the orange band first but it was nylon
Where is the trackback feature located?
Would it be worth getting this or the pixel watch 3? I have a Pixel phone and wonder if not having a Samsung phone what features would I be losing.
I had the pixel watch one and it got ruined from shoveling sand. Not digging in it with my have it anything just shoveling. I'll never own another one
I also have a pixel and you won't be missing much other than a slightly easier pairing.
Actually, the S watch, which is the Actually the designed it copied. Was out before the apple watch. Samsung isn't the newbies to the watch game. Remember, they made one that took pictures, lol
Can plug the charging puck into your phone.
A rotating crown was a missed opportunity. A major oversight in my opinion.
I guess we can only hope they add it next year
I have to honestly disagree rotating crowns attract geese and debris that can cause them to become gritty in movement.
What ?? Mine between 3 and 5 days. Are you watching Netflix on the watch ?? lol
@@NunoFPV Nope, pornhub ;)
Not sure wby people need to track on a daily basis. I get four days and still k ow how many miles i ran from the watch.
I've been waiting more than a month for my watch ultra to arrive
Waoo, that's tough luck u got there. Order mine in white color last week on the 16th and got it on Tuesday, the 20th. Sorry u had to have such experience.
Just get a ring kit on amson use it and return it
How many people charge on the back of their phone? 2.5 watt takes 8 hours.
I do when I travel or camp. My phone charges off off usb/power bank while my watch is on the back of my Ultra. 1 less thing to deal with.
Just order the white one
Buy the galaxy watch 6 classic instead
Maybe the heart rate is accurate but the blood pressure measurement is very inaccurate
Hmmm swap from GW5 Pro to GW7U ?
