Got a Boston terrier a year ago and this quiz is spot on. Only difference is she rarely barks even when someone is at door and we’ve been fortunate enough to not have any separation anxiety issues. My daughter also wanted a French bulldog and we compromised. Thank god I haven’t had to pull poop out of booty yet. Lol
The last 3 months have been, well kinda boring, without a boston in my life. No cooking 2 times a day, no mandatory walks, and no constant companion. Hopefully picking up a 12 year old rescue at the end of the month, can't wait to spoil this little girl!
Mike, so sorry for your loss. It's a year later but it doesn't get any easier. However, rescues have a way of rescuing us right back don't they? Hope you got the chance to spoil that little girl! 🌞
I’ve never been much of a “dog person”. I didn’t dislike dogs, I just never had much interest in having one. For the sake of my wife, who has been a dog lover her entire life, began priming me with the thought of getting a dog. Well loving my wife as I do, I finally agreed to welcoming a dog into our home. She told me that she was considering a Boston terrier, a breed I had never heard of. I initially flinched at the word “terrier”, and the first thing that came to mind was a little yapping, snapping spoiled ankle biter, with a nasty attitude. I couldn’t have been more wrong. “Lucy”, was nearly four months old when we brought her home, and I fell head over heels in love with her, immediately. She is so sweet as well as surprisingly smart. She has been with us for a little more than two years now, and I can’t imagine life without her. If you are not familiar with Boston’s, you have no idea what you’re missing. I never knew that I could love a dog as I love her, she means everything to us.
I absolutely love this breed! My Boston Tyler passed away 2 years ago and I felt like I would betray him if I purchased another Boston. Now I’ve found myself researching Boston terrier breeders 😅😅😅
If a Boston terrier is gassy it’s because of food. I’ve had Bostons for many years and have been able to almost completely eliminate gas problems by adjusting their food. Also, of six Bostons I’ve never had to pull poop. Fantastic little dogs. My favorite of all pups.
Agreed, most gas is because of diet or treats. Also the transition of different proteins can cause gas for a time. My beagles would get gas whenever fed any type of sea food diet or treats. So it was given in moderation.
Fifth generation Boston Terrier owner here! They make great additions to any home & are devoted family members! For me, looking into Rescue Groups & local shelters helped me adopt two amazing "older" Bossies - who then blessed us with over a decade of kisses, cuddles & hilarious fun!
Great video. I answered Yes to ALL 25 questions. Boston Terriers are a family tradition. My father owned two when he was young. He gave me my first Boston Terrier in 1957 when I was 11. Since then, I have owned many Boston Terriers and currently have FOUR. I have always enjoyed them and consider them the ideal dog.
This video has helped so much. I have always wanted a dog but couldn’t find the right breed. Then I found the Boston terrier. Beautiful breed,so loveable and just the perfect breed for me and my family ❤
I’ve always had Boxers and love them dearly. The one I have now, he is 85 pounds of pure muscle, and is a handful at times now that I’m getting older. It sounds like Boxers and Boston’s have very similar traits. Later in my 70’s, I might graduate to the smaller Boston Terrier. Thanks for the info.
I had my Boston in 2009, back then I would have answered yes to all these questions. But I gradually adapted to all of them. She is the best dog I ever had.
Cuddles! At night my Boston Terrier will crawl under the blanket and flop down right in front of my chest SO that I will cuddle him to keep him warm. Then when he gets too warm he makes these cute old man noises and leopard crawls out the blanket and flops by my head. They have no concern for your personal bubble but it's too cute to dislike!
I subscribed to your channel because I am about to be a Boston Terrier daddy. I have a 13 1/2 year old teacup chihuahua, and her companion passed away over the summer. My cousin’s stepson has a breeding pair, and their pair just had their first litter. I’m getting their gray and white female pup. I’m excited, but realized I know little about the breed.
Thanks for sharing Pamela. Yes, I totally agree. You can find a list of Boston Terrier Rescues in the US here... www.bostonterriersociety.com/boston-terrier-rescues-u-s-and-canada/
I have three cats and there were a few times when I had to clean their butts and... yes, pull poop out of their butts, so that's not a problem for me. The one question that made me hesitate was the "Do others in your family want one" My mom HATES snoring animals. The snores don't bother me, but they irritate her a LOT. Other than that, I think I should be fine with a Boston!
All 3 of my bostons bark at everyone and everything. They will usually stop when we tell them to. But if they even hear someone anywhere near our apartment they bark until we tell them to stop. Or the people, vehicle or whatever it is goes away.
I just got my first BT & man why didn’t I ever have one sooner in my life!! My buggy is the best thing ever.. he’s very very stubborn already & he’s only 11 weeks.. 🤣 he’s been pretty awesome about going potty on his potty pads, but sometimes he just don’t want to at all.. and when I say “no, that’s bad & put him on the potty pad, he literally gives me attitude (which makes me laugh) and barks at me.. so of course I can’t be mad at him anymore 🤷🏼♀️🤣
Does the sneeze sound like like a puppy choking? Some have told us to get a slow feeder, others said moisten his food. Since we added warm water to his dry food, he has stopped.
My Dachshund Allie died 8-23-21 and he use to pass gas and OMG it use to wake me up!, my vet said I could give him Beano and never had a problem after that, I miss my baby so much, tomorrow we pick up our 10 week old Boston Terrier, Mylo... cross my fingers everything goes well, wish me luck
Agree that males are more needy. Advise to neuter at the 6 month age. After they get older they spray and hump and preform all the deeds except having a litter. I love them all. Just like having a hand full of kids. They get jealous of one another even one of my cats. My oldest male will slowly inch between the cat and me untill he’s next to me. They are super easy to train. They love to learn things. If chewing on things starts up just give them their own toys. Take what ever they were chewing on and tell them no then give them their toy and play with them with it. Put ear plugs in if snoring bothers you. Most do snore. They are so funny. J. B.
I have just discovered your channel, and yes I subscribed! I answered yes to all of these questions but I had no idea they were so energetic! We are working thru that tho and he is the sweetest dog that I have ever had. The only thing is tho, I can't get him potty trained! He is a year old and I can't seem to get thru to him. Does anyone else have this problem?
Take the dog out after food, sleep and play - even if the dog don´t show signs of needing it. I promise, it will work. If not, the dog might have to go to the vet abd be checked.
Omg YES I have a 11 week old pup & he is so stinking stubborn about peeing on his pad.. he usually does really awesome most days, but some days he’s total opposite and won’t go on it.. lol I just laugh bc mine will give me attitude if I say “no that’s bad”.. he’ll bark at me and sit down on his pad.. 🤣🤣
I’m getting a Boston Terrier puppy on April 1st, 2021. She is only 1 1/2 weeks old right now. My husband and I are seniors and we have a chihuahua that is 9 years old in May. She’s rotten to the core. This is what scares me about a new puppy is getting the two to get along. I sure hope I can. Any suggestions?
I grew up with two dogs and two cats all times none of them were Boston Terriers but I love animals right now in my apartment I have one cat she's about 5 months old and I'm thinking about getting a dog preferably one that's good with cats and being in an apartment
Boston terriers, or rather breeders, seem to move away from the extremely flat face lately. This is just an observation I have made, can anyone confirm this trend and maybe give some insight? I have been thinking of getting a boston terrier for a while, but i am worried about the potential suffering and health issues that comes with the flat face. That kind of extreme feature also tells me the dogs have been very selectively bred, and likely carry other invisible genetic defects as well. Besides, I don't find it very visually appealing. Is there a good way to asess if a puppy is prone to develop breathing difficulties or other issues? Are there different sizes of boston terrier, is there much variation within litters? I am looking for a dog that is a little bit more on the robust side, wich would be more suitable for the kind of life I live. They seem to be great dogs. I really need a dog that's not agressive, doesn't look scary, that I can tke with me during my work day and that doesn't have a strong instinct to go off hunting by himself.
Maybe a Boston mix breed would be ideal. I agree about the flat face, it used to be a longer nose and they bred it too flat. I hope they address this in the breed going forward. Just like they are having to adjust the Bulldog breed's breeding as they are suffering and failing so much in their current state.
My Boston Terrier Harley does not like to be picked up or held or cuddled he is the only dog I have ever had that does not like this he hates it is there anyone else that has ever experience this was their Boston Terrier other than that he is been a great addition to our family and would never want any other dog other than a Boston Terrier they are great family pets he is a 10 when it comes to all the questions the Boston Terrier Society Channel could you show a video of why Boston Terrier does not like to be held or picked up

Boston’s do bark though 😱
you know how you said how Bostons don't shed a lot? Well, mine loses A LOT of hair everywhere, what can I do about this?
Only 2 wrong and it was barking when the door is knocked on we have people over everyday and the other one was pulling poop out the butt lol
Easy decision, Bostons are very similar to Pugs :)

Forgot question #26, do you want a dog who judges you??? 😂
Off topic what is a good dog vitamin for a dog that eats mostly meat
I'm not sure. Does anyone else have an answer to this question?
Boston's r long term...they need eye surgery around 11 or 12...mine became blind at 15....he will b 16 March 20....he still crazy......if u travel alot....dont get one
If you answer yes to all 25 questions then *_MAYBE_*
Are you right for a Boston Terrier?
My Boston loves certain skin lotions! She especially loves extra virgin coconut cream! She tries to completely lick it off my legs if I use it!
I want one. Im 39.. I deserve on dammit!
sad that these are basic quesions for anyone wanting a dog.......we need more restraont with these breeds
I guess I will pass on getting this breed of dog not interested in a dog snoring or farting and I definitely don't want to pull shit out of anything or anybody's Ass not even me.
