My 12 year old Boston Terrier Maxwell is the love of my life. He loves people and hardly ever shows aggression except with other dogs. He tolerates our Beagle Maisie but any other dog he attacks, especially bigger dogs. He is a 100 lb dog in a 19 lb dog’s body. And even at 12 he has the energy of a four year old. Our BT is 1.5 years old and 22lbs, not gassy at all. He gets mostly dry kibble with some occasional human treats like peanut butter (natural) and cheese.
This is one of the finest pets that anyone could own rest assured you will love your pet with all your heart we own one and will never have another breed
I love to hear stories about other people's BT. Our two are potty trained by using the bells that hang from the door. They are no longer allowed to have plushies as they last less than an hour. The are little fart monsters lol. They love to visit while you are using the restroom. We both work from home and they are our little shadows moving from one dog to the other under our desks. We love our Boston's Joel and Mandy :)

This was a great video. As far as her dog being loyal and loving at home, but when she’s out of the house she’s obsessed with people and especially kids, that’s not just a Terrier thing or because he was around kids when he was young. My Miniature Dacshund acts the same way when We take him out. He literally cries when he sees kids and babies. And we got him from a pet store when he was 10 weeks. We kept him in the house for the first six weeks. He still had more shots to get. When we finally took him out, he was crying to meet anyone he saw especially babies. He will be a year old in a couple of weeks and he’s still the same. Hopefully he will grow out of it in the near future.
Can't wait til we get our boston terrier 2021. Help watching your videos We had been looking for a boston terrier ..2 were scammers glad we had questions about them. Finally found a great breeder. We are on the list too get around April 2021..
Bloom is extra adorable! I’m getting a male pup in two weeks. I haven’t had a BT pup in 15 years and my last male BT was in late 1980s. I’m excited!! Had to say goodbye to my sweet 10 y.o. BT rescue due to Congestion Heart Failure
my boston is the same way and hes 3 years old now, still full of energy still farting still trying to be friends with everyone and still stubborn as ever. never a dull moment
There are toys for “thrashers.” I just found one for my Boston. It’s a Bark Box toy that’s a sloth with really long arms & it’s been holding up. She really loves it. I found it @ Walmart.
Simply love my boston brindle terrier Apollo and life would really sux with out him I'm in a wheelchair and he is a very good guy when we go out for walks
I originally wanted a Pomeranian, but after watching your videos, this is now my favorite dog... which I plan to buy this Christmas (2021). Yahoo! Liked and subscribed! Thank you for sharing, Sir! I'll be watching more of your videos. 😀
What a beautiful Boston. I have had 2. My last one passed away in Feb 2020, she was 11. The first Boston we had was aggressive. The second one was very lovey to everyone. Two different personalities. Someday I'll have another one. Both our Boston's were bigger ones, about 25 lbs.
My girl Roxxie is 2 and 15.4 pounds. My 2 boys at the bridge were 27lbs & 32lbs. I like that she’s so small, I can travel with her on a plane as she fits in the carriers. If she gets tired on a hike she’s not heavy to carry. I absolutely love this breed & I will have one or more always.
The Boston foster I had at one time weighed a solid 30 pounds and he was HUGE. World class snuggler though. Gotta love the snorting, snoring, burping and farting. Reminds me of my ex.
@@antonspjut4953 Bostons and Frenchies are the only dogs I'll ever have, especially now that I'm older and require a diversion for my own aromatic indiscretions.
@@heathersimpson5771 the one i had with my ex, had cherry eye in both eyes. To the point he could not close his eyes when he slept. That was fixed via surgery and their nasal passages seem to be blocked. We fixed that too so his snoring was not as bad.....still snored like a person though.
Great interview and insight. How sweet is Haleigh! What a nice girl and it really showed through how much she loves her dog. I like the name they gave her too.
I have a frenchton and she mostly has most of the Boston personality traits imagine Frenchie face on a Boston lol she is a ball of energy still a work in progress with the pulling and biting her leash but she is a very social dog who loves other kids and dogs overall they are a great dog and will compete and family ❤❤❤❤
I have a Boston/ Boxer mix. She was given to me. Greatest dog ever. Brindle and White. She's not a Barker either. OMG! Mine is also obsessed with other dogs. She's also taught me how to fetch. Lol. She's great for me and my apt. Pricilla is 30 lbs. Or muscle. Stubborn, very smart, very loving. Great disposition.
Our Boston is 18 months old. Jock really chews, like EVERYTHING. Destroyed a cell phone which was lying on the couch and ruined my son’s very expensive reading glasses.. TWICE. I understand that they are not outside dogs, but due to the frustration of the chewing we feel forced to keep him outside more as he just is destructive when inside the house. We would let him be with us in the room watching a movie, and he would get up and go fetch something he’s not suppose to chew. The kids play with him daily, he’s got lots of chew toys, we just don’t know what to do anymore. We love Jock, my husband is not a big dog lover and the fact that he’s chewing everything is not making it easy. We felt we wanted to get a family dog and we like everything about him. Chewing is just causing a lot of stress for everyone. We don’t allow him to climb on our couches or beds which makes cuddling a little difficult. I cuddle with them on the carpet. Any advice will be greatly appreciated
My Boston is two years old and is absolutely obsessed with other dogs! to the point where he gets frustrated if they don't show the same level of excitement as him
I am trying to decide about breed. I LOVE THIS INTERVIEW! I have always been a Doberman only person. My Doberman passed. I am a caregiver full time with my mother with ALS and elderly father. They do not want a large dog in case they had to help although I am home 24/7 except for church. Dobermans are Velcro dogs. Zeb slept with me. I am lost without my pup (Dilated Cardiomyopathy). Her dog sounded like a small Zeb. YOUR THOUGHTS ARE VALUABLE TO ME.
What a great interview! Thank you so much. We are ready to adopt our first Boston and have been doing a lot of research. I'd love to know how to adopt one from a reputable breeder rather than a puppy mill. We are struggling with this. Thanks! I'm really enjoying all of your videos.
I don't have a breeder recommendation. But here is a video where I point people when they start their search for a Boston Terrier puppy...ua-cam.com/video/hWw_XgRuMW4/v-deo.html
Toys - with my girl (and I recommended this to my sister with her Staffie) - Balls and anything that bounces are OUR toys. As in I'll go out and throw for her to play fetch or chase around etc. But I NEVER leave her alone with anything that bounces because their prey drive kicks in and they just laser focus and will chase a bouncing ball through anything - your TV for eg or even worse if your outdoors like maybe under a car. They just lose all sense of danger chasing bouncing toys. So I'll play with them with her, but when she's alone she can chew on or wrestle with her thousand other NON-BOUNCING toys. This advice really settled down my sisters Staffie too. Don't go out and leave your dog alone with a ball or bouncing toy in your house or you might find it smashed to pieces when you get home.
Hello, My Boston Terrier, Luda, is fully grown and only weighs 13 pounds. I accepted him from my friend after she got a Schnoodle puppy. She wanted a dog that barks. Luda is really quiet and laidback. He is really affectionate and attentive. He will bark every now and then. He barked at the new Schnoodle puppy while I was holding him. I put the puppy down and he stopped barking. The puppy wanted to play, but Luda started avoiding him. Now, Luda LOVES sucking on his toys, bed, and blankets. My friend would say that he was sucking on his thumb. LOL! Luda has a pop up puppy playpen. He knows it’s his playpen. Speaking of the bell… my Chihuahua used to ring the desk bell that was on the floor. I think it’s only took less than an hour to train him to tap on the bell to go outside in the backyard to go potty. I miss him so much! My girlfriend know how much I miss and loved him, so she gave me Luda. I used to play every time I visited them on the island. Luda is the perfect dog for me!!!
I've had 4 BT's in my life. First one,Ginny, when I was 5 yrs old. There will never be better all around canine companion than she was when I was growing up. Talk about tough? Loyal?smart? I'm 68 now, still miss that dog. Catch anything thrown in the air within 3 feet of her to miss was extremely rare.only thing she wouldn't eat that I ever knew of was ....lettuce. loved glaze donuts. Had to spell the word around her ,she hear "doeney," she go into zoomies..
I have a 5months old Pug named Frank and his nothing like normal pugs once read all the internet info 🙂his personality is matching exactly what you both described in Boston terrier 😂 and we are getting our little Boston Today, I'm excited and ready for some more training 😁😁as Frank is great with his training! Great video with really good tips 🙂
You're not kidding about the non-barking. My aunt's Boston got trapped between the fridge and oven for 8 hours and never made a sound! they thought she was lost forever!
I have owned bostons since 1993 I have had 8 bostons I have had two litters as well bought half of them rescued the other half. The biggest was 42 pounds smallest was 8 pounds.
I'd recommend the smaller chuckit balls...my dog loves playing fetch (I didnt even have to train him to). I used bigger balls for like a year until I got the smaller ones...now its actually kind of fun to see him able to catch it off of a bounce in his mouth (couldnt catch the big ones, although he could pick them up). In the summer DEFINITELY always have water on you for these little guys, they overheat very easily.
The Boston i had with my ex, which i got him for her loved bigger dog's over smaller dog's. I will plan on getting one for myself in the future. And the tearing the neck out of his stuffed toys, that was a lamb chop
Basic obedience is easy if you start early. Milo our 12 year old picked up basics like DOWN (not sit , down on your chest), whoa (stop) and AHHHH (no). Milo rarely needs any of these commands but while chasing his toy, if it ever gets away and goes onto the road, the AHHHH totally cured him and now he refuses to go off the property while off leash. He constantly gets praised by neighbours walking by that he will go up to the edge of the road but won't step foot on the road even though he desperately wants them to pet him.
Lol.. your baby must be related to my Brad! He LOVES other dogs. When I say "another dog?" He goes nuts! Loves to shred toys too! Everything you have said about your girl, applies to my 4 year old Boston, Brad!!
I have a question. How big does a Boston have to get where they are no longer prey to Hawks? My Boston is three months old probably weighs about 6 lbs but cannot leave her alone in a fenced yard yet due to Hawks in the subdivision. I can't stay out there with her all day and she absolutely loves the spring weather
Hi I just found your videos and suscribed. Very very interesting thank you! I have a wonderful BT ( 1st time ) My Dolly is 2 and a half years old. I will definitely have questions to ask you... First question that just occured to me : do they usually like swimming? I put her a couple of times in a lagoon when she was younger but she didn t seem happy and she quickly got out... Do they need time to get used to be in the water ? I will try again when I hve the chance to... but was wondering ... I see them on utube playing with water and jumping in pools...
Thank you. Yes I would say in generally they like swimming. Here is an article I wrote on the Boston Terrier Society about Boston's smwimming...www.bostonterriersociety.com/can-boston-terriers-swim/
@@BostonTerrierSociety thank you very much for your answer. I read your article and it made me realise that I had to introduce her gradually to the pond or swimming pool or sea. Your articles and videos are very helpful, concise, and to the point. A pleasure to follow. Thank you.
Hubby and I just got our first boston two weeks ago and we love him!! He sleeps through the night, hardly barks, and loves cuddling. Only problem is... he is a land shark! He strongly prefers chewing on our flesh over his toys. We tried bite inhibition the first few days, but our yelping seems to egg him on to bite harder. Is this normal and when will he grow out of it? Any advice? He's almost 10 weeks.
Bella grew out of that stage but I know their teeth can be really sharp. I really liked the recommendations this trainer mentioned in this video there are a few different options he mentions. ua-cam.com/video/IAfafjM6XyM/v-deo.html
@@Xx2abattery Yes he grew out of it! He's 15 months now, and he was fully past biting us by about 5 or 6 months. We love the little guy, but had some serious buyer's remorse those first few weeks haha. I promise it gets much better. Now, if I put my hand in his mouth, he won't bite down on it. Now if I could just get him to stop jumping on guests so much 🤪😅
My Bostons have had quite different personalities. My old girl was very gentle and quite reserved with strangers outside. My 9 month old puppy loves everyone. She is potty trained but I have to warn anyone that comes near her that she will pee on them! Usually it lands on the ground. So far she has christened the mail man, the UPS and FedEx guys, my neighbor, my step kids, the septic tank engineer, the guy who looks after our fish tank and even the dog trainers. Fortunately she is incredibly cute so it has not caused a problem and we keep her away from anyone that might have a issue. Yes, and she actually graduated from her beginner doggy training class, although she got that trainer on a later visit! We took her to swim class which she loved. There was a $200 charge if the dog were to poop in the pool. Fortunately there were no accidents other than peeing on the swim instructor before she got in the pool so no charge Lol. We are going to try more classes to hopefully get her to greet people more calmly......
We got a rehomed Boston Terrier who was around 2 1/2 years old at the time. He’s around 4 now. We weren’t told his true history that he has fear aggression around other animals. At the time we got him we had 4 cats. I was so upset that this man lied to us about his history. We took our dog to a K-9 trainer that guaranteed he could fix these behaviors in our dog. Needless to say, he didn’t. He told us that our dog needs to be put on medication before he could be trained. Our BT was on freaking Prozac prescribed by the vet and all it did was make him shake uncontrollably so we took him off it. We have tried everything to help our dog. I’ve read that some dogs are just untrainable and I fear that this may be the case with our dog. I feel so bad for him because he’s gained so much weight because he can’t be outside around other animals. We live next to a walking trail and we can’t even walk our dog outdoors because he flips out and goes after other animals. Our poor cats have been relegated to our basement and we put a cat door for them to be able to go outside. We didn’t want to give up on our dog. We felt so bad for him. He actually went after a dog on the sidewalk in front of our house because I had him improperly fastened to his collar and left a mark on this dog. The lady called the police and a state trooper came to my house and said that my dog should be shot! I paid for her dogs small mark. It was so small that you could barely see it and my dog had all his shots unlike her dog but that’s neither here nor there. I didn’t let him go on purpose. My dog barks at cartoon animals on tv! I really want our dog to have some quality of life. He sure doesn’t have one sitting in the house day in and day out. 😥
I really need help. I love that her dog is not reactive at all. My boston is reactive, he's had puppy 1 and 2 training and he still pulls on a leash, reacts to strangers and dogs in walks, but he plays with dogs at a dog park off leash. So we never know when he'll be friendly or not. He's quite anxious and barks a lot. He also had car aggression, he'll growl and bark at strangers who come too close to the car. I've tried so many reactive training but it just doesn't seem to work. I've tried different approaches when walking in a leash, correcting and redirecting to break fixation but treats don't work. What do I do? Please help asap. My boston is 10 months old
My 6 month old boston girl is already 17lbs! Still growing✌️ Tip:if anyones looking for a great squeaky toy, search up “Hartz Frisky Frolic”. My girl LOVES, and i mean LOVES that toy. It squeaks a lot so be prepared 😂
Hello , can you please give me advice how can I find this dog to make sure when its grow but it still stay very small around 15 or less pounds ? What I have to search ? 🙏
Hello! We recently got a new baby Boston named Bruno and are in love with him and the breed. Our situation is a little different from some. I am in an electric wheelchair. I’m constantly watching to make sure he doesn’t go under my wheels or chair where I cannot see him and accidentally possibly hurt him. Are there any tips or suggestions you can suggest to help us know not to be afraid of the chair but also adapt to it just like anything else? I tried to contact you directly but am having trouble so hopefully you get my message and I await your response.
I have wanted a Boston Terrier since I was a kid and my uncle had one. Talk about personality!! Wonderful. After many years of rescues as family dogs, I am on my own and now I cannot find any - breeder or rescue. Any advice?

Hi. We just subscribed to your channel - love it. We are the proud owners of a 12 weekvold Boston, she too is called Bella. Can I ask how Haleigh trained Bloom to use the toilet bell?
Our Mia is 7 months old. She eats the fur off tennis 🎾. Mia attacks toys. Our Saluki never destroyed toys but Mia’s bite/grip is so strong. We give her yak cheese to keep her entertained or chicken rings. It used to take 2-3 days to finish the chicken rings and a week or two for the yak cheese. This month it takes 15 minutes to finish the chicken ring and a few hours for the yak cheese. It’s insane!
I'm thinking about getting a Boston for my 15 months old Beagle bestie and i found this video. OMG they personality seems look alike. My Beagle girl is barkless and welcoming all guests with wagging tail, she's so cuddly and always attached her body on me while sleeping, she also a quick learner for so many tricks and agilities, inside my house she only pay attentions to me and always follows my commands, but at the park she will pick up scents then run to her doggo friends to play (she do have so many friends) - and just forget about me, like "bye, see yaaa!" 😶 I know its so common for Beagles is another dog oriented (they were living on a pack), but i thought Boston is people oriented? Or i was wrong?
I would talk to your vet when to start the potty training and make sure they are vaccinated before taking them outside to be potty trained. As for feeding schedule here is a good article by the American Kennel Club www.akc.org/expert-advice/nutrition/how-many-times-a-day-should-a-dog-eat/

Help watching your videos
We had been looking for a boston terrier ..2 were scammers glad we had questions about them.
BOSTON TERRIERS ARE NUMBER ONE
my boston is the same way and hes 3 years old now, still full of energy still farting still trying to be friends with everyone and still stubborn as ever. never a dull moment
Boston Terriers are wonderful.
I love the breed
@@antonspjut4953 Bostons and Frenchies are the only dogs I'll ever have, especially now that I'm older and require a diversion for my own aromatic indiscretions.
Thank you I think you just helped me make my decision! I always liked these Boston's 😍
What kind of health issues do they have ?
@@heathersimpson5771 the one i had with my ex, had cherry eye in both eyes. To the point he could not close his eyes when he slept. That was fixed via surgery and their nasal passages seem to be blocked. We fixed that too so his snoring was not as bad.....still snored like a person though.
Thank you! A very informative interview. Love our Boston Terriers
Glad you enjoyed it!
We bought a Boston 9 months ago, she’s unusual as she is a lilac but she is my best friend
Great interview and insight. How sweet is Haleigh! What a nice girl and it really showed through how much she loves her dog. I like the name they gave her too.
I agreed with you 1.000,000%
First time owner
Too!!!
My baby Zorra.
Is 11 months.
This beautiful beings.
Are amazing.
😍
I love Boston Terriers... ☺️☺️
Sounds like you have an amazing dog! 😊
Fantastic interview and really helpful as we get our little boy in 7 weeks!! So helpful!!
You are welcome!
Hands down The best video Great job awesome informative for everyone
OH WOW, even the bell in the apartment is same as Margot. How cool. Donnie, I love this channel, thanks so much.
You are welcome!
Ask your local vets about reputable breeders. You don't need to already own a pet to get advice from them:)
Please check a Boston Rescue
Hello,
My Boston Terrier, Luda, is fully grown and only weighs 13 pounds.
Exactly like Brody tearing stuff toys, and only fetch inside when he’s outside no fetch 😅and loves to snuggle
Getting my new Boston end of September. This was very helpful!
How’s it going?
Getting my Boston pup in 6 weeks 😊
I have a 5months old Pug named Frank and his nothing like normal pugs once read all the internet info 🙂his personality is matching exactly what you both described in Boston terrier 😂 and we are getting our little Boston Today, I'm excited and ready for some more training 😁😁as Frank is great with his training! Great video with really good tips 🙂
You're not kidding about the non-barking. My aunt's Boston got trapped between the fridge and oven for 8 hours and never made a sound! they thought she was lost forever!
😊
I have owned bostons since 1993 I have had 8 bostons I have had two litters as well bought half of them rescued the other half. The biggest was 42 pounds smallest was 8 pounds.
Thank you for sharing this! I have never owned a dog ever and we are getting a Boston Terrier in about 4 months.
Well, congrats on your new adventure!
Good for you doing your research!
what does the bell on the door look like that the dog uses to go potty? Also, how did you start training her to use the bell to go potty?
👍
Lol.. your baby must be related to my Brad! He LOVES other dogs. When I say "another dog?" He goes nuts! Loves to shred toys too! Everything you have said about your girl, applies to my 4 year old Boston, Brad!!
Fantastic interview! I’m all good with farts and snorts…. I’m looking for a reputable breeder…any suggestions?
I have a question. How big does a Boston have to get where they are no longer prey to Hawks? My Boston is three months old probably weighs about 6 lbs but cannot leave her alone in a fenced yard yet due to Hawks in the subdivision. I can't stay out there with her all day and she absolutely loves the spring weather
Get my baby tomorrow wish me luck guys!!!
STUNNING BOSTY
Hi I just found your videos and suscribed. Very very interesting thank you! I have a wonderful BT ( 1st time )
My Dolly is 2 and a half years old.
Thank you.
What are they like with heat and long hikes ?
Not good for either really
Mine is a non stop barker. Advise? Constant licking too.
Currently dealing with this with a 9 week old puppy, how did your Boston do? Did he grow out of it eventually!
Now if I could just get him to stop jumping on guests so much 🤪😅
take them out for a little bit ? i used to walk mine for 3 hours a day , and she loved it .
My Selena is 17lbs. And my Petey is 21lbs
Thank you for sharing your experience. I hope you & your BT find some answers soon!
My boston is 10 months old
Good afternoon Donnie.... I live my Boston's
My 6 month old boston girl is already 17lbs! Still growing✌️
Tip:if anyones looking for a great squeaky toy, search up “Hartz Frisky Frolic”. My girl LOVES, and i mean LOVES that toy. It squeaks a lot so be prepared 😂
Thanks for sharing! 😊
Any advice?
I don't have a breeder recommendation. But here is a video where I point people when they start their search for a Boston Terrier puppy...ua-cam.com/video/hWw_XgRuMW4/v-deo.html
Just simply getting frustrated with potty training. My Trudi is a snuggly little dolly but is very stubborn.
Help with advice on how to find reputable breeder near me - ??
Hi. We just subscribed to your channel - love it. We are the proud owners of a 12 weekvold Boston, she too is called Bella. Can I ask how Haleigh trained Bloom to use the toilet bell?
Yeah, how much $$$ per puppy Boston terrier or does it depend on the kennel or pet store,
I wondered about the price. I got a French Bulldog.
😄
Just curious what food she switched to?
Mine seem to graze also.
I'm thinking about getting a Boston for my 15 months old Beagle bestie and i found this video. OMG they personality seems look alike. My Beagle girl is barkless and welcoming all guests with wagging tail, she's so cuddly and always attached her body on me while sleeping, she also a quick learner for so many tricks and agilities, inside my house she only pay attentions to me and always follows my commands, but at the park she will pick up scents then run to her doggo friends to play (she do have so many friends) - and just forget about me, like "bye, see yaaa!" 😶
I know its so common for Beagles is another dog oriented (they were living on a pack), but i thought Boston is people oriented? Or i was wrong?
How do you recommend potty training a Boston and as far as feeding schedule
I would talk to your vet when to start the potty training and make sure they are vaccinated before taking them outside to be potty trained. As for feeding schedule here is a good article by the American Kennel Club www.akc.org/expert-advice/nutrition/how-many-times-a-day-should-a-dog-eat/
What kind of food do they give you? Some people said Royal Canin?
You city should create dog parks, we have plenty here in Phoenix
Is there any grass in Phoenix?
I'm picking up my boston puppy in three weeks. I'm going solo and it's a 2 hour drive one way so I will need to make sure she's secure in the backseat of my toyota corolla. What crate do you recommend I get?
My Boston terrier mix also has bad allergies. She has to be on prescription flea meds because she’s allergic to flea bites
Thank h for sharing .
