My wife and I are raising Cartur a 1 yr old red Boston Terrier our last Boston Chauncy who looked like yours but had a dudley nose sadly 😥 passed away last year after 9 years. He saved my life by alerting my wife to me having a massive seizure.
I found a Chihuahua/Boston mix at shelter in 2017. She is the miracle I needed. She was 3 + or -, and the most wonderful creature ever. I can't say more except that she amazes me daily 😂❤
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL with the training!!! My male Boston, that passed away at 14 years old, was just like that too. He was SO SMART, and paid such close attention to me and all my commands. I miss him SO MUCH!
Gotta love a whole video dedicated to Cooper! This was really enlightening! No pets In my future but I would definitely use some of this info if I got one.
Def time for a crate thats a little bigger if he's in that long. I know its a safe space but he should be able to stand without issue. Maybe I couldnt see properly at the angle.
Cooper is very good at learning Another great vid that helps ppl if thy have a new dog u say it has it is not easy but with time u get there with many ups and downs Good vid Jay
Wow you are an excellent dog trainer. Perfect pet parent 👍 Boston Terriers are a wonderful breed. My girl is 12 years old & she has been an incredible dog. ♥️
Having my BT in my life has been my greatest experience, and I've had kids and climbed Kilimanjaro! She is so intelligent, loving, and funny. I, too, have mine crate-trained. It allows us to take her everywhere (although once we get where we're going, she sits on my husband's lap). It's also where she sleeps at night on our bed, and relaxes throughout the day. I give her a tiny salmon treat every time she goes in so she's very happy to do so. I can't believe this breed isn't more popular - they're just incredible. I've met so many BT past and present owners who just rave about their dogs, even a burly guy who had a tattoo of his on his arm!
Wow--you are doing such a great job with Cooper's training. If only everybody understood the need for this. He is happier & safer & you are happier as a result. I have always had great dogs--put in a lot of training & spend their lifetime enjoying & loving them. For the last 14 years I have been working with a rescue. I have had successes & a couple of not so greats. I currently have a permanent foster who is an older dog with some health issues & he is hard to train. We are working on it, but like you, I may need to go back to therapy for a bit (for both of our sakes). We just started him on acupuncture & I think that is going to help Thanks for a whole video on Cooper ;->
Congrats on the companion, and impressive training! I found this channel while searching for training videos. My Boston is a 5 month old absolute cannonball of rocket-fuel energy. Cooper seems so well behaved and chill. Inspiring stuff!
Good talk about crate training. I'm not expert, but it's tough. I've dealt with several puppies and the first few weeks can be rough until they settle in to the household. It's easier when they are little (I had to work with a 2 yr old husky/malalmute and get him to chill in his crate. Feeding in the crate helps (even hand feeding). It's good to create a safe place for them to go and relax.
great video, We just had the misfortune of having to put our (Lilly) 14 yr. Old Boston down. One of the toughest days in my life. Watching your video was a positive way to remember my baby. thank you !
We just read a book about all of this, and it's great to see it in practice. You did an amazing job. I know you don't need the validation, so it's more of an observation. It's just great seeing a happy puppy. Warms the ol' ticker. Good times be with you :)
Kudos to you both! We’ve had challenges in training all of our dogs and it has usually come down to us not being consistent. Your hard work has really paid off and you have a true little gentleman who is adorable as can be 🥰
Another important command we always taught our dogs is “Leave It!” You’ll find it useful in so many situations. It may even save you a trip to the vet.
Ube passed away and she was from one of the only 2 breeders I found in France at the time they were also on a farm!!! I loved your video -- I now have 2 baby bostons twin brothers / am having difficulties bc I didn't realize the littermate syndrome it's a work in progress thx
Nice looking BT. A 4-wall handball is tough and the perfect size for his mouth. I've had eight BTs and they've all liked chasing the ball. Good luck. BTs are playing machines.
Wow love this video, I'm getting a new baby in two months she is only a week old and I'm so excited to bring her home and also nervous at the same time, your video helped
Jay!!! He's SUCH a good boy! You've done so much work with him, and it shows. I love that you have this awesome little buddy to spend time with. He's a great sidekick. 😉 Super Duper Cooper!! (And I love your new Cooper scooper backpack). Hugs to you and extra loves to Cooper! 😊
Trained pups are happy pups. Great dog choice too as very human like .and darling. I consider dogs babies till 2. He is so sweet and you now have unconditional love.
They are very easy to train I've had them since I was 10 years old our Isabella is in doggy heaven she was16! Miss her so much e are looking for our new Boston puppy prayers for u puppy family prayer warrior!
Greetings from Colombia. Congratulations for your Nacho dog, I just received a 50 days Boston terrier Female Puppy, this video is so inspiring, i hope to get some of this tricks for her, but i havent has a dog before, is really challenging and frightening.
Excellent video! Your dog is adorable, very well trained, and you are obviously a responsible, caring dog dad. I really enjoyed watching your interaction with your Bostie.
Thanks Jay, for your video with Cooper. Especially the travel tips. I have had bostons, and love the breed. Soon I will be looking for another for a travel mate. So any more content on traveling with Cooper would be great.
He is adorable and you have done a excellent job. I miss my Boston. He passed away 14 months ago. I have had 4 in my lifetime and one American Bulldog. My Female Dottie had goggles and she hated them. If I left them out she would destroy them. She would occasionally ride with me on my motorcycle so she needed them and she had eye issues. She was my best swimmer and did great tricks. I hope your just using that many treats in the video as a training example lol. Anyways absolutely precious!!
These dogs are amazing. They're not a shivery "yappy" breed. They have the personality have a big dog in a small body. Kinda like mini boxers. You can take them places and exercise hike etc unlike French bulldogs pugs and other Brachy breeds.
They grow up really fast! Mine is 1 year old and I cannot carry her around in a bag anymore as she got too heavy. Well, I can, but its not gonna be comfortable for me or her.
His meals are always used as training, and then I make him wait for the last bit in his bowl. So meal times are the big training sessions, with smaller ones throughout the day whenever I'm mindful enough to do them 😊
I couldn't click on this video fast enough!! We are getting a new BT puppy in a few weeks, our beloved 11 year old Boston passed away recently from illness, She was our 4th Boston. We LOVE them so much!! I am dreading the crate training at night thing because I know I'll be so tempted to go get her and put her in our bed when she screams and cries. I don't want to do that but I can't go too long without sleep . Did you keep Cooper's crate in the room with you at night when you were crate training him to sleep in there, or did you keep it in another room? I'm a little confused about the treats you give him while training him. Do you just train at meal time or are you essentially "feeding" him his meals all day long while training him? Does this tend to over feed him ? Do you ever use conventional "doggie treats" while training him or rewarding him when he does something properly ? It has been a long time since I had a little puppy in my house so you'll forgive me if I ask some seemingly stupid questions. Cooper is a smart, beautiful Boston boy....I know you are so proud of him and I'm sure he gives you such joy and love. Bostons are the BEST !!
He is soooo adorable!! I was gifted one3.5 years ago when he was 6 mths. He has brought us so much joy. You might want to ad, they are not very vocal. It was a pretty long time until he barked for the first time!! Now, it is few and far between. Is this normal?
Bostons do prefer their people. They are not aggressive or anything and as a puppy they love everyone but I think you will find as he gets older he will be fairly nonchalant about strangers and completely fixated on you.
@@JaySwansonWhat airline did you take your baby on the trip? Do you mind sharing your experience of how to take your dog on the airplane (requirements and process)? Thank you in advance 😊
I’m having issues with my 7 month old Boston. He is very stubborn hyper and does not like to be separated. He won’t even go outside still with out crying for me. And has accidents inside all the time. I’m here trying to find new ways to help him learn. I’ve done the crating. He poops aaaaaalll over his cage. Ughhhh I need help lol. I take him out and we are outside for a while. Then he comes right in and goes. He holds it. He’s a character but he’s always over the top with the cats and the kids. I’m gonna have to start using a Fanny pack with treats when I’m home all day and night. He’s a picky eater.
As a long time Boston owner I agree with your opinion of Bostons. Greatest, smartest and rewarding dogs ever.
So fun
Looks like Cooper has an exciting life with a great owner. I’m on my 2nd Boston and they’re just such great dogs.
He's a total keeper
You've done a very good job training him!
Thanks, David!
My wife and I are raising Cartur a 1 yr old red Boston Terrier our last Boston Chauncy who looked like yours but had a dudley nose sadly 😥 passed away last year after 9 years. He saved my life by alerting my wife to me having a massive seizure.
I'm glad you could include him in your lives! I'm sure he loved every minute
I found a Chihuahua/Boston mix at shelter in 2017. She is the miracle I needed. She was 3 + or -, and the most wonderful creature ever. I can't say more except that she amazes me daily 😂❤
You are the best dog dad! So patient and dedicated. Love your videos, especially the ones that feature Cooper.😍
Thank you so much! I definitely don't always feel so patient but we're coming along 😆
Wife and I are on our 3rd Boston. Best compact sized dog of all time. Such awesome personalities. Now I can't wait to get home to my little pal.
I just love the way he looks at you throughout the video :) also, you've trained him so well!!
🥰 He's a good boi
This might be my favorite video that you've produced. Cooper steals the show every time.

I forgot to mention resources here on UA-cam that I found super helpful like Zak George and McCann Dogs. Highly recommend!
Boston's are the best and have an excellent temperament.

The Boston ! What a joy, what a great friend ... no, not friend but a real buddy ! Simply the best.

What a gorgeous Boston!! I grew up with them and my current one is approaching 10. She’s flown in my lap many times. Again he is gorgeous!!

The small - he's just barely big enough for it really 🤣
He has a very relaxed disposition for a Boston Terrier of that age. You got lucky bud. 🤣

Hello mate
Great video, we have to BT, best dog breeds ever.
How did you manage to bring your dog on planes?
I think you’ve succeeded in raising a good pup. I cannot say the same for myself and my slightly neurotic and territorial wiener dog.
That is an amazing description nonetheless 🤣
Bostons do prefer their people. They are not aggressive or anything and as a puppy they love everyone but I think you will find as he gets older he will be fairly nonchalant about strangers and completely fixated on you.
Hi. Are you using special treats for training? Or just his normal kibble food?
Just his kibble 99% of the time
What treats do you recommend?
I can’t find the name of your harness?
How have you found having a dog in Paris? Is there easy access to enough open space for him to get off lead and run around etc.?
Getting off lead is hard, but he's welcome almost anywhere so he gets out and lots of activities/socialization
Tell your dog I said hi❤️
He says hi back 😊
Boston's are sooo smart. Do not let anyone steal him . cause people will steal him.
How much did you get him for?
Can a short nose dog like a Boston Terrier fly on the airplane? I have one and not sure if he can travel on the plane. Thank you 😊
Mine does! He's 7kg so just the right weight
